ENJOY YOURSELF IN RICHMOND
This was a wonderful experience! Bill and Lissa's place was so charming, and within walking distance of so many wonderful restaurants, shops, and the VMFA. The apartment was beautifully decorated and very comfortable, and had everything I needed, including a Keurig and coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt, and juice, and other yummy breakfast items. In the beautiful evenings, I jogged through the historic, beautiful neighborhoods and enjoyed looking at gorgeous architecture and lovely gardens and porches. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking their peaceful garden. Bill and Lissa were so warm and welcoming and I enjoyed chatting with them about art, horses, favorite restaurants, food, beer and gardening!
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. This was my first airbnb experience and I wouldn't have changed a thing. I can't wait to return sometime soon :-) Thanks, Bill and Lissa
Bill and Lissa have a very sweet set up. We really enjoyed their place. Great location...walk to restaurants. Love the kitchen with Keurig and goodies in the fridge! Thanks Bill and Lissa!
This was our second visit with Bill. He makes us feel welcome and provides snacks, coffee and breakfast. He also knows the city well and gives great recommendations for restaurants etc. The apartment is clean and quiet, and the location can't be beat. We had a fantastic time, and we hope to be back next year.
Loved our stay here! Bill and Lissa were welcoming, helpful, and gracious. The location in Richmond's historic Fan neighborhood is ideal for easy walking or biking distance to many wonderful restaurants in Carytown, etc. The apartment is lovely, and as described, and the kitchenette is well stocked for breakfast. We especially appreciated the keurig machine and many choices for what to brew, and the ability to sit on our own private balcony enjoying the garden while sipping coffee in the morning. Highly recommend as a "home away from home" place to stay to experience the heart of Richmond's vibrant, historic, city center, with the added bonus of warm, helpful hosts.
Bill was there when we arrived and helped with luggage. We were absolutely happy with not only the location but the space was just perfect. We would definitely stay there again, but my husband might request that "Lilly" be allowed to come up and visit!
neighborhood was charming, convenient and safe.hosts were very (email hidden) was exceptionally well stocked.apartment was beautifully appointed.front door a little tricky to use. city of richmond is a serious contender in our search for relocation.
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts and this whole added up to a very pleasant and enjoyable stay for 5 nights.
The Plusses: Nice little kitchen area for breakfasts and porch for relaxing. The flowers in the entryway were nice! Bill, our host, was welcoming and accommodating, even providing us almond milk for our cereal, soy milk for coffee, as requested. We appreciate that Bill! He went out of his way to recommend places to see, eateries, etc.
Located in a nice area of the Fan within walking distance of restaurants, coffee houses, museums. Comfortable room and bed. Enjoyed the fresh fruit and the many varieties of coffee for the Keurig machine and all the boxed cereal choices.
Suggestions to make it even better: Give just a little more attention to detail in cleaning. Examples: there was grime build-up on spaces between the shower tiles (not a lot, but enough to catch our attention); some of the drawers in bedroom and kitchen weren’t as clean as they could be. My wife spent some time cleaning and then she was more comfortable. Didn’t really impact our overall experience and enjoyment, but it is, nonetheless, an area for improvement. Other suggestions: Get a cheap colander--you can one for a buck at the Dollar Tree-- so guests can wash berries, grapes, etc. Provide saran wrap.
Would we go back. Yes! The overall experience was very good and really nice hosts like Bill and his wife make a big difference.
I am a retired corporate executive and my wife Lissa is an artist and interior designer for hotels. We relocated to Richmond in 2011 from a suburban residence, including a three horse barn, in New Jersey. We are really enjoying the new city life which allows us to walk or bicycle to an amazing range of services and activities. It reminds Lissa of living in her native London but more relaxed and quieter.
We do enjoy the beautiful Virginia countryside when we work with our horse Madison in Goochland or golf at the many courses available in the area. We hope to have a chance to share our enjoyment of the area with others.
