Welcome to the private daylight basement of our Tudor home in beautiful Montlake! Warm, inviting suite has a bedroom with queen-sized bed, a bathroom with shower, and a cozy TV room with a double sofabed. Perfect for family, couple, or two friends. Interlaken Park and the Arboretum are steps away; UW Husky Stadium and Light Rail are a short walk or bus ride. In lieu of kitchen we offer a microwave, fridge, Keurig coffee...and insider tips from your host, a restaurant critic. Dedicated parking.

The space
The private entrance to your guest suite is through our garage (you'll have a code) and laundry room, two utilitarian spaces you will simply use to access your suite. Once you're in the suite it's entirely your own. We are a busy couple with an active life, so you may hear music or footsteps from time to time. You are our guests, however, and we will try our very best not to disturb you. Nothing fancy about our space, but it's warm and comfortable!

Guest access
We keep our living space our own, and will not encroach on yours except for the occasional foray into the garage (from the outside) to grab a bike. If we need to access the laundry room for any reason, we'll give you a heads-up first and we will not pass through or enter into your suite.

Other things to note
Covid-19 note: We are entirely vaccinated. In addition to our usual rigorous cleaning protocols, we are thoroughly disinfecting all surfaces between guests with an EPA-approved bleach solution, paying special attention to frequently touched surfaces like doorknobs and handles. A container of Clorox Wipes will be on hand in the suite for you to use during your stay. Our guests' health and safety is very important to us!

Please be aware that the price quoted for the suite is the two-guest price. Parties of three will pay $15 more per night; parties of four will pay $30 more per night.

Please note that the suite has no kitchen, just a mini-fridge, Keurig coffeemaker, and microwave.

Please also note that the bathroom of the suite is entered through the bedroom.

Finally, guests whose respiratory systems are hyper-sensitive to moisture in the air will want to be fully aware that our suite is a basement in 1920s-era house in a damp part of the world! For this reason we have a couple of dehumidifiers for guests' use. Out of 700+ parties, only three individuals have experienced a problem with this, and the great majority have been very comfortable. Just FYI!

About as pastoral as it gets 10 minutes from downtown, Montlake is a quiet and leafy neighborhood with quick access to the University of Washington, Capitol Hill, Downtown, Fremont, and the Eastside.

Generously laced with beautiful large parks for runners (Interlaken Park is our backyard, the Arboretum/Japanese Garden/shore of Lake Washington just 15 minutes by foot, Volunteer Park is a walk through a forest), Montlake also has two terrific kids' play structures within walking distance. Bike rentals are a half-mile away at Montlake Bicycle Shop, with Seattle's premiere bike trail, the Burke-Gilman, just a mile further on. Kayaks are available for rent at Agua Verde Paddle Club; canoes and rowboats are available for rent at UW Waterfront Activities Center. Both are within a mile of our home.

Fuel Coffee, Oxbow (cafe and coffeehouse), the exquisite woodfired pizza restaurant Cafe Lago, the Italian coffee/gelato/nosh bar and grocery Little Market on Portage Bay, and a gourmet grocery called Mont's are within a mile. The bakery/restaurant Macrina is a 25-minute walk uphill through the beautiful forest behind our home.
