Other Things to Note
Please feel free to spray the plants in the patio
Keep the water fountain full at all times . Feel free to spray the plants if you feel they needed. Open the street main door windows and the apartment door windows also for cross ventilation .Please take extra care of the dinning set , it is a real family antique. Keep the A/Cs off when not in use , electricity is very expensive in Puerto Rico ! Leave all the dishes clean and take the trash out before leaving, there are green city trash cans at the corner. Please do not smoke indoors , be considered with the future non smoking guests .
It is extremely important to make sure you turn off the ACs before checking out ! Also please keep your voice down if you hang out late at night in the patio , there are other neighbors leaving in the building and the noise from the patio can be heard in their homes
Electricity is very , very expensive in PR
Our entire experience with Carlos and Margarita was excellent. Carlos was graceful and speedy with his responses during booking, and Margarita was very communicative and flexible (via text, which was convenient) about our arrival in Old San Juan, as we were driving from Rincon.
When we arrived, Margarita gave us a tour of the apartment (it was so clean!) and went through a book of recommendations for local spots. We love Airbnb because of that very reason, so that was awesome. She even grabbed us frosty local beers when she didn't see any in the fridge - so nice after a long drive!
The whole apartment is really lovely and comfortable. The patio was wonderful, and if we'd stayed longer we would have taken advantage of the great kitchen. (We mostly ate out.) The bathroom shower is so relaxing. The location in Old San Juan can't be beat. We left our car parked on the street for those few days and walked everywhere. We only took a cab once, into Santurce, and that was very easy.
The only negative thing about the stay was the presence of a consistently crying baby and a loud family on the floor above us, but we thought maybe they were guests as well so we tried to ignore the noise.
We stayed in several different places during a weeklong tour of the island, and we agreed this was our favorite spot by far. Would definitely stay here again!
Carlos leaves most of the day-to-day business to his longtime best friend, Margarita, when you're actually there. Margarita was incredibly helpful, friendly, warm, and eager to give any recommendations you might need. If I called or texted, the response time was immediate. The neighborhood was amazing! It wasn't overtly loud and the music from the alley around the corner was actually welcomed. It was fun! You're a stones throw from San Cristobal and the adjacent park which makes for some amazing sunrise/sunset views. OSJ is very tourism-centric considering but being up the island pretty far away from the ports, etc - you felt pretty relaxed out on the open air patio. We want to go back to Puerto Rico to explore more of the island but if we want to go back for a night or two in Old San Juan, I definitely plan to call Carlos/Margarita and see if the apartment is up for grabs!
The apartment is even nicer in person that's the photos show! Really enjoyed it, would stay there again and highly recommend it.
Carlos and Margarita were both very easy to contact when we had any questions. The apartment was exactly as shown in the photos and is in a great location. Many things to see and do all within easy walking distance. We loved it!
Stayed at this place with my mom for four nights, needed two separate bedrooms. We had a great time at the apartment and I recommend to anybody that wants to stay in Old San Juan. It works for a couple and it is even better for a couple with a child / children. Also works well for a bunch of friends going has space for 4-5. The host was very welcoming and made sure we are doing just fine. Location is excellent as well and a bit away from the (too) commercial part.
The host and his assistant were excellent. They were clear about check-in and check-out and were readily available to answer questions before and during our stay.
The photos are an accurate representation of the apartment. The kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom air conditioning were well equipped to make our stay comfortable and relaxing in between days and nights out sight-seeing.
It was a wonderful base of operations for our adventures in Old Town. It really is right in the heart of Old San Juan. We were just a few blocks from some spectacular restaurants and bars and a block from an ocean view. We had plans to visit other parts of San Juan during our 3 day stay, but found so much we wanted to see right in the area that we actually never left Old Town.
The hosts provided a map and invaluable book of restaurant recommendations. We stuck to the list and didn't have a bad meal the entire time we were there.
Would visit again.
The location was great, one block off the water and right next to a fantastic local bar n restaurant. Inside the place was quiet and breezy as you can leave the large patio doors open for cross ventilation while maintaining privacy. We never actually met Carlos, though he was prompt with his email replies. Instead we were greeted by Margarita who was fantastic. She saved us a parking spot by literally standing in it until we arrived. She gave us the skinny on local eats, sites, and activities and was very warm and welcoming. I don't typically consider staying at a place more than once but I would come back to this spot in a heartbeat. An amazing first Airbnb experience. Gracias!
