Unbeatable location!, apart from the famous Plaza Mayor at 20 meters, you will also find Puerta del Sol within 250 meters with is the heart of Madrid and main communication hub with trains, underground and busses to all the town and region and only 4 underground stops to Atocha main Madrid train station where you can take the famous AVE(fast train) to almost all the country .We are in the oldest part of Madrid called Austrias Quartier and we are walking distance to the Royal Opera house, The Royal Palace, The Cathedral, Palacio Santa Cruz, and main museums such as El Prado, Reina Sofia, Thyssen Bornemiza, Academia de San Fernando, and also the two best conventries worth visiting: La Encarnacion and Las Descalzas Reales.
In terms of shopping at Puerta de Sol and Preciados street you could find all the main general stores and shops.
This area of Madrid is popular also for cinemas an theatres , many of them showing Musicals shows, being Madrid nowdays the 3rd town in the world in offer after NYC and London for this kind of shows.
The area is also full of restaurants , many of them with more of 200 years of history where you can find all the traditional Spanish food and more specifically the Castilian dishes.
Austrias is charming, full of small streets and squares that bring you to the 16th century as the majority of the area is being pedestrianized, bars , coffee shops, etc. the area is always busy and with a very international crowd.

Everything in the kitchen is there for you to use. You're welcome to read the books but please don't take them outside the house and leave them where they were originally. Please do not move ore sleep in the sofas, use the beds¡¡. Avoid touching paintings and other decorative objects. Use air-conditioning and heating in a reasonable way, meaning don't leave all lights or the AC on when you leave the house. Think green. Smoking is not allowed inside the house but you can do it in the external balconies. Loud volume music is accepted but parties are not allowed. There are many bars and restaurants in the area that I can recommend if you want to meet with friends. Respect the neighbors. No unknown people in the apartment. Please use the dish washer for the kitchen ware, and take the litter to the bin downstairs or in the bin om the street in front of the building door. And please enjoy the apartment and the town¡¡. Thank you!
We had a terrific stay at Jose Manuel's beautiful apartment in Madrid. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, centrally located, bright in the mornings, surprisingly quiet at night given proximity to Plaza Mayor. Jose Manuel and Mercedes were excellent hosts-- easy and professional from our first interaction. My wife and I would recommend this apartment for anyone looking to stay in the old city, or for anyone seeing Madrid for the first time.
As impressive as the pictures look. Superb location with no need for taxis or public transport. Very happy and would absolutely recommend.
Amazing flat！Great location！We had a great time and would come back again！Thanks：）
Both Jose Manuel and Mercedes where great with all the details and the communication. The place has a perfect location, walking distance to most of the best sites in town, and the pictures reflect perfectly the apartment. I would definitively recommend this apartment and the hosts to anyone looking to have a great time in Madrid !
I've rented apts all over the world and this one is at the top of my list. Mercedes was an incredible host, the neighborhood was perfect and the apt was exactly how it's posted. I will definitely be referring friends!!!!!
Mercedes was very welcoming and helpful. The apartment is perfectly situated for any centrally located sites and attractions.
Mercedes came in on Friday night to help us with a blown fuse.Extremely grateful!
Everything was great. We were greeted at the apartment and were given help with our bags, then given a tour and a thorough check-in. The apartment is exactly as described - spacious, comfortable, clean and centrally located. Our host was very communicative and helpful, and even arranged a can for us to the airport ahead of time. Overall was a wonderful stay!
