COVID-19 as of June 30, 2020 12:00 p.m.

Hawaii has achieved an important milestone in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the efforts of many people, including those of you who postponed your trip to Hawaii, and our residents who abided by the quarantine restrictions, Hawaii is beginning the process of re-opening the state to visitors.

Beginning Saturday, August 1, Travelers to Hawaii who have a valid negative COVID-19 polymerise chain reaction (PCR) test from a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certified laboratory prior to arriving at Hawaii’s airports will not be subject to the state’s mandatory 14-day quarantine. To be clear, this test result must be confirmed prior to arrival and the passenger must present evidence of this test upon arrival. Individuals will be responsible for the cost of the pre-travel test.
We’ve all sacrificed to reach this stage of re-opening and it’s essential we continue being vigilant. The pre-travel testing process allows travelers to return and allows us to continue to protect the health and safety of our community, which is our primary focus and priority .

Pre-Travel Testing Program for Out-of-State Travelers – August 1
Beginning August 1, travelers to Hawaii who have a valid negative COVID-19 FDA-approved PCR test from a "CLIA-certified laboratory" 72 hours prior to boarding their flight to Hawaii will not be subject to the 14-day quarantine. To reiterate, this test result must be done prior to arrival and the traveler must present evidence of this test.

Travelers will be responsible for the cost of the pre-travel test.
No testing will be provided upon arrival at the airport.

The 14-day quarantine will remain in place for those who choose not to get pre-tested. If the quarantine is refused, the passenger must make arrangements to leave the island immediately without leaving the airport.

Temperature checks will continue at airports across the state. Anyone with a temperature higher than 100.4 degrees or who is experiencing other symptoms will be required to undergo a secondary screening at the airport with trained healthcare staff.
Travelers will be required to fill out the State Travel and Health Declaration forms upon arrival.

Everyone must wear facial masks in all Hawaii airports and when entering places of business.

No COVID-19 PCR testing will be provided upon arrival at the airport. Therefore, we strongly encourage anyone not willing to get pre-tested, to please refrain from visiting Hawaii as our 14-day quarantine regulations will remain in place and are stringent (guests are not allowed to leave their room except to seek medical care or to go to the airport to return home; food is to be delivered to your door for the full 14 days; all costs for the 14 day quarantine are borne by the visitor). Your adherence to them is closely monitored. Violators are prosecuted.

Further details are forthcoming, such as: from what age will children be tested, how long the pre-arrival testing requirement and quarantine process will be in effect, whether this only applies to travel from the mainland United States or does it also apply to travel from other countries, and how this affects residents returning to Hawaii. We will continue to update this site with confirmed information.

★ Phase 3 Seawall construction has started and is scheduled to run through the end of September 2020 (Barring no Delays). At the moment, it looks like construction will be completed sometime in August. The construction will mostly be out of view of the condo, but there will be some construction noise during normal business hours.

★Storm Damaged to Beach Access Stairs. Direct access to our beach will resume at the end of Phase 3 construction scheduled to be completed the end of September 2020 (updated July 2020)

Our condo has been recently updated and completely renovated for your stay. This fun upscale condo is a touch of luxury in paradise. Hear the waves crashing while you sleep. Watch the most amazing sunsets!

The reef in front of our building is one of the premier kitesurfing and windsurfing areas on Maui. When the wind is blowing, you are in for quite a show! One of the best surfing beaches on Maui is also within walking distance. It takes a North or Northwest swell for S-Turns to work it's magic for surfing! S-Turns has both left and right break and has a sandy bottom. A typical NW swell produces 4-6 foot waves that are perfect for longboarding. This is rare on Maui!

Why should you stay in our condo? It's hard to compare our condo to other vacation properties from just the pictures. All of the condos in our building are unique. While they are all in the same building, many are dated and well-worn, the ground floor units suffer from privacy issues. And many owners defer maintenance and prefer to treat their properties like a hotel with little regard for the guest experience.

We take great pride in keeping our vacation home clean, well maintained, comfortable and in top condition! Our condo was recently remodeled. When something wears out or looks dated, we have it replaced or repaired immediately. We provide beach towels, snorkel gear, binoculars for whale watching, boogie boards, beach chairs, extra pillows, soaps, shampoo and conditioner and much more! We have new “smart “TV’s with Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime, even Bluetooth speakers so you can listen to YOUR music. We have installed screened security doors so that you can leave the doors open and listen to the wind and waves! There is really no comparison to most of the other condos in our building (or area) and the things that we provide for your vacation experience. Please read our reviews!

