Guest access
All of the above-mentioned space is available to guests and there are 83 acres of mountain trails that you are welcome to explore at your own risk. if you do go up the mountain, we advise you to take ample supplies and water, suitable clothing for your comfort and a compass as the weather can be changeable and you can easily get turned around. It might also behoove you to let us know of your plans, just in case. Please ask for directions to the trails.
Other things to note
The mountain is mostly a peaceful place to stay. Sometimes on the weekends throughout the spring, summer, and fall we have our house band, the Mondo Jelly Kings play at our purpose-built stage to a small audience on the open-air amphitheater, which is close to the yurt (less than 200 yards). If you come to stay during the time of their performance, you will be invited to watch the show free of charge and join in the fun. We follow local guidelines and the staged music is finished by 11 pm (often earlier). There are domestic animals that live on the property as well as the wildlife, (2 dog, 4 cats, lots of chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, and turkeys. They will not usually bother guests. if this is a problem we will endeavor to keep them away from the yurt. We hope you will see them as part of its charm. If you have a pet, we ask that you keep it on the deck of the yurt (there are trellised gates on the deck which will give your fur family the freedom to be off-leash) and on a leash while accessing the property, and please do not leave unattended. Bear in mind that the yurt is in a rural setting and although we do our very best to make sure it is as clean as possible, bugs and other wildlife are a feature that you should be aware of and there is little we can do about them. After each guest, the yurt is thoroughly disinfected, cleaned, swept, and dusted throughout. We wash all the bedding, table linen, and the floor. Crockery, cutlery, and BBQ equipment are all washed in anticipation of your comfort. If you come across an issue, please let us know and we will endeavor to rectify it to your satisfaction. Also please be aware that there are also camping sites on the property and we do get busy during holiday periods which can mean sharing bathrooms and showers.
The mountain can be dangerous and we would ask that you plan to hike our trails (which border the National forest) that you go fully prepared. A compass, good walking boots, water, and snacks are a good idea. Always let someone know your hiking plans on the mountain. If you are new to hiking trails or want a tamer walk; we would suggest you keep to the lower 25 acres of the mountain unless you are an experienced hiker. Please respect our neighbor's boundary lines which are well marked.
It will depend on which phone carrier you have whether you get a signal or not. Verizon, Sprint, and US cellular are fairly reliable. There is a satellite phone at the main house in case of emergencies, although if the WiFi is not working neither will the phone. (this does not happen often and usually only in bad weather).
As previously stated, we live on a mountain. The entrance to the yurt driveway has rocks on either side and because of the angle of the driveway, it is best for guests to reverse into the driveway space rather than try to drive into it.
It is our aim at Arcadia Sanctuary to give you the best possible experience possible so that you leave always wanting to return.
