This beautifully appointed Colorado style yurt is on acreage that borders the Embudo River in Dixon, NM. Walk with your coffee to the river and meditate. Dixon is a lovely community known for its history, culture, and art. We have 3 Vineyards and a brewery within a few miles. There are many beautiful trails and river rafting. It is a small charming town and our local food places close by 6pm. If you wish, I can provide a charcuterie box for your arrival. Inquire when you book. There is a fee.

The space
I live in a yurt full time on the property . I am committed to this simple, light footprint and love to share it. We only use natural simple cleaners. Our sheets and comforters are cotton and down. Everything is washed in environmentally safe detergents with no scents and dried in the sunshine. 90% alcohol is used to disinfect surfaces, 24 hours between guests and ozone is run for several hours. The floors are wood. Our food is local and organic whenever possible. We avoid disposable products unless they are compostable. We surround your stay with natural beauty, natural local body care products and local art!

The Queen size memory foam bed has 500 count cotton sheets. There is power in the yurt. Cell phone service can be sporadic on site, but it is better in town which is 1.5 miles down the road. There is WiFi on site. The library has computers, wifi, copies, scanning and faxing.

There is clean water available in the yurt in a water dispensing crock and a Brita water pitcher. An electric kettle is provided as well as tea and coffee and a pour over coffee carafe. It is expected that guests will enjoy the local restaurants rather than preparing meals on site. There is a hot plate and toaster oven for warming up food. There is a mini fridge stocked with local libations in the outdoor kitchen. There are suggested donations and it is honor based. You will need cash for these items.

The outdoor kitchen has running water for 3 seasons and it is drained for the winter. The separate bathroom is now usable all seasons! Hot and cold water cast iron tub/shower....soak with local herbal products. Do not consider staying during cold weather unless you are proficient with a wood stove.

Note: this is a yurt and glamping with full amenities, although there is not air conditioning. If you come during the summer it is wise to learn from locals. Rest or sit in the river or visit one of our beautiful wineries or our local brewery during the heat. We have built rock pools in the river to relax and refresh in.

Remember this is an eco vacation with a small foot print for people seeking such an adventure. A degree of self sufficiency is necessary.

Living in a yurt has been a long time dream of mine. I'm living the dream...close to nature and as simply as I can. My next dream is to complete a sailing course and live aboard part time.

I have stayed in other yurts and on permaculture farms with air b&b on Hawaii.

I enjoy sharing the experiential knowledge that I have gained with those seeking a simpler more beautiful life...whether short term as a guest or guidance in the way of the yurt as a lifestyle.

I believe we honor this life we are given by REALLY LIVING!
