5th Heaven: Quartier Latin Studio

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Rue du Cardinal Lemoine, Paris, Île-de-France 75005, France

The Space

Welcome to a little piece of heaven in the very heart of Paris.

After 8 years living in the city of light, my husband Matteo and I found our dream home in the Parisian 5th arrondissement, within a late-19th-century haussmanian building in perfect state. We are renting a typical Parisian studio, or "Chambre de bonne", just above our appartment but with total independence.

While being at walking distance of many of the main Parisian landmarks (Notre Dame, Le Marais, Panthéon, Luxembourg Gardens, Hotel de Ville...) the studio is placed in the area of the Latin Quarter where Parisians live.

We are absolutely in love with our neighbourhood and if on top of your sightseeing, you are looking for a true local experience we will love to help you discover its delights: The local baker where you can buy warm bread all day, the artisan cheese shops, Jean's wine cave, tons of nice non-touristy restaurants with great food, one of the oldest local markets at Place Maubert three times per week, and much much more!

The studio is cozy and functional, it can comfortably host up to two guests, with a real bed that can become a double. It is located a the 6th floor of the building (no lift but after the stairs you can have that extra croissant!!). You have your own toilet and shower, with an aditional external toilet only used by another studio tenant. You have a new (and super silent) fridge, and a microwave. And of course free wifi. We live in the flat on the 5th floor so if you need anything or some advice we'll be glad to help!

For stays over one week, the price includes one cleaning per week with a change of fresh sheets and towels. If you wished to have more frequent cleaning it is possible, it will cost 15 euro per service.

Regarding check-in and check-out, official hours are after 6pm and before 12.00pm, though if our agendas and other guest's bookings allow it, we are always happy to discuss luggage drop-off or more adapted hours so you can make the most of your stay!

The sudio is connected directly by RER (parisian long-distance metro) with both Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports, and close to various metro lines, tons of buses and various velib stations (Paris bike renting sistem, you can get tickets even daily we'll explain this if you are interested).

We care a lot about our little studio so as you'll understand, we only accept bookings by guests with a complete profile and picture.

If you are interested in staying over or need more information get in touch and we will confirm with you the availability of our place!

Every visit to Paris is magic and we hope our 5th Heaven will make it also unforgettable!

  • Cristina was a very kind and responsive host. She answered every email and question I had and gave very specific, clear instructions on how to access the flat. She couldn't have been friendlier.

The biggest positive attribute of the apartment is its location. It's fantastic for accessing the major tourist attractions of Paris: Notre Dame, Quartier Latin, le Marais, Centre Pompidou, Jardin du Luxembourg, etc. It's easily accessible by a number of different metro stations and has several different markets, restaurants, and bars close by. It's not a "hip" neighborhood like Canal St. Martin, but it was certainly central and pleasant.

The apartment itself is quite small, and with two people the size was a bit of a drawback. When the bed is folded out to a double, it is difficult to access the bathroom because the bathroom door hits the bed. The bathroom itself is rather tiny and required some acrobatics to fit through the low door. Likewise, there's not a great deal of privacy in the bathroom or anywhere given the space, so consider that when booking. The flat is also on the 6th (American 7th) floor, and there was no working elevator when we stayed, so that is worth considering if you have physical limitations.

I would recommend it to a single person certainly, but I think it gets a little cramped for two on a stay longer than a few days. Again, Cristina was extremely kind and made the experience pleasant with her advice and friendly demeanor.

  • Staying at Cristina and Matteo's place was a pleasure – the studio is comfortable, very clean and equipped with all we needed during our Paris visit. The Île de la Cité is in walking distance, yet the studio is kind of off the tourist track. After long days of visiting museums and strolling around Paris, we enjoyed relaxing in the studio and looking over the classic parisian rooftops. Cristina and Matteo are very likeable persons and welcomed us warmly. Communication with them before and during our stay was uncomplicated and we really enjoyed to chat with them.

  • The apartment is pretty small, but very cosy and clean. Cristina and Matteo were very friendly and recommended a lot of restaurants in the neighbourhood:
Don't miss the 5e Cru in rue du Cardinal Lemoine - great wine and food, nice owner!

  • We had such a wunderful time Christinas and Matteos little appartment! Everything was perfect! Even if we arrive at "5th heaven" out off the check-in hours they made an early (website hidden) possible. The room was clean and cosy and we found everything we need. Christina recommended us some real good restaurants and a bakery where we bought our croissants every morning. Also supermarkets are near by.
We definitly recommend it for people who want to stay in nice non-touristic area but still near to all the places of interest in Paris.

    Merci beaucoup Christina et Matteo

  • Very sweet studio in the Quartier Latin, perfect position if one wants to visit the heart of Paris. Very clean, and since it's on the top floor, the sounds from the street can hardly be heard at all. Cosy as it is, it's quite small, so if you don't know the person you want to share it with all too well yet, you will at the end of your sojourn. Cristina and her husband are wonderful, friendly, helpful hosts.

  • The 5th Heaven studio is great! The room is not huge but very cozy, clean and warm enough to take a rest for two people. Also Cristina and her husband Matteo are so nice and kind. The neighborhood of this studio is perfect. There are many nice restaurants, cute shops and tube stations including RER B, C and many tube lines.

  • This apartment was absolutely perfect. Small to be sure (no surprise at all), but it's tiny size is more than made up for by it's perfect location. Cristina is a wonderful hostess, gave us so many tips on great restaurants and bakeries in the area. Plus she's really easy to communicate with and very direct, you don't need to worry about dancing around a question or problem with her, she's awesome. Every day we think about coming back here. Thanks for the great place to stay!

  • We stayed at 5th Heaven for 4 days in February 2014 and it truly was every bit as perfect as the earlier reviews had led us to believe. It's small - don't expect anything larger than what you can see in the pictures! - but has everything you need, as well as an unbeatable location. The view over the Latin Quarter rooftops while you drink your morning coffee is lovely - and even the climb up to the studio will soon be less arduous, with a lift being installed while we were staying. Cristina and Matteo live just downstairs, and are generous with their time and energy as hosts, offering the perfect balance of privacy and sociability.

If you want somewhere simple, fresh, and friendly, within 5 minutes walk of all the major sights, this is the ideal place.

About
My name is Cristina, I grew up in sunny Madrid, Spain and have been living in Paris for the last 9 years. I've also spent short periods of time living in Italy and California. I'm in a loving and comitted relationship with a wonderful italian man, whom I adore and want to grow old with. I am a designer, this means that my work is to discover and think about how people live, who they are and what they need, and to create new products and services that will delight them, and have a positive impact in their lives. I love drawing, crafts, cooking, reading in a lazy sunday afternoon just to relax and spending time with the lovely people in my life doing anything that seems fun. I am an incurable optimist, and you'll see me smiling more often than not. I highly value honesty, respect, tolerance and courage. I enjoy being with people and am very sociable (I speak fluent English, Spanish, Italian and French which helps when travelling) though I also relish and understand the need for moments of quietness and solitute. When I travel I avoid doing crazy kodak-moment tourism. I'd rather see less cities or monuments and try to stay enough time in one place, so I can get a feel of it and what it has to offer and how people live there. I'm currently renovating a little studio on top of my apartment and planning to can become an Airbnb host, so I' thought it may be fun to try the service as a guest aswell, and fully join the comunity!
