Bring a book and lounge in the hammock. Enjoy the simpler things

The space
This off grid cabin is located on 125 acres of private land that is gated and backs up to Pisgah National Forest. It is 4 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway and to the top of Mount Pisgah. We are close to all of our favorite hiking spots and swimming holes on the Blue Ridge Parkway! An easy 25 minute drive to Asheville and all of it's amazing food and breweries. The cabin is 100% off the grid: that means solar panels for limited electricity needs, propane heaters help keep the cabin cozy during the winter, and an outdoor shower and outhouse. Enjoy our 3 burner propane cook top for cooking, granite countertops, a sink with a water dispenser for drinking water, board games and a very comfortable queen size bed. Lounge in the giant hammock under the trees.

Please bring your own Queen sized sheets, pillows, blankets and towels. If you can’t bring your own bedding please contact us in advance and we can make arrangements for you.

We provide a solar shower bag that can be used year around in the outdoor shower. We provide a list of other places to shower if you are staying for a longer period of time and crave a long shower or it is too cold to shower outdoors.

The cabin has mountain views through the trees and is tucked back in the woods on a flat gravel road that you will have to walk on to get to the house. You will stop and park near the out house. We provide a wagon to help get your things to the cabin. The outhouse is about 150 yards from the cabin with floor to ceiling glass windows looking out through the tree tops...definitely the best view you have ever seen from an outhouse! The outhouse is cleaned out weekly on Mondays sometime between 9-11 am by a service truck.

Our Goal Zero solar generator provides limited electricity to run the solar lights inside the cabin and charge your cell phone. We try to keep lanterns and flashlights around for you to use if needed. If it has been cloudy and you have run out of power, let us know! We have an extra solar generator in our storage space that we keep charged just in case.

Bring some wood and make s'mores in our fire pit!

Bring a cooler for your perishables since we do not have a fridge.

We do not have wifi but you MAY get cell phone reception depending on your carrier.

We love all dogs of any size and welcome them to come on vacation with you! They will need to be left in crates if left indoors while you are out adventuring in town. Bring dog beds along for them. We are happy to be able to provide a dog friendly space since we too are dog owners and lovers....we just request you clean up after them, relocate their poops to the woods, and be sure to sweep up their extra dog hair before you leave.

Guest access
Our favorite hiking and swimming holes are near the cabin on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Check out Black Balsam, Graveyard fields, Mount Pisgah, Skinny dip falls, Devils Courthouse and just hiking the Mountain to Sea trail (marked by a white dot). They often close the parkway for snow/ice conditions during the winter so be sure to check on road closure information before visiting. Even if the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed, you can drive up to it and park at the end of the road getting to it and hike up or down the Mountain to Sea trail! It's actually a great time to be up there since there are no people or cars! Both ways lead to breath taking views.

Near the cabin, there is a great hike off of Chestnut Creek Road that we enjoy hiking along the creek and letting our dogs play in the water.

Other things to note
PLEASE NOTE BEFORE YOU BOOK

Bring your own pillows, Queen size sheets, blankets or sleeping bags.

We provide a solar shower bag. It can be used year around in the outdoor shower (weather permitting!). Extra water is available at the well. Be sure to bring a towel! Other shower alternatives will be listed in the house manual.

This is a hike in/hike out cabin, so you will need to pack your belongings with the understanding that you will have to carry your things 150 yards down a road. We have a wagon there to help you get your things to the cabin. There is no refridgerator so please remember to bring a cooler and ice along with you.

Don't forget to bring firewood and some S'mores!

My work: Dentist
Lives in Asheville, North Carolina
I was born and raised in Asheville. I lived in California for 10 years to attend school and then I moved back home to Asheville to practice dentistry with my father. I love camping, biking, running, playing at the lake, and going on adventures. I can’t cook so I have eaten just about everywhere in Asheville so if you need advice on where to go, I’m pretty hip to what's good. I have been told that Airbnb is my hobby and I have to admit that they are right! I love dreaming up ideas for cabins and spaces. It’s been so fun for me to do and I love getting to see people enjoy the spaces so please share photos with me on Insta gram under Pisgah Highlands.
