Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
King bed, private bathroom, microwave, and mini fridge. Has four walls, not outside. Property is 145 acres. About a mile of Colorado River frontage. Surrounded by thousands more acres and no neighbors. Lots of hiking, kayaks, usually a beach, side by sides, fossils, and wildlife. One of four rooms in the lodge. Common area is kitchen, dining room, and living room. Two outdoor grills.

Seven additional rentals on the property if the king doesn't fit your needs.

The space
Base Camp and Last Hurrah are remote. Similar landscape to Canyonlands, without all the people. Lots of big horn and mule deer. Two six seater side by sides, nine kayaks, and endless hiking and climbing. Two disc golf courses with fearsome reputations. Fossils, dinosaur tracks, Indian artifacts, petroglyphs, finger canyons, and center to the Jackson Hole trail, Chicken Corner, Lockhart Basin, Hurrah Pass, and close to the Wind Caves and all the bicycle trails on the Amasa Back. View of Dead Horse Point, Canyonlands, Anti-Cline, and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Large security tortoise, all kinds of squirrels, chipmunks, at least 54 species of birds, and in the evenings ringtails, skunks, raccoons, and fox come to the lodge porch to eat. No it's not dangerous for kids. The night sky is amazing. It's doubtful you've ever seen so many stars and the Milky Way is a nightly occurrence for much of the year. Depending on who the President is sometimes part of the property is in Bear's Ears National Monument.

Guest access
You have free access to the beach, Colorado river, kayaks, hiking, climbing and our breakeven for the side by sides is $200. You can kayak by the beach, up river and back down, or around the island.

During your stay
It's rare when I'm not on the property somewhere. Everyone has a walkie talkie or access to one. I always have mine with me and always turned on. If you need anything I'm available. I can give you hand drawn maps (the professional ones are wrong) of hikes you can do and side by sides.

Other things to note
The road is most often mentioned in reviews which normally ends with "it's worth it". A mostly dirt road which normally doesn't needs four wheel drive but it does need five or so inches of ground clearance. Most SUV's, Jeeps, and trucks have that. Most sedans and vans do not. In most instances swing wide on the corners going up and down Hurrah Pass and if you've driven a dirt road before you should be fine. If height is an issue for you there will be lots of issues up and down Hurrah Pass.

As an alternative call Twisted Jeep in town. Tell them you are coming out here. They'd rather have their vehicle on this road than one of the more difficult ones so if they can give you a deal they will.

There's no stores out here so bring your food and whatever you'd like to drink besides water.

When you make your request tell me you have a suitable vehicle and will bring your own food and I'll approve the request otherwise I'll email you to get confirmation.

If you plan to use one of the side by sides while you’re here there’s no reserving them in advance. I have two six seater side by sides and I have eight potential rentals so I can’t give it to you all day. I charge $250. You can use it to go to Wind Caves and Chicken Corner which usually take most folks four hours. They are not for taking to town or the other side of Hurrah Pass. Strictly sightseeing the area. I don’t have credit cards so check or cash.
