Description

The Space

NOTHING BEATS IT!
Lovely Edwardian house (3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms) in Inner Richmond neighborhood with distinguished amenities, park-like setting view and supreme location near the best of Golden Gate Park.

Cozy Giants Room @Golden Gate Park (Go GIANTS!) is one of the two guest bedrooms we have up for rent in our magnificent Edwardian house.

Guest Access

HOUSEHOLD
Guests will have access to all common areas in the Edwardian house (kitchen, TV room, glass atrium, living room with pool table, downstairs bathroom, sunny deck, and backyard), as well as their private bedroom and bedroom-level bathroom.

The Golden Gate Park 2 bedroom has queen size bed with top brand mattress; 32" satellite TV including HBO; cute closet with shell space and hangers; small refrigerator; free in-room WIFI; maps and guides; restaurant menus; iHome station; and a Keurig Tea/Coffee machine.
All linens are provided (sheets, towels, blankets, pillows, etc.)

The bedroom-level bathroom has a standing shower with amazing water pressure, and stacked washer and dryer at your disposal. Towels, conditioner, shower gel, shower cap, blow dryer, etc, are also provided.
*Because we have two guest bedrooms for rent, bathroom might be shared at certain times. Please ask.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a 4 range gas stove with sealed burners, side-by-side refrigerator, silent dishwasher, microwave, electric oven, and breakfast table.

The "middle TV room" includes a huge 60" LED smart TV with satellite (DirecTV including HBO) and gas/wood fireplace that is perfect for watching movies.

The glass atrium has a 42" TV with satellite (DirecTV including HBO), surround sound system, and an amazing view to the backyard and neighborhood.

The backyard is an urban garden oasis with built in charcoal barbecue and two seating areas. It is a great place to hang out with friends and/or read a book.

Interaction with Guests

HOSTS
You'll be sharing the house with your host, Viviane, houseowner Lele, and a lab-Samoyed mix rescue dog, Milo. It might occur that you only get to meet one (or neither) of us, since we both travel a lot. In this case, you will meet Cory, our governess. We are open to kind, unbiased people, straight and gay friendly. Also, we enjoy meeting genuine people and hearing their stories.

The Neighborhood

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
The Inner Richmond is a charming and diverse neighborhood, known for great Asian food, and craft beer breweries. There are great bars and restaurants on Clement St, Balboa St and Geary Blvd, but it is generally quiet at night. A great place to relax after a busy day seeing the city! Nearby neighborhoods like lower Haight, have active nightlife. You can easily walk or take public transit to and from the house in the evening or late at night. It is very safe around here.

DESTINATIONS
Grocery store, laundromats, cafe, restaurants, and bike shops (with rentals) all around the block - check the GUIDEBOOK. There is a lot to see and do nearby. We are only a block away from the De Young Museum, the California Academy of Sciences, The Conservatory of Flowers, and the Japanese Tea Garden. We are also a short and easy bike ride away from Ocean Beach, the Presidio, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Getting Around

TRANSPORTATION
There are numerous bus lines within the same block or a block away from the house - 5 Fulton, 21 Hayes, 28 19th-Avenue, 31 Balboa, 33 Stanyan, 38 Geary, 44 O'Shaughnessy. Even though bike shops are around the block, you are more than welcome to borrow our bike. Do not forget access from/to the airport is easy- the Bart train plus one bus ride takes you right to the front door.
Also, there are multiple start-ups that can facilitate your transportation in the City, here is a few:
Uber - Uber is a mobile app that allows riders to connect with drivers within minutes for shared rides. Uber is currently running a UberPool special in San Francisco: it costs $7 to get anywhere in the City and $15 to and from SFO airport. Make sure you select UberPool instead of UberX.
Zipcar - Zipcar is the world's largest car sharing and car club service. It is an alternative to traditional car rental and car ownership.
Getaround - Social car sharing: Rent cars by the hour from people around you.
Sidecar -  smartphone app matches everyday people in their own car with people nearby for shared rides.
Lyft - Same as Uber, Lyft is a mobile app for friendly, affordable shared rides.

PARKING
Parking is free but it is on the street (Hosts also park both cars on the street). In our neighborhood, parking is considerably easy to find and free. In most parts of the city, you must have a sticker to park more than a few hours, or pay for a parking garage. Around our house you don't need a sticker, and you can park your car and leave it up to two weeks (the only restriction is it must be moved for street cleaning two hours every other week). Signs are clearly posted telling you the times for street cleaning. Here are some general rules for parking in San Francisco:
1) Face the flow of traffic
2) Curb your tires on hills
3) Make sure the wheels closest to the curb are within 18 Inches
4) Do not block a driveway
5) Do not park on the red
6) Do not block handicapped ramp
7) Do not block crosswalks
8) Watch for signs (sometimes you need a permit to park on a specific block)
9) Watch for Tow-away signs
10) Watch for Street Cleaning days and times

I was born and raised in a small farm in the southeast of Brazil, about 6 hours from Sao Paulo. I moved to the US in 2007 to study Finance and Accounting while playing tennis.

I met Lele while directing a summer camp for international student-athletes at Stanford University. She invited me to move to San Francisco and, obviously, I said "YES". I have been to many places in the world, but nothing like San Francisco - you will soon discover why.

Lele is a San Francisco native but has also travelled the world. She is a renowned former professional tennis player (top 30 in the world) and one of the best collegiate tennis coaches in the US.

We love hosting people, traveling around the world, drinking good wine, eating gourmet food, bathing in warm weather, and exercising outdoors. We are very easy going people and we do our best to accommodate our guests.
