ABOUT THE LOCATION:
Rich with local history, culture and sophistication, Potts Point is an ideal place to stay or visit. Situated within Sydney City, just a short 20-minute walk to the CBD and a stone's throw from Kings Cross Railway Station, so you can easily catch a train to some of Sydney's beaches major attractions. Sydney Buses, taxis and Car Share / Hire are also readily available in the immediate vicinity.
☺ PERSONAL SAFETY?
We live in the area with our six-year-old daughter, as does many young families these days. Macleay Street has gentrified over the last 10 years, and Potts Point is one of the most on-trend and affluent areas of Sydney. The area is highly populated and using simple common sense it's easy to stay safe.
CAR SHARE IS AVAILABLE!
Forget normal car rentals. Highly recommended and right outside the front door are two "GoGet" car-share "pods" and there are more than 20 GoGet cars within a two-minute walk. No need to worry about parking when you get back to the apartment if you sign up for these share cars - parking is free! Foreign licences are accepted, we will give you the address for the information pack and activation card. You should register before you leave home. Search for GoGet Car Share Sydney. Look for the FAQ's.

Dozens of restaurants, cafes and bars are on your doorstep. There's plenty happening in the area, and some of Sydney's best restaurants are a short walk (Otto - at the Finger Wharf, or Macleay Street Bistro, down the road, just two examples). One of Sydney's best new cafes (Room 10 - Voted in SMH Good Cafe Guide) is 10m from your door, and there are loads of great places to eat and drink nearby.
Wilbur’s Place (100m) and Bourke Street Bakery (200m) are just around the corner. You’re also just a short walk to the Italian hub of Stanley street; a 20 min walk into the city, via the Domain and Hyde Park; a 20 minute walk (or less) to trendy Surry Hills. I’ll leave you a list of my favourite eating spots on check (website hidden) IN?
The apartment is 100 metres from the excellent Harris Farm supermarket (or there's an even bigger supermarket within 200metres); and there's a Farmers’ Market every Saturday only 80m walk away. I'll also leave the kitchen all set up with oil, vinegar, etc. so you can just focus on the main ingredients.
There's even a high-end caterer - "Sides & Main" - on your street, selling gourmet meals from their shop-front, so if you are too lazy to cook but want to eat in. Too easy.
Everyone knows neighbouring Kings Cross is famous for nightlife, but you may NOT know that its areas (Potts Point, Darlinghurst, Woollomoolloo and East Sydney) include some of Sydney's best areas to eat and drink in, all within a 5 minute walk. There are lots of hip small bars in the area - including on fabulous Llankelly Place, just near your building.
You can also walk 10 minutes to Oxford Street clubs, or just 20 minutes into the centre of Sydney (Rocks, Circular Quay, etc.). I'll give you plenty of tips on arrival.
If you like your nightlife more serene Govindas lounge cinema is about 5 minutes up the road, the Old Fitzroy Pub (so much character!) has a cheap theatre attached, and a great vibe. There are also numerous other local theatres and cinemas within walking distance. (I’ll leave you a few suggestions for all of this on check in).
Walk to Hyde Park or the Botanic Gardens; the Opera House (probably 30 minutes, via Hyde Park and the Botanic Gardens); or short bus/train to Bondi Beach or other eastern suburbs beaches. Potts Point is in Sydney’s centre, but has easy access to beaches, the famous Bondi-Bronte walk, and Sydney harbour (I’ll leave you tips with my favourite picnic spots and nearby walks).
Walk into the city, so easy! Potts Point is walking distance to George Street and the main centre of Sydney. The apartment is also about 15 minutes walk UNSW’s College of Fine Arts on Oxford Street, a quick bus to UNSW, easy commute to University of Sydney. The apartment is 10 minute walk to St Vincents’ Hospital. There's unlimited wireless internet in the apartment so getting online is no problem.
GYM'S, YOGA & PILATES?
The apartment is located on the same street as P.E. Dept Gym and Fitness First is 5 minutes away. There are also a few boutique Yoga and Pilates classes in the local area. Just tell us what you want to do and we will advise you on some of the options.
The Potts Point apartment is up one level of stairs. No problem for most people but just letting you know...
Washing machine and dryer is on the top level in building (coin operated).
Yes, there is a hairdryer!
A iMac computer with ADSL2 and WiFi internet is provided of course!
Also free local calls available on the land-line telephone.
