The Forest Cottage is a little cottage that thinks it's big enough for full-sized furniture, a huge shower and a king-sized bed. Embedded in a cedar forest, this tiny house offers your destination for a time to kick back and relax.

We require a one-day "no-stay" to run the ozone generator and sanitize the Cottage in addition to our regular make-ready cleaning.

The space
Bring some steaks or chicken and sides if you like to grill out. Your deck is private and is lit until 9:30 each night.

Your cottage comes with "Alexa" with just about every genre of music you can think of through Amazon's music library. So, whatever your mood, dial in the music of your choice.

You will be close to Magnolia and Baylor (about 13 minutes) and everything else downtown Waco has to offer. For a slower pace, you're about 2 minutes away from Homestead Heritage and their number-one-rated restaurant, Cafe Homestead. They now serve breakfast Monday through Saturday. Don't just eat though. There is a lot to see and do so allow some time to walk around. Their newest shop is the Basket shop where you can see beautiful baskets or sign up to make one yourself.

THE KITCHEN
It's actually what I would call a "kitchenette." You have a microwave, a two-slice toaster, a single cup coffee maker with a variety of coffees and teas, dishes and a separate sink. If you really want to cook, remember the gas grill on the deck.

Guest access
The photos attempt to show you the house and the deck. We have some chickens in movable cages (called "chicken tractors") located in between the rows of blackberries.

Other things to note
Your water heater is a tankless (never-ending) style so, if you're the type who likes to take (l o n g) showers, you will be in Heaven.

We have WiFi that varies from blazing fast to not so great. I've been told we don't have control of that.

There is no TV.

You'll be on our land in rural Waco. There's a gate to get in that is almost never closed. If we do feel the need to close it (never have), we'll make sure you have its code. Most of our neighbors are part of Homestead Heritage. Once you get to know them, you'll see they are a pretty wonderful group.

Donna and I have been happily married for over 45 years and it seems like it just keeps getting better and better. She's a homemaker and my day job is as a web designer. We have three grown kids that all live within a couple of miles. We've just started in the vacation rental business and it keeps both of us hoping to get more landscaping done now that we've finished the cottages. It's a supplement to our retirement but the real pay from owning these vacation rentals is reading your comments and feedback in the Guestbook. The guests we have had have all been absolutely wonderful. We had another company managing the property until recently but decided to take it back because we felt distanced from everything except washing sheets and towels. So, as mentioned elsewhere, we will protect your privacy but we want to at least meet you--even if it is just to say, "You're Welcome Here."

During your stay
We hope we can greet you when you get here and answer any questions you might have.

You're on YOUR schedule. (Except checkout time at 11. We need the time to get things pristine for our next guests. Hope you understand.)

While you are here, you probably won't see us, unless we happen to cross paths in the parking area, or if you need something we can help with. You'll have my cell number when you get here. Please use it if you need anything.
