Hornby Island is an island paradise, best know for its beautiful beaches, the boundless recreation opportunities and the old artistic and carefree hippie culture that still pervades the island.
Our cabin across the road from the waterfront side of our property with our virtually private beach, captures much of this essence!

Other things to note
Hornby Island is a creative hub. The island houses world class musicians, artists, architects, scientists, authors, medical practitioners, builders, entrepreneurs and many others who keep the island afloat in new and creative thought.

And, oh, did I forget to say that Hornby is also the perfect place to just enjoy some of the best beaches on the West Coast as well as some of the best mountain biking trails on the West Coast.

There is something here for everyone.

With respect to our cabin, we send access instructions prior to someone's stay. Also based on past guest comments, please note that our cabin like many Hornby properties is fed by a fresh water well (the alternative is a rain water collection) and the water often has both a sulfur smell and taste. Individuals with "sensitive" taste buds may wish to bring drinking water or buy it at the local co-op.

Also please note that our waterfront access is "high bank" and a series of stairs lead down to our beach deck and the beach.

Neighborhood highlights

The west side of Hornby Island is characterized by the exceptional westerly views and the long evenings with beautiful sunsets. There are many artists in the neighborhood including the exceptional artist couple Vaughn Neville and Susan Cain ((URL HIDDEN) & (URL HIDDEN) as well as Jeffrey Rubinoff whose sculptures are displayed in one of Canada's largest sculpture parks ((URL HIDDEN)

The neighbourhood also boasts Hornby's famous Thatch Pub, access to a number of hiking trails and secluded beaches and a number of other hidden "gems" that will need to be discovered.

Hornby has become a sanctuary for our family and is loved by young and old alike.
