Stunning 1625 sq ft in-law house suited to friendly, communicative individuals, couples or families. Double lot, loads of natural beauty! Private & quiet, yet only 1.5 miles to downtown. Very peaceful w/ lovely, green views. Huge backyard, shared w/ owner. Private entrance, massive layout w/ darling kitchenette, dining area, 2 bedrooms & huge vaulted living space. Perfect retreat for the artists & writers among you! Strong wifi, ideal work space!

The space
This is a perfect spot to relax and unwind - with vaulted ceilings, lovely views, and private, outdoor seating in the flower-filled garden - yet still in close proximity to the culture of Olympia's downtown and all of the local color it has to offer. A gorgeous 2-block park right on the corner offers basketball and tennis and 2 rackets and a basketball for your use. Several buses are within easy walking distance; a large grocery store and a popular, unique fast food restaurant are both a few blocks away.

A nice neighborhood to safely walk in, and a perfect spot for workers on the front line - keep your family safe, while you stay in a peaceful, clean home away from home, or while searching for your new Thurston County home. I block off 3 days between each rental for safety's sake to allow me to do extra cleaning.

Bedding: Super comfortable King-size Tempur-Pedic Mattress in large upstairs bedroom and two comfy twin beds in the huge downstairs bedroom. 5th guest (in non-Covid times) can sleep on the new, comfy sectional couch in the living area upstairs (with bedding, of course).

There's a dedicated office area and plenty of room for your paperwork, if you need it.
Garage parking just for you, as well as easy street parking for an additional car if needed. (Garage, although large, is hard to access in a wide vehicle such as an SUV, due to the angle of access)

The kitchenette includes a microwave, convection oven (can be used for everything a conventional oven is used for - and cooks faster. Will not fit large items - a turkey, for example. Two induction burners (cooktops) with pots and pans, teas of several varieties, coffee, sugar, creamer, cooking oil, an array of spices, and a good sized sink for your convenience!

As of Dec. 23, 2020: New additional counterspace with a movable cart underneath for even more surfaces to work on, as well as emergency lighting on the stairway in case of a power outage; new wall lights in the upstairs bedroom to allow for more room on the bedside tables for books, glasses, cell phones, etc.

Please note: The bathroom is a stand alone shower and a stand alone toilet - two separate areas. Many find this convenient for multiple people, since 2 can utilize the facilities at the same time. The bathroom is downstairs, near the kitchen and the bedroom with the two twin beds.

Guest access
Guests have private access to the entire 2 bedroom, 1 bath unit, their own private entrance and garage, as well as access to the shared huge back yard - a double lot, filled with trees, birds, and flowers - and lots of peace and privacy.

The unit is the back end of my own home, so we share the yard, as well as one wall (your stairway/my open Livingroom/kitchen area), so though you will have privacy, this is not a stand alone house, like many other Airbnbs.

It is my hope that any of my guests are prepared to get acquainted with myself and the property upon arrival and that, when we pass each other in the driveway, yard or on the street, that we engage and are friendly and amicable - otherwise, it is just terribly awkward! Note: For now and the near future, your orientation will be done via video call to allow for social distancing.

If you have social limitations, such as discomfort or anxiety, I ask that you present that up front before booking, so I can make an educated decision about whether or not it is a good fit for both of us. Thank you for understanding; it is my home, too. :~]

Other things to note
Due to Covid, plan on not having any guests outside of your Airbnb group. If there is a special circumstance that you'd like a special exception for, ask me that when you are requesting to book - or before! :~]

Space is not well-suited to those with mobility issues, unless they planned to sleep in one of the twin beds downstairs, as there is a full flight of stairs leading up to the massive living room, office, and the bedroom with the King-size bed. The two bedrooms are also quite far apart, so the house is not well suited for children under 6.

Vaulted ceilings are the norm in this rental. Stairway - and views - are gorgeous!

If you are interested in organic gardening, tree and grape grafting and the like, I'm more than happy to show you what I'm doing here on the land. :~]

NOTE: If you are not wanting to deal with your host, this is not the location for you. :~]
I welcome friendly (and social distancing) guests!

Location

Olympia, Washington, United States

This convenient, yet quiet neighborhood is only few blocks from a hill with a stunning, panoramic view of downtown Olympia, the capitol of Washington State. Downtown is only 1.5 miles away and an easy walk if one is so inclined. Nearby are neighboring towns, Lacey and Tumwater, as well as Tacoma just 28 miles away. Great place to stay if you plan on checking out Seattle and/or Portland, but want to sleep in a quiet, beautiful environment away from the traffic and hustle and bustle of the city.

Empath, Intuitive Counselor and Clairaudient - see my full name.c-m. I love to discuss everything from science to spirituality. I'm irreverent, sensitive, silly, love learning, love change. Very friendly in general, sometimes need my down time - and love open, friendly guests! Some of my favorite books are The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot, The Autobiography of a Yogi by Yogananda, Dave Barry Does Japan, Dave Barry Turns 50, A Delicate Balance by Rohinton Mistry, The Yukon Fever by Pierre Berton; Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster by Jon Krakauer, The Lost Daughters of China by Karin Evans, "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!" by Richard Feynman, A People's History of the United States by Howard Zinn (though it is a very painful read!), Night by Elie Wiesel, Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky (a movie I haven't seen was based on one of the chapters - but read it!), The Biology of Belief by Bruce Lipton, PhD; Blue Highways by William Least Heat-Moon, and just about anything by Amy Tan. Excited to share my new home with you! I look forward to tending to the same plants and trees for decades! I wish my 4 grown children had grown up here. I'm fluent in American Sign Language, and used to be very fluent in German. I even taught a German class to Irish businessmen, just north of Dublin, in 1979. I'd never get that same job now! :~] Was raised in a military family, so living in other cultures is quite comfy for me. Growing up, my family lived near Toyko, Japan and in the Rheinland Pfalz area of Germany as well as many places stateside. My favorite places on earth seem to be all about water, though I don't consciously seek it out: Ireland, Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, Canada; and the Puget Sound (Salish Sea) area of Washington State. You may think that I am not a big fan of hot places. You would be right. :~]

During your stay
I am very friendly, but am very respectful of my guests' privacy. My policy is plenty of good communication via text, email, or when we see each other outside. I welcome friendly and social distancing guests!

If you prefer more contact, I may be available for that, too. :~] I am a people lover.

I already mentioned this elsewhere, but it seems pertinent enough to mention again: This is a shared property, so if you have social limitations, such as discomfort or anxiety, I ask that you present that up front before booking, so I can make an educated decision about whether or not it is a good fit for both of us. Thank you for understanding!
