Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Rustic Spring House on sheep ranch. 68 acres to roam with stream, ponds, sheep, horses, donkeys, and chickens. Enjoy the life of a shepherd, within three mile of a quaint college town and home of Jimmy Stewart and 30 min. from Smicksburg, an Amish community.
It's very reminiscent of a true Scottish BnB with North Country Cheviot Sheep.
When available, breakfast is served in the main farm house. It’s either a seasonal farm to table meal or a continental breakfast with scones.

The space
Roam the farm, and sit on the back porch of the farmhouse. Two upper rooms and a lower spring house room and pond.

This is a farm so you should bring appropriate footwear. Please only drive on gravel areas.

This is like glamping! The Spring House is adjacent to the barn where we have lots of cute farm animals. We ask that you please keep the door shut so you don’t get flies or other insects in the house.

We have a composting toilet so you might have some very slight odor.

We have other rooms in the farmhouse if you’d prefer a place with regular toilets.

Guest access
Enjoy the back porch, family room, or pond for coffee in the morning, and the breakfast nook. The entire Spring House. Please only go into the barn with a staff member. Please don't feed the animals.

Other things to note
We provide a minimum continental breakfast of homemade scones, fruit, and yogurt. When I’m available I make farm-to-table breakfasts seasonally utilizing our free-range eggs, in-season veggies, and our natural grass-fed lamb sausage or free range pork.
Or if you’d like a lighter breakfast we also serve lovely yogurt parfaits to eat here or to go. We bake our scones too.
Please let us know if you want the futon made up or left as a couch.

My work: Owner Burnhead Grazings
I'm a Christian writer, artist, illustrator, shepherdess, & aunt. I love the people, animals & land I've been given to care for. The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens and upon their death gave the property to Moire Bridges. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions. Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization. Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. Moire is also a fine artist and gives classes on wool felting. Ask about signing up for a class or book a private felting party.
