Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
The lookout inspired Outpost Treehouse (not actually attached to a tree) sits in a white pine forest in the middle of a 50 acre active farm. The 15 hand crafted windows allow for great views watching out for Michigan wildlife--White tail deer, turkeys, owls, coyote have all been spotted from the elevated wrap around deck. The biggest regret that guests have noted is “we wish we would have stayed longer”!

The space
The treehouse has all the modern amenities--Air conditioning, furnace, private bath with shower, hot and cold running water. Solar power is used for interior lights. The 14x14 room has a queen size bed, a comfy chair, small table with 2 chairs, buffet cabinet with bar sink, small refrigerator for drinks and coffee maker. To access the bathroom you must go outside and downstairs...there are lights on the staircase for those nightly trips!

New kitchen, dining area and half bath now complete. Just a few steps away over walkway from treehouse upper level. Kitchen equipped with a microwave, mini fridge and a two burner cooktop. The sofa becomes a queen bed for the extra guests. There is also a propane gas grill outside. A small amount of firewood is provided so you can enjoy an evening by the campfire.

Close by there is a heated/air conditioned “glamping” tent . This should only be used from May-September. There is an extra cost for use of the tent. If you have more than 2 guests the tent will be automatically added but if you plan on using the tent please let us know. It is a 12x14 platform tent that has windows on 3 sides, a front door with screen, 2 beds (30x78). This is designed to accommodate another couple or older children who can sleep alone. The cost is an additional $25/night cost for each person. There is an electric heater for the cool nights but we don’t recommend using the tent in March,April, November or December . There is a portable air conditioner for your comfort during the warm summer. The tent is always in addition to the treehouse. You cannot rent just the tent.

Guest access
Relax, watch for wildlife, sit around the camp fire (minimal wood provided) or take a walk through the woods-long pants and closed toed shoes are recommended…it’s the woods-there is poison ivy and poison oak in places. When the weather is wet-boots are recommended.

If you must connect to the world, complimentary wifi is available, along with a 32” Roku TV.

Other things to note
We have a strict NO PETS policy.

There is a gunsmith right next door so you may occasionally hear shooting. It is safe to walk around on our property. If you have any concerns you can message us.

Neighborhood highlights

Secluded rural setting but only a short drive to “city life”. Some things to see and do within 30 minutes : Kalamazoo Air Zoo, Barn Theater (Augusta), Binder Park Zoo (Battle Creek), Kingman Museum ( Battle Creek), Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary (Athens). Within 15 minutes of Binder Park Golf Course and many restaurants in Battle Creek. Some guests stop and eat before they arrive or pick up a “to-go” order to eat when they arrive to save the 10 mile trip back to town.

Fort Custer Sate Park is about 18 miles away. It has great biking trails, hiking trails and Eagle Lake. Also in Battle Creek is Ott Biological Preserve-a 300 acre nature preserve and Woodland Park -a 145 acre nature preserve

We are both retired, grandparents of 10. Hobbies of Stan are golf and improving and maintaining the treehouse and our surrounding acreage. Hobbies of Deb are sewing, crocheting, knitting and spending time with grandkids. There is a barn and pasture but don’t currently have any animals. We are excited to share the results of Stan’s handiwork-the deer blind/treehouse ( this is what I originally called it) with others..
