  • Bill and his wife were beyond cordial, inviting, welcoming, wonderful! After a long drive in to Richmond, Bill greeted us with Southern hospitality one reads about--glass of wine and snacks over review of what to see and do in this beautiful city. The house and gardens were magnificent, within easy walk of restaurants and drinking establishments. Other places to visit are an easy quick drive from this perfect spot! As history buffs, we especially enjoyed Bill's recommendation of a visit to Hollywood Cemetery.

  • This was a great space in a historic old house, within walking distance to many restaurants and the Lamplighter coffee shop (my favorite in Richmond). It's centrally located within the Fan and Bill and his wife have thought of all the major creature comforts: comfortable bed, kitchenette with a coffee-maker and a fridge stocked with an assortment of breakfast items, and a fantastic private balcony overlooking the garden. I can't wait to come back and stay again.

  • Bill was an amazing host. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at his place. He was very friendly and we felt like we left Richmond with another friend. His place is impeccably located in the Fan and you'll feel like you have an entirely private apartment. Best AirBnB experience thus far.

  • Bill and Lissa were wonderfully hospitable hosts providing splendid accommodation in their fine Victorian residence in the historic Fan area of Richmond. They ensured that the kitchen was stocked with essential breakfast goodies and we were given plenty of information on things to see during our time there. The apartment was extremely comfortable. We loved our stay there and would highly recommend it to anyone who wished to enjoy the charms of Richmond and surrounds.

  • We really enjoyed our 4 night stay in Bill's upstairs apartment. It came with a fully equipped kitchen stocked with cereals, juice, yogurt, fruit and a variety of Keurig coffee pods.
Bill was very helpful from our check-in, when he helped us carry our bags upstairs as well as at checkout. We were able to print our boarding pass on his computer downstairs and the wi-fi worked perfectly during our stay.
Bill's location was perfect in order to visit a variety of local attractions, such as the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Botanical Gardens and the downtown canals.
There were a variety of restaurants in the neighborhood and the parking in back of his house was very helpful.
If we ever have occasion to visit Richmond again we would definitely stay at his AirBnB.

  • It was absolutely amazing. The directions were perfect. The key was placed as stated. The little apartment was so so beautiful with high ceilings and lovely molding. The bed was firm and perfect. The kitchen was filled with all kinds of breakfast treats. Finally, Bill was just too gracious. What a great way to spend a graduation weekend. When the festivities were done each day, my husband and I enjoyed wine on the porch overlooking the most amazing rose garden. I am done with hotels. I will be back.

  • Bill was an absolutely wonderful host! The space had a full kitchen (Bill stocked the refrigerator for breakfast), a beautiful bedroom, and bath. It was absolutely wonderful! It is in a great location and Bill has excellent recommendations for places to eat and things to do. He also gave me the privacy that I needed while I was attending a Board Review at VCU. Excellent airbnb place to stay and I HIGHLY recommend. Next time I am in Richmond I will definitely be back here to stay!

  • I had a lovely time staying at this place in the Fan District. Bill was a great communicator and went above and beyond the call of duty by picking me up at the Staples Mills train station as the downtown one was blocked off by a cycle ride! I was most impressed by this lovely bit of hospitality.

The apartment itself is spacious, airy and light with a comfortable kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. There is lots of space for clothes and other belongings and enough space to spread out if that is what you require. The wifi was nicely strong as well! I truly enjoyed the patio off the bedroom and kitchen as well.

It was an easy walk to many great restaurants and Bill gave me some useful tips on those. I spent a lovely day exploring the Fan District, its museums and the Cary Street District was nearby as well - about a 15 minute walk. I'd certainly stay here again if my travels take me to Richmond in the future.

I am a retired corporate executive and my wife Lissa is an artist and interior designer for hotels. We relocated to Richmond in 2011 from a suburban residence, including a three horse barn, in New Jersey. We are really enjoying the new city life which allows us to walk or bicycle to an amazing range of services and activities. It reminds Lissa of living in her native London but more relaxed and quieter. We do enjoy the beautiful Virginia countryside when we work with our horse Madison in Goochland or golf at the many courses available in the area. We hope to have a chance to share our enjoyment of the area with others.
