Stay in the Heart of NYC. Just a 15 minute walk to Times Square, you'll be staying in one of the hippest neighborhoods in Manhattan --- Hell's Kitchen!

The space
Your Fully Private Room has a comfortable queen size loft bed with a Tuft & Needle mattress. It also includes:

* 40” Flat Panel LED HDTV
Amazon Fire TV Stick w/Alexa Voice Remote (with Netflix & Amazon Prime Video)
* WiFi (200 Mbps)
* Apple iPad which you can use & take with you around the city (BY REQUEST ONLY)
* Mini-Fridge
* Air Conditioning / Heat
* Freshly cleaned sheets, pillows, blankets, bath towels & washcloths
* NYC Guidebooks, Maps and a Native New Yorker's knowledge of cool local 'off-the-beaten-path' stuff to do
** Rotating DISCO BALL & Light!!

Most of my visitors are couples, family or good friends who don't mind sharing the bed together. However, I do have a twin-size air mattress available which is very comfortable (BY REQUEST ONLY).

The room is clean, quiet, and dark at night. I say this because living in NYC that's often difficult to find with all the street noise, noisy neighbors, and bright lights blaring in one's windows. Not the case at my place. You'll sleep very well.

For a small fee I rent my bicycles (all 6 of them). Cheaper than renting at any bike shop, you can ride them all day/night too. I also lead easy, safe, and fun 2-3 hour Night Bicycling Tours of Central Park with Nightrider NYC, as well as other short tours too, by bike, foot and/or subway. I bicycle toured/camped across the USA twice and rode across Europe in '87, before cell phones and the internet made us all lazy. Let me know what your interests are and maybe I can put something together for you.

I LOVE hosting & meeting new people & if I have the time I'll show you around my neighborhood - just ask. I've had some really fun experiences with my former guests.

You'll have some closet space w/hangars & a drawer in my dresser for your clothing, as well as a empty drawer in the WC for your toiletries. I have many shampoos, conditioners & other assorted toiletries which you are welcome to use as well as laundry detergent (there's a Laundromat right next to my building).

I'm on the top 5th floor of a 5-story brownstone walk-up. **THERE IS NO ELEVATOR**

My kitchen/living room is available for your use, except for the late evening when I'll be home. In addition to a 4-burner gas stove-top, oven and broiler, I have a rice cooker, George Foreman grill, toaster oven, blender, and most other kitchen appliances you'd find in a fully stocked kitchen. Just please clean up after yourselves!

I provide clean sheets, blankets, pillows & towels and have other assorted toiletries that you can use, including an iron & hairdryer. My place is clean - no bedbugs here!

**I'M A NON-SMOKER & DON'T ALLOW SMOKING IN MY APARTMENT OR ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE BUILDING**

My check-in time is flexible, starting at 12:30pm going until whenever you need to arrive. On a case-by-case basis I might be able to allow an earlier check-in time. Check-out is noon, but, again, on a case-by-case basis I might be able to allow a later check-out time.

I'm a big BROADWAY buff. I see nearly every show that comes to NY. This could be a Very Expensive Hobby, but as I'm a New Yorker who comes from a theater background I have connections and can 'sometimes' get tickets MUCH CHEAPER than anywhere else. If you wanna see a show during your visit (and I wholeheartedly recommend you do so), let me know and I'll try and work my magic for you!

As for me, I'll be sleeping in the living room on the Murphy Wall Bed (see my photos for more into)

Got stinky undies? Well, wash 'em then! I have detergent & fabric softener you can use. A cheap & reliable Coin-Operated Laundromat is right next to my building. You can do it yourself or just drop it off to have it washed (usually done the same day/pay by the pound - or kilo for you krazy Europeans.

Thanks for checking my place out. If you have any questions let me know!

Guest access
NOTHING is off-limits at my flat -- My place is Your Place! You can use my kitchen, just not at 3am! (you know, during Reasonable hours). You're welcome to use and relax in my front room, unless I'm there working or sleeping.

Other things to note
Although Hell's Kitchen has a pretty sordid history, it's now one of the hippest neighborhoods in Madhattan! Full of great bars and diverse restaurants that stay open late, just a 15 minute walk to the Theatre District and Times Square, it's a safe, centrally located area where you'll find a lot to do and see for the entire family.

A bit about me:

I'm a Handyman/Writer/Actor/Bicycle Tour Guide and Amateur USBC Bowler trying to survive in the Concrete Jungle we call the Big Apple. I've been surviving here since 1984, so I must be doing something right!

Bursting with energy and devilish charisma, Hell's Kitchen continues to evolve as high-rises move in and crooked characters move out. This classic New York City neighborhood is near it all—theaters on Broadway, green lawns in Central Park, and revered mom-and-pop culinary mainstays. As a storied NYC haunt, Hell's Kitchen lives up to its unmistakable mystique.

No visit to the neighborhood is complete without a visit to RUDY's Bar (9th Ave & 45th St) where you MUST order a blonde (or red head if you like them), and eat a few pigs. Just trust me on this... If you wanna nicer place to hang-out at, I recommend the PONY (10th Ave & 45th St). They have the best fried pickles in the city, and some Great selections of Craft beer, some of which are as high as 12% ABV!!

Want some more ideas for restaurants, bars, clubs, and other fun places to visit in the hood? Just ask me!!

Hi! I'm an extroverted Native New Yorker with a deep appreciation for the arts who likes meeting interesting new people, so of course I love Airbnb!! I truly love living in this multi-cultured and ever changing metropolis. My girlfriend and I are experienced travelers, always looking for new adventures. 3 years ago we finally made it to Alaska. We spent a month backpacking around the country (no, you can't just call it a state). A high point was trekking through Denali and getting caught in the first snowstorm of the season. Quite a story there. I'm a big thrifter and know how to live cheaply in this overly expensive city. Wanna see a Broadway show? Let me know as I might be able to get you cheap tickets. I can also tell you about lots of other ways to see and do things inexpensively in this crazy town. WELCOME TO NYC!

During your stay
During your stay you can be as private as you want, or come and socialize a bit with me. I like to show my guests around my neighborhood and, if they like, go out for a drink or two. I'm also an avid cyclist, and could possibly take you on a tour of Central Park (I have 6 bikes in the basement we can use). I'll be sleeping in the front room most nights and in-and-out during the day. If you want some ideas & suggestions on off-the-beaten-track stuff that us NYC locals do, just ask!!
