Fully Furnished 2-story, 2 bedroom attached Duplex with a King bed in the Primary bedroom and a pair of Twin beds in the 2nd bedroom. Couch on main floor is also a sofa bed that sleeps two if needed. Main floor is wide open floor plan. This space has been set up specifically for short-term rentals of 1-2 weeks or months and has previously been used by Guests looking for homes in the Evanston area or having construction done. We cater to Families visiting Northwestern University.

-This is one of only a handful of properties in Evanston that has been fully Inspected and Licensed by the City for Short Term Rentals like this.

-All Utilities are included =Heat, Water, Electric, DirecTV Streaming TV w/HBO, NETFLIX

-Heat and A/C are Central forced air, you can adjust the thermostat to suit. except under the following conditions:
-A/C is NOT available unless outside temps are above 50F for at least 24hrs as we do not like replacing the compressor every year.

-Both Bedrooms are on the 2nd floor.

-Free WiFi is included throughout, 500Mbps down Service
-Netflix portal on the downstairs 50” TV and also upstairs in the small bedroom on a 32” TV. Sign in to your own account or use the House account!

-You will have access to a B&W Laser Printer if needed.
-Kitchen includes Keurig coffeemaker, plus a French Press, Electric Kettle, and regular "Mr. Coffee" as well as cooking utensils, flatware and dishes for most any needs. Dining Table seats 6.

-Large bathroom on the first floor with a New Walk-In Shower on the 2nd floor. Kiddo Tub is available for those who need it.

-There is a small side garden as well as a larger garden in the back yard with a small outdoor fireplace and a new Weber gas grill (shared and weather-permitting of course).
-Off-street parking space for two CARS available in back.

- We do have a Full-Size Crib/Toddler Bed, Pack-N-Play, Baby Gate, and an Arm's Reach Crib (5 months or less) if you have an Infant.
- 2 Foam Booster seats so kids can eat at the table easier.
- Munchkin Toddler Toilet Seat so you don't have to bring one.
-An inflatable twin bed AND a Twin Roll-Away are also available if you have a family with 3 kids and don't want to use the sofa bed. They can all fit in the smaller bedroom and kids seem to like that.

Note: RVs are not allowed overnight on the streets of Evanston. The parking space we provide is for CARS, and it is not suitable for an RV of any size. The space also cannot accommodate a TRAILER. Any "Camping" onsite (including- and ESPECIALLY- in the Parking Space provided) is not allowed.

Other things to note
We are not set up for Daily Rentals (hence the 3-4 day minimum) as we primarily cater to families that are having construction done at their homes, are in the process of moving to the area, (Ginger is a Realtor), or are visiting family and don't want to stay in a hotel. If you are interested in renting for longer terms, please message us.

HALLOWEEN TERMS:
If you are booking any time around October 31, we ask that you allow us access to Master Bedroom 1 week in advance for about an hour for exterior decor (stuff hangs from windows) and also you agree to allow us access to the space out front ON October 31 from 4-8pm for Trick or Treating (we get a lot of kids).

Neighborhood highlights

This used to be a Grocery Store. The couple that owned and operated it lived in the house attached to the back and raised NINE children here.

I was looking for a space to use to both raise a family and have a working "Art Studio"; the grocery store fit the bill as it became available when the owner's wife died and he retired. That was in 1974.

Many people in Evanston still remember going to school across the street at Washington Elementary School and then coming over to "Charlie's Store" across the street to get some candy after school let out.

We recently travelled to California to visit the youngest son of the owner (the son is now 91 years old!). We shared many memories and stories of the building over the years and returned with a good history of the family business that is available to anyone that is interested via our website or to Guests via a magazine-type welcome packet that we provide.
