Located in Uptown Oakridge, this cottage is the ideal base for exploring the world class recreation opportunities on the Middle Fork Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest including mountain biking (our favorite), kayaking, hiking, backpacking and water play. Play all day then grill out on the back deck as the light fades over town and Larison Ridge. Pets and long term stays welcome.

The space
Our cottage is not fancy; just a clean, simple place. The open, south facing living room has a smart TV with an apple tv box so you can access your own media streaming accounts. The wifi router is in the living room so you can plug in directly if you plan to work remotely. The wifi service is 40 mpgs, which has worked well for our family to teach and learn virtually this year.

There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and one small bathroom.

The kitchen is older, but well equipped for cooking meals: plenty of pots and pans, serving dishes, even a crock pot so you can have hot food after your adventure. There is a standard drip coffee machine and a french press. There is no dishwasher.

Off the back of the house is a deck overlooking the backyard with views across to Larison Ridge. After your summer adventure, grill out on the deck and enjoy the fading light or relax in a hammock strung between big old oak trees. The garage below the house has a washer and dryer and is perfect for bike and gear storage.

Pets are allowed with prior consent from the owner and for an additional $35 pet fee. The back yard is fenced in and there are many easy dog walks from the house. Towels to wipe off muddy paws are provided.

Guest access
Your reservation gives you access to the entire house, garage, parking spots out front and a large back yard.

Other things to note
Oakridge is in the process of building tourist infrastructure; please be patient. Thank you for spending your hard earned dollars in Oakridge as it helps bolster the economy and allows local businesses to add to the services we all want & need to comfortably recreate in the region.
Current trail information can be found on Cog's Website. Look for the Trail Conditions page in the Oakridge menu dropdown (no link because of airbnb's interface).

Location

Oakridge, Oregon, United States

You might be visiting Oakridge because you are drawn to the world class recreation on the surrounding Willamette National Forest. The area has a rich logging history and Oakridge was once a booming mill town. The logging industry shut down in the 1990's and since then the town has been trying to form a new base industry and is slowly evolving into an outdoor recreation destination. Cog Wild's cottage is located in Uptown Oakridge, which was formerly the center of town and is now being revitalized. This is a working class neighborhood near Oakridge's schools and churches, the Ray's Supermarket and a variety of restaurants. The cottage is a short drive from all kinds of adventure on the Willamette National Forest and only a couple blocks from Cog's Oakridge Headquarters at First and Pine.

Lev and Kirin are mountain bikers who have been riding in Oakridge for nearly 20 years! Kirin loves the descent off Moon Point and Lev likes to suffer all day on remote trails out by Timpanogas Lake. We have a daughter in middle school (time flies) who also loves to ride single track, ski and snowboard. We named the place the "Let it Rain" house since it allows us to extend our riding season and get warm and dry when the weather sets in. Really, who wants to camp in the rain and ride in day old wet clothes?
