Flat 1 (25m²) on the 1st floor of the main house on a ranch, with a separate entrance and a balcony overlooking the river and waterfall. 4 m² bedroom with a king-size bed under a panoramic roof (remote-controlled cover) to see the stars or daylight. It has hot/cold air conditioning, a fan, a 43” Smart TV (Netflix), and fast Wi-Fi. Compact kitchen with a mini fridge, stove, microwave and folding table for the balcony. The ideal getaway!
The space
A rustic tropical ranch, a great option for those who want to stay close to the beaches of Ilhabela, in the middle of a green area with a waterfall practically on the balcony, ideal for those seeking contact with nature, peace, tranquility and to recharge their batteries.
The site was one of the island's great tourist attractions in the 80s/90s and today we share the old water park exclusively with our guests. The river has three waterfalls. Two of them divide the river into two pools with weak currents most of the time, forming natural pools. The upper bank of the river is spacious, perfect for sunbathing after a swim, and features a large waterslide for adventurers.
As the river cuts through the terrain, access to the other side is via a bridge, which leads to trails in the Atlantic Forest. Other attractions of the space include two additional natural pools with a slide: a small and shallow one, ideal for children or for those who just want to wet their feet; and a larger and deeper one, with a long slide.
Spread across the land, inside the site, we have 8 independent accommodations, each with exclusive rent:
Dog-friendly accommodations:
Two-story chalet: overlooking the stars from the queen-size bed, its own barbecue, accommodates up to 2 people.
White house: surrounded by a wall, with a yard, pool and barbecue; accommodates up to 6 people. It has 2 en-suites, the first floor with a king-size bed and bathtub overlooking the stars. Large balcony on the first floor with pool table and river gazebo.
European chalet: completely wooden, with fireplace, located among our pine forest; accommodates up to 4 people, with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom.
Accommodations in the 2-story complex/building (no pets allowed):
Cococana Apartment: on two floors; ground floor with kitchen, dining and living room, large balcony overlooking the main part of the river; first floor with suite, king size bed, balcony overlooking the river and bathroom with panoramic bathtub. Max. 2 people.
Flat 1 and Flat 2: located on the first floor of the complex, overlooking the river and the stars. Flat 2 is larger, sleeps up to 4 people; Flat 1 sleeps up to 2 people.
Flat 3: on the ground floor, overlooking the river, adapted for wheelchairs, baby strollers, etc.
Suite: also on the ground floor, more economical price range, with bedroom, bathroom and small balcony at the back of the complex, next to the shared barbecue.
Guest access
Guests of this listing will have access to all outdoor areas and attractions of the old water park, such as the river area with a waterslide, the natural pools with waterslides, the barbecue grills, the game room, and the trails in the woods across the river. Access to other accommodations and their private areas is only allowed for guests in the same group or with permission/invitation from the person renting.
Other things to note
This flat has no shared rooms! It is located between two other small flats in the same complex, so there may be some noise from the other guests.
We are in the midst of nature, with many species of animals and natural “dirt” from the forest, such as leaves and dust from the trees. The beautiful and diverse birds (parrots, toucans, woodpeckers), butterflies, wild animals and insects are part of the scenery, including spiders that build their webs overnight in the outdoor areas. With all this nature, it is not possible to keep the outdoor areas 100% free of dust or leaves, as any wind brings everything back.
Here we also have Ilhabela's trademark: the borrachudos. We recommend applying repellent every half hour to better enjoy the ranch and the beaches. At night, there are no borrachudos.
On the property, we have the dogs Zap (Dalmatian) and Maia (the caretaker's mutt), our Pomi (Pomeranian, who stays at home most of the time) and two cats that only stay inside the main house.
The waterfalls and the color of the river may vary depending on the time of year (dry or heavy rain), just as the flowers follow their flowering seasons. As the space is rented privately, there are no lifeguards or monitors; guests are fully responsible for the use of the attractions, a rule that must be accepted when booking.
The property is away from the street, ensuring tranquility, with only two neighbors: an inn on one side and a family residence on the other.
At the entrance to the property lives the caretaker and his family, very polite people and always willing to help.
On the land, there is the main house (complex with 4 apartments and a suite for rent), two cottages and a house.
The flat is equipped with high-speed internet (1 Gbps fiber optic) and Amazon Alexa Echo Dot (3rd generation), a smart speaker for music and general questions.

From the host
The Sítio is located at the beginning of the road that goes to Praia dos Castelhanos, which is one of the most beautiful beaches and is on the other side of the island.
Only jeep tours or authorized cars are allowed, as the beach is under environmental protection.
If you arrange a tour to Castelhanos Beach, the jeeps will pick you up at the door of the site and bring you back.
The neighborhood, despite looking a little messy, is quite safe.
In the same neighborhood, 1 km away, in the direction of Castelhanos Beach, there is the Toca Waterfall, which is also a strong tourist attraction with a waterfall and a natural slide on the rocks. They make artisanal cachaça, worth checking out!
The site is 2.1 km from the next beach, which is Perequê, 400 meters from the next market (5 min walk), 2.1 km from the larger and better known Frade supermarket, and 2.6 km from the ferry toward the center of the island and north. You can also find restaurants from 700 meters to 2.1 kilometers away.
As the site is very central, the distance does not matter if you want to visit the beaches of the south, center, north or other side of the island.
Every day you can set a different route. And if you want tips, we're here to help.

My work: Manage your site
Hello, my name is Jeannine.
I just moved to Ilhabela after living in Düsseldorf, Germany, since I was 15 years old. I'm from São Paulo and spent my childhood and weekends on the island. My grandfather bought a piece of land more than 50 years ago on the island, where for about 10-15 years he opened it to the public as a water park with natural pools, slides and waterfalls. The space was known as the Jardim Tropical.
Since he passed away, the property has been idle and practically abandoned.
My mission is to follow my grandfather's wishes by reactivating the space so that the beauty it offers can be shared, but this time with the difference that the use of the old park is exclusive to those who rent the flats, cottages, and house on the property.
With a degree in administration in the textile industry and a completed course in event management, I love working on new projects and I love challenges. I am an optimistic and determined person, and my main characteristic is helping others.
I am passionate about life, and I love meeting new people, exchanging ideas, and connecting.
I am a super open, easy-going, helpful, and diverse person. I like electronic music as much as bossa nova or even classical music.
I love traveling and getting to know new cultures.
The trip that left the biggest impression on me was when I went to India, where I had the opportunity to get to know the life of another world, completely outside of my reality from that moment on. In Dharamsala (Himalayas), by chance (or by fate), I managed to be close to the Dalai Lama at an audience he gave. At that time, I didn't even know him, or I barely knew of his existence. But the energy and emotion I felt during that moment were so profound and inexplicable that they changed my outlook on life in a way.
My motto in life is to live each day as a gift.
Nothing is impossible. You just have to want it and fight, even if sometimes it seems like we are at a dead end. If we take a few steps back, we find a new path to move forward toward our dream and goal.
Being a person who is open to others, I don't have a specific preferred type of guest, except for people who act in bad faith.
I hope to have many guests ;O)