If you require extra bedding for the sofa bed and you are not paying for a third guest, there is a one-time $20 surcharge for the additional laundry charges we incur. One-time and not per night. We ask guests to leave $20 on the table for our cleaners who manages the laundry services.
The extra bedding set for the 3rd guest comprises of 1 x flat sheet + 1 x fitted sheet + 1 duvet cover + 1 x duvet + 2 x pillow covers and pillows. There are also a couple of soft blankets to put under and and over the bedding for extra comfort.
The location is superb, but the Kings Cross area IS busy on a Friday/Saturday night. This is an action-packed part of town; one reason it's great to stay here. While the apartment itself is quiet, you may hear the neighbours occasionally, you will likely hear some noise from the street at night on the weekends. I think the location is totally worth it, but forewarned is forearmed, so they say!
Cars - Parking is available nearby but is a hassle, and it's expensive. Car rental locations are close by and GoGet car-share is easy and available close by. Locals walk everywhere or use the buses and trains
The location is so central this is easy. If you have a car I'll give you tips on where to park long term, and it's less than 5 minutes walk away. Kings Cross train station is only 300m walk away from the apartment.
- Please be respectful of other residents in the building and keep the noise down after about 10pm.
- If there are any problems during your stay, just let me know. Either way, we'll do our best to sort things out.
- Absolutely no smoking, including hanging outside the window! This is important and ignoring this rule will affect your security deposit.
- We really appreciate it if you can leave the place reasonably clean on your departure. My cleaner does a great job, but it's much nicer for if you guys leave your dishes done etc. so she can just focus on cleaning and restocking things like tea and coffee for the next guest :)
- As already stated in the notes and house rules, if you require extra bedding for the sofa bed and you are not paying for a third guest, there is a one-time $20 surcharge for the additional laundry charges we incur. One-time and not per night. We ask guests to leave $20 on the table for our cleaners who manages the laundry services.
- A lost key fee will be deducted from the deposit at $120 for each set. This is our actual cost, as the security key alone is $100 to replace via the building Management.
- If you require check-in after 5:30pm, you may need to do a 'self-check-in'. Its easy and fully documented for you - ask if you needed it. We will try be there, but we have a young family too.
- Now relax, enough boring details - get out of the rules and back to the fun part of planning your holiday!
We had a lovely stay and Charlotte was very helpful. Self checkin was easy. Apartment was perfect. There were some works going on in apartment below which was very noisy durng the day but we were out most of the time so not an issue and my son did take a nap through the hammering so obviously he was not too worried. We enjoyed location. Walked to Sydney harbour via botanical gardens and train station was 5 mins walk and very simple to find. Easy to catch train to airport as well. Apartment was set up perfectly for visitors which is there intent....you don't feel like your invading someone's personal space. Great value. Linen and mattress was very very comfortable.
The apartment was very central, it was neat and comfortable. Charlotte was helpful and we enjoyed our stay here.
Lovely apartment in a great spot. The computer and Internet was very handy and Hosts accommodating and helpful.
We had a wonderful stay in Charlottes place. The bed was super comfortable, big and soft for the both of us. The unlimited wifi was super helpful, as we were on a work trip. The layout of the apartment is great as gives a feeling of space. And everything was there we needed that would be in our own home. It's in an ideal location if you need to be near transport, shops, amenities. Only 20 minutes walk to the city and a lovely walk too! Drop in to the Sydney Art Gallery in the way,
We had an enjoyable experience staying at Charlottes Potts Point apartment.
The unit was exactly as photographed. Everything we needed was in the unit.
Charolette and Chris were very helpful and they were good communicators. They made check in extremely easy and were very supportive.
The unit is close to the Kings Cross subway station, a nice market, cafe's and great restaurants. It was easy for my wife and me to use this as our central base of operations as we covered Sydney and some surrounding areas.
We would definitely recommend Charlotte, Chris and their unit.
Charlotte and Chris's place is lovely! Very organized even with a little local guide they put together. Great location that is literally upstairs from Room 10 (a fantastic café with brilliant coffee, food and queuing hipsters).

About the Host, Charlotte
Cured meats and pick platters perfect for an in between snack over a few drinks or a Saturday afternoon starter. I would recommend it only for couples or groups of 2-3.
Cafe dov - on corner of Orwell and Victoria Street. Outdoor area or nice interior. Quite nice aspect on Victoria st. Breakfast till 3pm. Good for quiet glass of wine.
