Neighborhood highlights

7 minute drive to downtown South Bend.
10 minute drive to Mishawaka shopping and restaurant district.
15 minute drive from South Bend airport.
12 minute drive to Michigan state line.
Close to both major hospitals.

Did we mention before that Notre Dame is a 3 minute drive from the house? Wow! Super close, yet not in the area south of campus that can become quite crowded and rowdy during football games. Walking takes around a half hour/40 mins to get from the house to the stadium, and the walk will take you through the beautiful campus, by the lake, and past the Grotto.

In the direct vicinity (walking distance) of the house are restaurants, gas stations, bar, coffee shop, and a park with a playground. Within a mile of the house are more restaurants, a Kinko’s for any shipping and work-from-home needs, and within 2 miles, a Walgreens. Martin’s Supermarket (local grocery store) is a 6 minute drive, and WalMart and Meijer are a 7 minute drive.

St. Mary's College is even a shorter drive! St. Mary's is a straight shot down 933 (the main road our road is off of). Holy Cross College is right next door to St. Mary's.

Continuing south down 933, you will get to downtown South Bend in about 5 minutes! There are many great local restaurants and bars downtown. Ask us for recommendations. The East Race waterway is downtown, and you can even rent kayaks/rafts to go down the professional course. The Riverlights are a nice sight in the evening.

The indoor South Bend Farmer's Market is about 15 mins from the house, and is a must-do if you enjoy fresh produce, meats, and homemade goods. Right down the street from the Farmer's Market is the Potawatomi Zoo, Greenhouse, and Kid's Kingdom. The Four Winds Casino is about 20 mins from the house.

Going north on 933 you will come to the Michigan State Line and the town of Niles in about 10 minutes.

Need to do some shopping while you are here? The Grape Road/Main Street shopping and restaurant district in Mishawaka is 10 minutes from the house. You'll find University Park Mall, boutique shops, chain restaurants, and local restaurants. Sky Zone (indoor trampoline park) and Strikes and Spares (bowling, miniature golf, go karts, arcade center) are great places to visit.

St. Pat's Park and Madeline Bertrand Park (disc golf course) are close by.

There are a ton of great golf courses in the area! The closest being two courses at Notre Dame and Blackthorn. Studebaker is a nice city-owned 9 hole course.

If you enjoy local craft beer, there are some great breweries in the area. Barehand Brewery, Crooked Ewe, and Evil Czech are some of our favorites. Iechyd Da Brewing in Elkhart is worth the drive.

40 minutes south of the house is Potato Creek State Park. You can rent canoes, paddle boats, rowboats, and bikes.

If you go north and hop on US 12 within an hour or so you can be in New Buffalo for the beach on Lake Michigan, dining, and a casino. Just under an hour you can be in Sawyer, Michigan, and go to Warren Dunes State Park. Run down the biggest sand dune and swim in Lake Michigan. In the same area is Journeyman Distillery and Deer Creek Hunt Club, a very nice place to skeet, clay, and wobble shoot.
