Casa Los Suenos is a guest house with the Rio Tigre right in front of the property in the forest reserve of the Corcovado National Park. A very peaceful setting at the edge of the village, no street lights and the sounds of the rainforest all around.

The space

This tropical casa is located in Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre at the end of the road where the jungle begins. A very wild place indeed and Casa los Suenos is a private guest house but not isolated as the property manager’s home is right next door. This is very helpful in assuring guests have the best possible experience but not for someone looking for a completely secluded vacation rental with no neighbors.

The Osa Peninsula, southwest Costa Rica is where the rainforest meets the sea. It is in one of the most remote, most spectacular and wildest regions in the country. One of the last places in Costa Rica to be settled, it has been dubbed Costa Rica's last wilderness frontier. Rich in wildlife, sparsely populated and until recently very difficult to access by road. Consequently much of the peninsula is still covered in majestic, pristine rainforest. Dominated by Corcovado National Park which protects most of the peninsula, the Osa supports more then fifty percent of the animal and plant species that live in Costa Rica. National Geographic has described the Osa as, "The most biologically intense place on earth".

Interaction with guests

Welcome, Bienvenidos

Please note we really prefer that guests do not check-in after 6:00 pm. If you’re driving from an area that is far away (we advise you that driving times are usually much longer then what you might think) then take your time and enjoy the drive, no need to rush, you’re on holiday!

In an effort to conserve energy and respect the environment turn off everything when not in use, do not forget the lights and fans.

Casa los Suenos is located in the Forest Reserve of the Corcovado National Park and many amazing creatures live here. A word of caution: some of them are dangerous. Make sure that you bring a head lamp and or flashlight. Always carry a lamp at night and use caution when walking in the jungle.

There is no rubbish service in the jungle and we recycle what we can. We ask that you separate your recyclables and use the appropriate bins provided.

Please do not bring plastic drinking water bottles, we have some of the best water in Costa Rica! Bring one bottle for your drinking water and re-use it, we love our beautiful jungle paradise and want to keep that way!

Just like in much of Costa Rica, our septic tank is unable to handle any paper or feminine products so we ask that you place these things in the bin provided next to the toilet. It would be appreciated if you do not smoke inside of the house.

Although we have never had problems in the past, always take precaution before you leave and lock your doors.

When staying with us at Casa los Suenos we want you to consider it your home for as long as your vacation lasts, and we are sure you will love it and treat it as if it is your own.

Pura Vida,

Tristan

Tristan was extremely helpful and organized with arranging tours and giving advice for doing things on your own. We loved the location in Dos Brazos, you are steps away from all the trails in Bolita and Corcovado. The house was very comfortable and the deck with the hammocks will be missed the most. We will definitely be back!

Tristan was a fabulous host and the house was perfect, spotless and well equipped. We loved the trails and hiking both nearby and around Osa - Tristan gives you many great tips for exploring! We had so much wildlife right in the yard and the guided hikes were a highlight (night hike and Corcovado El Tigre trails). Emelio the cat will make you feel right at home and will even alert you when there are birds nearby! The town is friendly and it's an ideal location for hiking, birding, wildlife and living in a community.

Casa Los Suenos was one of the highlights of our weeklong trip to Costa Rica. Apprehensive at the remoteness of the location at first, we ended up leaving wishing we had booked a full week. Tristan was a friendly host and was extremely helpful during our stay. Take advantage of all of his recommendations for activities and places to eat. We hiked the El Tigre region of Corcovado with a guide he set up for us prior to arriving (Roger was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide). There are many beaches to explore within an hour, as well as a variety of hiking trails just a short walk from the from door. Three nights and two full days to explore felt like the minimum time for this location. Tristan made us coffee on our last morning before leaving.

Awesome place to stay near the national park! The location was amazing for both guided and independent walks in the forest, and nearby river and waterfalls, with spectacular wildlife. Our one sighting of the endangered squirrel monkeys was on a walk from his house. The house was extremely clean and comfortable, and totally lived up to the pictures on this site. The kitchen set up is great and the deck with the hammocks was quite luxuriously relaxing. Tristan is a wonderful host, always available to help us with logistics, even when we needed some extra help renting a car and changing some of our plans. He has great connections with the most excellent guides, and found the perfect one for our specific interests in wildlife and conservation biology. We stayed 5 days and were truly delighted in everything. We most definitely plan to go back to stay at Tristan's place again.

Looking to get off the beaten path? Casa los Suenos is your answer. My husband and I spent 4 nights at the casa, to best experience the rain forest and have access to Corcodova National Park. Assets: - House is just as described and what some would consider "glamping". The house does come with a fridge/freezer, working stove, bathroom and all the essentials you need, though is more simple than luxurious. There is no A/C, but in many of the places I've stayed in Costa Rica, almost no one does. The fans do help, but the first night we stayed, after a heavy rain, the power went out for a few hours and made for a hot night. The rest of our stay, fans definitely help to keep you cool, but considering you're in the rain forest, high humidity and temps is to be expected. -Tristan will go out of his way to make sure all your needs are taking care of and is a very attentive host. -Walking down the road out front, you can access the river. Turn left and walk in the riverbed and you come to a small waterfall about 5-7 minutes down. With the heat, this was our favorite discovery. Who needs a pool, when you have a whole river to cool down in? -The balcony is the best feature of the house, allowing you to cool off in a hammock with the cross-breeze, or enjoy the afternoon showers. -You get immediate access to Corcovado National Park. We went on a guided tour that took 8 hours, going into the primary rainforest. Word of warning- this hike will kick your butt. Be sure you are fit, or it'll be a long, hot day, trekking 500m straight up hill with 100% humidity. -Lunch can be ordered when you go on a hike and it's delicious! It's a banana-leaf wrapped lunch, full of beans, rice and chicken. Concerns: - Saying your off the beaten path is an understatement. The village is very small and going back into town takes 30 minutes down an unpaved, bumpy road. Knowing what I do now, we definitely would have rented a car. Round-trip will set you back $50 for cab fare, so if you're wanting to go in town for food, tours, etc., the fares can add up quickly. - You really do need to bring all supplies with you (again, hour round trip to get to town). We go the basics for 4 days and it set us back ~$100. It seems anything packaged is fairly expensive, so if you are open to eating simply, you can probably get by for less. - Hiking and enjoying the quiet are the two main draws of this property. If you are looking to go, go, go, you may want to limit how many days you rent. Overall, a great location at a great value if you are looking to for access to Corcovado National park and get off the beaten path.
