A true nature adventure! Edmundo`s place is t h e "One Of A Kind" in so many ways: Epic sunsets, soothing caribbean water, a green garden full of beautiful trees, herbs and flowers, spacious outdoor seating areas, and a Sonos sound system, which makes the grand property even more grand. We truly felt we were "at home" and in paradise at the same time from the second we got there.
On top of this, Edmundo takes hosting to a new level - he made our trip to a very pleasant and a really unforgettable breeze. During our 11 days stay, sharing his tips for tours, touching base to check if we were all fine - and he even gave us loads of tips of what to see and where to eat for our two final days in Santo Domingo - ever memorable as well.
Edmundo has got the nicest staff to take care of the property and the guests: Euri, Hilda and Papo were all so calm, warm and welcoming. We only know a few spanish words, despite this we communicated quite well with them, and it was really sad to say good bye after our stay. We have never ever had a trip to a foreign country this authentic, and we are forever grateful for how Edmundo, Euri, Hilda and Papo made it so.
Yes, this was our honeymoon, and it could not have been better for us and our kids aged 3 and 15.
Thank you so much! We`ll be back.
Edmundo made our first trip to the Dominican Republic an incredibly fulfilling experience. Yuri was the most patient, gracious host we could have possibly imagined and Hilda cooked some delicious authentic Dominican cuisine for us every day. We highly recommend taking Edmundo's advice on the Jaragua National Park day trip! Will definitely be back for a honeymoon someday!
The pictures and comments that everyone has made are exactly accurate. The feel of the entire home was the most relaxing and peaceful place I have been to during a vacation-- every detail of the property, and the service provided gave the perfect serene environment.
What can we say that others haven't already said? We specifically did not want a big resort experience for this vacation. We wanted a quiet but beautiful place to slow things down, relax and re-invigorate our family in the middle of a crazy New England winter.
We got exactly that from Edmundo's wonderful home. A private oasis but with three fantastic assistants. You've read all the kudos about Hilda (silent "h" please when you say her name!), Euri and Papo but I'll just add that after a week with them we all hugged goodbye.
Euri drove us to the airport at 3 in the morning and had only smiles and kind words.
Hilda gave us wonderful meals and tips on foods to buy at the store that we would not have thought of.
Papo worked around the clock keeping the pool clean, the leaves raked but also it was great to know that he lived on the property in case we had any problems at an off time of the night.
Edmundo was always available via WhatsApp, checking in on us and when we missed our connection from JFK to SDQ (thanks, frozen Boston airport!) and got there a day late, he offered to refund a night's stay...see if your all inclusive resort ever does THAT!
Mostly we relaxed on the property but we did do the worthwhile day trip to la Bahia de las Aguilas. Not only is the beach beautiful, but the ride there is very picturesque. Look for the iguanas towards the end of the drive. On our day there we say a whale, lots of fish and bought excellent lobsters from a fisherman who had just caught them...and of course, Hilda cooked them up in garlic. Better than our Boston lobsters!
No one wanted to leave but sadly we had to. This was our first trip to the Dominican Republic and if we return we'll book Hacienda Los Guayacanes again!
Thanks again, Edmundo, Euri, Hilda, Papo and Carlos (our driver from the airport when we arrived).
We are a family of four, two boys of 12 and 15 years. We wanted to get away from cold Connecticut and were looking at resorts in Carribean Islands. It just wasn’t inspiring at all. We have never used Airbnb before and decided to give it try. We def. didn’t regret that.
We were attracted to the beautiful pictures of Hacienda Los Guayanes and the very positive reviews. The place didn’t disappoint us. The description and pictures show exactly what you get.
The owner, Edmundo, is a perfect host. He’s always accessable and replies immediately. It’s important to him, that his guests feel comfortable and enjoy their stay at his home. It’s clear that he is primarily in this “business” to promote his country, which he loves. Visiting Edmundo felt like visiting a relative.
Pros: Wonderful property, beautifully decorated with much personality. Most important to us was the 20,000 sq meter beautiful lawn, as there are 3 soccer mad males in our family. The place was perfect for that, and Edmundo was so kind to have a goal made for us. I really enjoyed reading and watching the sea from our private beach. No shouting people, no jet skies, no music, just the waves and the birds. It’s def. a plus that the place is staffed with kind and service minded people. We did especially appreciate the drivers Carlos and Euri.
Cons: This paradise is far away from everything. We couldn’t be bothered to drive for so many hours, which meant that we have never seen so little of a country.
On Edmundo’s recommendation we did, however, go to Bahia de las Aguilas. We left at 7am and was back almost 13 hours later. It was indeed a very long trip, but it was worth it. Not so much because of the beach, but the drive took us through many villages, the mountains, the coastline and gave us a good picture of the Southwest of DR. The final part of the trip to the beach was by boat, which was great and our sons had fun fishing.
To conclude we had a wonderful relaxing vacation in this little paradise, it was a unique experience, which we will never forget.
We just returned from an eleven night stay at Los Guayacanes and let us just say what a special oasis it is! We traveled with our two young boys and were content to stay at the property and enjoy the many lovely spots. Morning at the tennis court, beach and peer and afternoons at the pool and Terrace relaxing and reading! Having Hilda cook you breakfast lunch and prep dinner was an unbelievably wonderful experience. She made us feel so well taken care of and relaxed. Our kids adored her. We really enjoyed her cooking as well. We wish we spoke more Spanish, which would have allowed for easier commication. But we did use the google translate app which helped a lot. And it was fun to push ourselves out of our comfort zone. So be prepared that their English is very limited. Don't let this stop you though we all worked together to communicate.
Amazing care has been put into the landscape. Papo is meticulous and amazingly hard-working always with a smile on his face. All the plants and lush grass are gorgeous. There's just so many nice details around the entire property we just kept marveling at how pretty it was the entire time!
We loved the proximity to the beach and the beautiful breeze. Nice new towels. And the sun shelter was great for the kids. The beach is so private we only saw two or three people in our entire trip. We loved that it's west facing also so that you could see beautiful sunsets every night. Definitely bring water shoes as its rocky. We didn't take out the sailboat but enjoyed the kayaks a lot.
The house is very comfortable, but a little bit dated. We did have a little bit of trouble using things like the satellite tv, the hot water in the showers, the sliding doors and air conditioner in the master bedroom, but we have to remember that we were in a whole other world. Not a big complaint but just don't expect things like tennis rackets and snorkels to be new. Also make sure to bring some bug spray. There were no mosquitoes at the beach but definitely they linger in the house. We speculate that they enjoy the water from the hydration system. We barely got any bites but but our kids definitely did.
Edmundo has made sure that you will feel completely safe and cared for from the moment you book. Sending you all the information, grocery and menu ideas and answering all your questions quickly. He even helped us acquire a high chair.Carlos meeting you at the airport and bringing you grocery shopping to Yuri running out to get beers. Such a very unique experience! We are going to miss this place and the staff a lot!
I am very natured oriented, hence why i own Hacienda Guayacanes.
I love the ocean, stars, clear sunny days, wind and cruising Ocoa bay early in the morning.
I am very sensuous and detail oriented. I like subtlety with comfort.