Fresh fruits, vegetables and sea food. I would say that its the best of the supermarkets.
This is a funky modern Asian restaurant. No bookings though, so get there early and try one of their delicious cocktails.
This place is just downstairs and can be a little hit and miss. But you can sit and watch the world go by and play it by ear.
One of the best coffees in the area and they do a great avocado toast
I love their pork crackling roll! It is also a wine bar after hours
Good Malaysian food. Chicken curry is recommended
Friendly, good looking barman and fusion asian food!
Good fast food. They do a great Aussie Burger and they have another outlet in Liverpool Street.
Reasonable Pizza's and Roman Style
Great restaurant set up, great vibe and clearly the place to be seen. Service pretty good.
Wagyu beef and soft shell crab! Yum!
Drinks and pizzas
Huge schnitzels and okay value for money.
Bourke Street Bakery makes everything by hand with the best possible ingredients, from organic sourdoughs to pastries and cakes.
Great atmosphere restaurant and there is a great bar to have a few drinks before eating.
Cheap, fast and good food. Mexican fast food that is great value. Good and authentic Mexican food is hard to find in Sydney.
Fresh amazing produce
I love a late afternoon pimms and lemonade in this rustic wine garden
I often go there for breakfast and coffee. I also love the Tuna Melt!
Great for pizzas and a few drinks. Very hip.
Big Super Market - pretty much the same as Coles.
Big Super Market - Pretty much the same as Woolworths.
We had a great meal and highlight was the duck and also the pork buns.
Great food and a terrific vibe to be had here. Highly recommended.
Very relaxed atmosphere for lunch or dinner. Well priced dishes, yummy wage beef curries and to tonkotsu noodles. $5 tapas every Monday is always a winner!!!! One of my favourite places to eat!
A great cafe for a coffee in the glorious morning sun
Consistently good food. Egg Yolk Ravioli & Fish Pie are still my firm favourites. Though the menu is short, it has quite a variety of styles and everything is good.
This cafe is an institution. It has been in the area for ages, and although the dark burgundy and wood decor looks like it has not been changed in that same period, it’s part of its charm.
The thing we love about fratelli is they stay true to Italian cuisine and yet make it interesting and unpredictable.
The Fish Shop is a great little place for a casual meal if you feel like fresh seafood cooked to perfection.
Recommended coffee for a whole in the wall.
Potts Point Bookshop is a small independent bookshop based in Sydney, Australia.
Fun casual bar that I frequent. I also love the sliders and truffle fries!!!
Open from 5am - 11pm every day . An easy place for no fuss salads, sandwiches and pasta.
Great burgers and recommended. $11 to 13 and good value for Sydney Burgers.
Love the truffle vegetarian pizza and I am normally not vegetarian!
Among the glut of cafes on this end of Victoria Street, Bar Coluzzi is the oldest and the busiest. It is not actually a bar for alcohol.
I love this cafe and its a great stop over if your walk to or from the city. It also has a very loyal following.
150 Bourke Street, Darlinghurst (phone number hidden)988 (phone number hidden) 11am- 9.30pm daily for lunch and dinner and snacks in between. About 5 mins walk. Vietnamese dumplings and noodles.
I am normally not a huge cheese fan, but i am completely addicted to the italian cheeses and the side dishes....
This is a hidden gem of this area. Great coffee and tuna salads
The Victoria Room restaurant and bar is richly decorated in British-Raj style. Enjoy High Tea, comprising a traditional selection of sandwiches, cakes and the finest tea and a bar in the after-hours.
Best Gelato in Australia. I also love to go there sit outside and people watch!
The grilled meats are yummy, but the shoe string fries are even better than The Passage
Some of the best / honest fresh fish in the area. Highly recommended by foodies.
Great restaurant food, good service. Try the 'Slow cooked lamb shoulder' with a glass of red. Some of the best Italian in Sydney.
Fantastic wine list! Finger food is very good too. Not a budget wine bar.
Excellent contemporary asia food and atmosphere. Phamish is a reliable place to grab a bottle of BYO and get a fresh, fast fill of great Vietnamese food.
A great modern Chinese restaurant that is will known. If you get there before 6pm you can walk in without a booking.
One of the very best in Sydney.
Some of the best coffee in Sydney and try the "Reuben" sandwich filled with slow cooked meat, Great place. Pulled pork taco + salted caramel shake are good too.
Mexican that I have heard is good.
