Where you’ll be

Dominical, Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica

The home is situated on the mountain in the jungle just 10-15min drive from Dominical beaches.
Surrounded by jungle, gardens, creeks and a plethora of animals and birds. Frequent visits from monkeys, sloths, toucans, pisote and other indigenous wildlife. Great location for hiking, exploring and bird watching.
Dominical lies on the Southern Pacific Coast and is bordered to the north by the Río Barú, a freshwater river that runs from the mountains into the sea. There are two national reserves (Hacienda Baru) in the area, and three more only an additional hour and a half away (Manuel Antonio National Park, Corcovado National Park and Caño Island National Preserve). To the south is the country’s underwater national park, Marino Ballena. The area has multiple biological corridors allowing the animals to move within and around the area. Because of this, the area is full of hundreds of different species of exotic animals including; toucans, giant green and red iguanas, four types of native monkeys, parrots, sloths, various small cats and other native mammals. Things to see and do, around Dominical: Surfing - With waves over 10 feet high, four kilometers of sandy beach, and warm water, Dominical is a surfer’s paradise. It has attracted surfers from all over the world since the 70’s. Never surfed but want to learn how? There are plenty of surf schools that can help you. Mangrove exploration – Get up close and personal with a plethora of birds, reptiles, and plants that are indigenous to these environments. Corcovado National Park – Ranked the third best national park in the world by National Geographic, this 103,000 acre park is home to 140 different mammals, 400 types of birds, plus monkeys, jaguars, and sea turtles. Fishing & Fresh seafood – If you’re into fishing, the waters off Dominical are prime for catching sailfish, marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi, and more. There are plenty of restaurants where you can enjoy the fresh catch while watching the surf and/or sunset. Jungle tours –ATV or horse tours to enjoy the beautiful rainforests, waterfalls, and wildlife. The Nauyaca Waterfalls are a popular destination nearby, and zip lining and tree climbing in the canopy is an adrenaline packed activity for adventurers. Whale watching – The Marino Ballena National Park is an incredible place to see humpback whales and dolphins. Diving and Snorkeling – Cano Island, which offers some of the best adventure diving in the world.
