Nightly fireworks display from Disney and panoramic views towards Hong Kong Harbour.
Discovery Bay consists of a piazza with a strip of restaurants for alfresco dining, and the outdoor seating is very popular with most facing the promenade and overlooking the beach and Tai Pak Bay, or Disney in the horizon for nightly firework displays. Wi-Fi broadband connection is available free of charge at the eateries, along the beach and in the main plaza.
Buses here are frequent, and we have the 9S bus that goes directly to DB North large grocery store and to the clubhouse at Siena near the new Hotel.
The number 7 bus takes you to the main DB Plaza and bus terminus that has the airport bus take you to Cathay city.
If you are coming from the airport, then go to Terminal 2 where there is a 20-25 minute airport shuttle bus no. DB02R that takes you to Discovery Bay for HK$35 for a single trip.
You can also approach the information desk to obtain an Octopus card, that is a stored value card for public transport around HK.
From Tung Chung Citygate Bus Station to DB, hop onto DB01R for the 15-minute ride costing HK$10 one-way.
From Sunny Bay MTR Station to DB, catch DB03R for the 15-minute ride costing HK$10 one-way.
How to get to Disney:-
From Discovery Bay, you can catch the bus DB03R to Sunny Bay MTR Station, a 15-minute ride costing HK$10 one-way.
There will be a 'Mickey Mouse' train waiting at Sunny Bay MTR Station that takes another 5-10 minutes ride to the Disneyland entrance.
All buses are air-conditioned – a welcome perk especially during Hongkong’s sweltering summers – and run regularly at 20-minute intervals for DB01R and DB03R and every 30 minutes for the airport shuttle bus no. DB02R.

Annie's apartment was perfect. It was clean, tidy, comfortable, well equipped and close to shops and restaurants etc. It had lovely views of the water. Before our arrival Annie emailed important information about Discovery Bay such as attractions, transport etc. Annie was a generous Host providing us with milk, bread and fruit on arrival. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Annie's apartment. We would love to stay here again as we have family in Discovery Bay.

Annie's apartment is a good place with stunning sea view and good facilities for high quality life, the traffic is convenient, super market and 7-11, bus terminal and ferry are all available in plaza. It is good for a group less than 4 families .The only thing is the beds are too soft for us.
Thank you Wenwen for taking the time to include a very extensive detail on travelling, and especially to popular places like Disney & Ocean Park.
I'm happy the strollers were useful.
Yes, it is very 'cosy' to have 8 people sleep at the flat. The maximum I had was 11 people! LOL
With regard to the bed or mattress, we could change if we had time because I have 6 other flats with different types of mattresses.
It was not possible to know your preference of mattress types with your stay being so short, and checking in late around midnight would be difficult to move mattresses from another flat as this may disturb the neighbours.
But next time you stay please do let me know.
Also, the mattress comments are very useful to me as some clients want it softer, or firmer, so it is very similar to the western story of Goldilocks and the Three bears LOL.
Anyway, we will do our best to accommodate with mattress toppers, or they can be changed with sufficient notice.
Many thanks again for your comments.
Great stay! Apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Disco bay is a peaceful break from the more hectic aspects of Hong Kong but with very good access. Recommended!
My experience was better than I expected, the location was convenient and the view amazing. There was plenty of sleeping space and privacy.
Annie was very helpful in organising our trip, including providing lots of information on the area, transport options etc. She was also kind enough to let us check in early, due to our 15 hour flight from Toronto arriving at 5am! She also organised the limo service to pick us up from the airport at our request, but I would suggest just using the very efficient Discovery Bay buses (which is what Annie had suggested to us in the first place!)
The area: very Western. The area is very clean, some good but mainly Western restaurants. It is certainly a fairly expensive area to eat though. We mainly bought food (including some great pre-prepared meals) from the local grocery store and ate at the apartment.
The apartment: Well appointed, beds very comfortable. Kitchen was a little dirty. Unfortunately the typhoon that hit whilst were there revealed some issues with the window seal in 1 bedroom, and the air conditioning in another bedroom. Raymond (one of Annie's lovely care staff) kindly came and resolved the window seal issue late in the evening for us when called, but unfortunately the air conditioner issue couldn't be resolved, rendering the 3rd bedroom unable to be used for most of our stay. I believe we were the first to stay during a typhoon since the unit was refurbished, so I have no doubt the issue would now have been resolved.
Yes, catching the DB airport shuttle is much more efficient as the limo or VIP hire car does not pick you up from arrival halls, and you have to walk a distance to try find the car, and call them upon your arrival. Then you are charged HK$80 for every 15 minutes after the grace period of 30 minutes when you were due to be picked up.
With regard to the kitchen, Kirsty had an early check in and a guest was checking out at 5:30am that morning so there was only less than 2 hours to clean the flat. It normally takes 4 -6 hours to clean thoroughly, but the urgency for early check in did not allow time to complete the job.
Unfortunately, Kirsty arrived during a typhoon and though there were over 150 lightning strikes reported that night, my dedicated staff was able to fix the window seal and resolve the issues of the air-conditioner.
Kirsty only managed to stay 3 nights so the typhoon came when she arrived, and left on the day she departed so it was unfortunate that she and her family did not get to see more of HK or enjoy the facilities and environment of DB.
Annie's apartment is very nice. We love the beautiful seaview from the big apartment windows. The apartment itself is clean and equipped with anything we need to live comfortably. Annie is a generous host also. She gave us a basket of fruits, even bread, milk, and jam for staying 5 days in her apartment. We'd be happy to have a chance staying there again.

About the Host, Annie
I am Chinese & was brought up in the UK and born in Malaysia, but lived in Hong Kong for over 30 years now.
My childhood was spent mainly travelling around with my family of 5 siblings as my father was stationed at several British Army bases around Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong & the UK. Therefore, I enjoy travelling & meeting people of different cultures.
I have travelled to Europe & the States during my student days & most of my family members have now settled in the States & the UK.
I preferred to settle in HK as the place is as vibrant as the people who play hard, & work hard (website hidden) has a 'buzz' you cannot find anywhere else in the world.
It has been interesting living through the changes from the British colonial days to the handover back to China, & being part of 'history', & revealing of the versatility of the people here to the changing times to not just strive, but thrive in various aspects of their lives & (website hidden) brings out the best & worst in you... ^_^
