Romantic, super private, mountain top vacation home with a million dollar view on 80 acres. 2 hours away from the George Washington bridge, NYC.

The space
The house has natural beauty throughout. There is a great view from every single room.
Sit by the outdoor fire place on the deck and watch the sunset.
Curl up with a book by the indoor fire place. Enjoy free WiFi in the whole house.

The “Gable House", was designed by the award winning Ross Chapin Architects. It is featured in several publications, including the 8/13/2003 issue of the New York Times.

The house in in immaculate shape with all the luxuries and necessities you would imagine.

It is professionally cleaned on a regular basis with natural/organic cleaning products. Since I have small children I am always as careful and aware as I can be of any health issues. We strive to keep the place in perfect condition at all times.

I am available to interact with the guests by phone/e-mail/text before, during and after the stay.

iPhone stereo plug is ready to play your own music on the stereo. It is a powerful system and can play with clarity throughout the whole house.

There is a Steinway piano in the master bedroom. I do not mind if you play it. Just please be respectful of the expensive instrument.

The first thing I noticed is that this hilltop hideaway is surrounded by a beautiful peaceful silence. I am particularly sensitive to sound; upon arrival, I found none but the wind in the trees. The first night I fell into a comfy bed and slept through 9 hours without interruption. (I haven't done that since the fifth grade). The house itself is impeccably clean. The kitchen is outfitted with anything and everything you could need for cooking and dining. The bath towels are thick and luxurious; and, lovely bath soaps were put out. This is a great escape for nature lovers. The view of trees and land below makes your heart swell. Every day there were groups of deer in the backyard. And on one afternoon a large rafter of turkeys sauntered through. There is easy access to gorgeous hiking: Willowemac Forest, Crystal Lake where the chickadees sung to me all the way around the lake, and the trails around Mud Pond and Trout Pond where I saw not another soul, all of which I could experience in a long weekend. "There are experiences of landscape that will always resist articulation, and of which words offer only a distant echo." Robert MacFarlane. Alfred's beautiful home & surroundings offered me such an experience for which I am grateful. Alfred's earnestness and care were heartfelt. He was always readily available both before and during my stay. There is some magic attached to this place. Maybe it's the residue of joy from the people who have had the privilege to visit. Or maybe it's the generosity of its owner who is so open and willing to share. Thank you so much, Alfred.
