Top 10 Venice Island spots to eat and drink

Nestled along the coast in South Sarasota County, Venice Island has a bunch of attractions including an impressive population of dining and drinking destinations. Defined as the area north of Circus Bridge and south of KMI Bridge, west of the Intracoastal Waterway, the "island" includes historic downtown Venice as well as famed waterfront locations. Here, in alphabetical order, is our list of the Top 10 Venice Island spots to eat and drink.

Back Eddy Bistro
239 Miami Ave. W.
Chef Ed Glennon’s culinary philosophy is “start with fresh, end with delicious” at this intimate dining destination, which also has a bar along the back corridor adorned with 1960s psychedelic concert posters.

Blu’ Island Bistro
625 S. Tamiami Trail
Bistro excels at breakfast, lunch and, on Friday and Saturday nights, dinner dishes such as grouper, stuffed shrimp and blackened wild boar with a citrus-barbeque sauce.

Crow’s Nest
1968 Tarpon Center Drive, Venice
Overlooking its marina located just inside the Venice Inlet, this South County landmark is the ideal spot to enjoy tropical drinks and seafood while taking in the amazing waterfront vistas.

Daiquiri Deck
300 W. Venice Ave.
Like its sister locations on Siesta Key and St. Armands Circle, Daiquiri Deck’s is best known for its booze-filled slushies served until 2 a.m. daily — plus full menu and raw bar.

Gold Rush BBQ
661 Tamiami Trail South, Venice
Mining-themed restaurant serves up a striking selection of season rubbed and hickory smoked barbecue in an amusing setting.

Made In Italy
117 W. Venice Ave.
A destination for thin-crust pizza in a city filled with Italian restaurants and pizzerias, Made in Italy’s adjacent Aperitivo Bar is also a first-rate spot for martinis, craft cocktails and a memorable Bloody Mary given an Italian twist.

Marker 4 Restaurant
509 N. Tamiami Trail,
One of only a relative few waterfront restaurants on Venice Island, Marker 4 reemerged better than ever last year following an 18-month hiatus.

Old Salty Dog
1485 S. Tamiami Trail,
An offshoot of landmarks of the same name on Siesta Key and City Island, Old Salty Dog has been doing brisk sales of libations, its famed deep-fried hot dogs and other pub grub since opening along the Intracoastal Waterway by the Circus Bridge last April.

Sharky’s on the Pier and Fins
1600 S. Harbor Drive,
The most famous dining and drinking destination in South County, Sharky’s has a tiki bar and dining area at the entrance of the Venice Fishing Pier with a fancier menu and setting upstairs at Fins.

The Soda Fountain
349 W. Venice Ave.
An adorable recreation of the soda fountains that flourished in drugstores from the 1920s to ‘60s, this one offers a winning selection of sodas, ice creams, sandwiches, beers and pizza by Vinnie’s Pizzeria.

Loving the beaches and the sun - there is no better place to relax and enjoy than here at Manasota Key. Love to play tennis and every kind of sport like a run in the morning along the Manasota Key or a swift bike ride to the Stump Pass state park. Living in Florida is living in paradise.