While we can't guarantee it, we encounter sea turtles on almost a daily basis in front of our condo. We see whales from our balcony/lanai. And there is great snorkeling right out front.

★NOTICE: ★

Beach Access Issue - In late October 2019, we experienced an extremely high surf and swell conditions that caused damage to the beach access at our condo complex. The high surf undermined the landing to the north set of stairs and opened a sinkhole on the north property boundary between our condominium complex and the neighboring property. Our HOA doesn’t believe that the stairs to the beach will be put back into service until sometime around September 2020. This may limit the amount of area between the condo buildings and the ocean that are accessible to guests and it’s unclear if the landscaping in this area will be replaced immediately.

What this means is that access to the beach requires a detour. There is a beach access corridor just to the north of the condo. There are instructions on how to get to the beach access corridor in the “House Manual” inside the condo. We will also supply a copy of beach access instruction in our welcome packet. A side note, please be aware that all the beaches in Hawaii are public. Please look at the photos on our Airbnb/VRBO and personal websites on how to access the beach.

★★★ ★CONSTRUCTION UPDATE (Nov-2019)★★★ ★
Phase 2 Seawall construction has been completed! No Construction from Now until April 2020. Phase 3 Construction begins April 2020 and is scheduled to run through the end of September 2020.

Construction could run longer if there are delays. Such as weather or availability of construction materials. IF the constriction runs longer than projected dates, we will automatically reduce your nightly rate to the Construction Special Rate of $159.00 a night. If constriction runs longer than projected completion dates, the reduced nightly rate will be applied after check-in.

EVERY oceanfront property on Maui is likely involved in some type of beach management or beach replenishment project. Even the properties at Kaanapali Beach! Other condo owners may not tell you this or may not even know what's going on.

While this is not an ideal situation. There is no work being done on the buildings. The emergency stair work should not interfere with anything at our condo unit, although there will likely be construction noise during the day. But again, you'll most likely be running around somewhere else on the island.

Since this is something that is unforeseen that has the potential to impact your stay, we would like to offer you a $159.00 nightly rate discount that we will credit back to you through your Airbnb account. **** THIS SPECIAL RUNS FROM April 2020 and runs through the completion of construction scheduled sometime in September.

The construction special will start up again in Mid April 2020. The next construction special runs from Mid April 2020 through the end of September 2020.

We’re probably making this sound much worse than it is, but we don’t want you to be surprised by the ongoing construction. We will keep you updated with any changes and information as it becomes available. We plan on being in Maui during this construction too, and we don't expect that this will be an issue! At least it wasn’t during our three weeks stay in July.

★Our condo is a legal short term rental in the State of Hawaii and Maui. We are REQUIRED to collect Hawaii State taxes of 14.42% for every reservation. This consists of the Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax (TAT) of 10.25% and the General Excise Tax (GET) of 4.17% This tax will be added to your total when you pay through Airbnb.

★The State of Hawaii is cracking down on illegal short term rentals and many people have had their vacation plans cancelled without much recourse since the hosts were operating without permits in residential areas. This is very important as there are many short term rentals that do not pay these taxes and will likely put your stay in jeopardy.

★There is a cleaning fee for each stay which is included in your total from Airbnb. We believe in paying a living wage to the people who clean our condo. Hawaii is an expensive place to live and raise a family. We hope that you understand why our rates are what they are. We do not "mark up" the cleaning fee in any manner, it is the actual fee charged by our cleaning service.

★Our on island management company requires that food items left in the condo be removed due to liability reasons, food allergies, health department codes, and religious or philosophical issues that may impact a guest. They will actually toss any perishable or questionable items left in the condo refrigerator or kitchen cupboards. Anything with sugar in it is also a problem due to the possibility that it will attract insects and pests. We make every attempt to provide the basics for your stay; salt, pepper, cooking oil, some spices, etc. Please remember, this a vacation home and we live 3,000 miles away - we can’t always ensure exactly what’s in the condo when you get there. Food safety is important to us and your health and we hope you understand.

★We also provide, coffee for your first day, soap, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, and paper towels. We do not provide laundry detergent. Our kitchen does come fully stocked with all of the pots, pans and utensils that you will need to cook and we have a “Mr. Coffee” & Keurig style coffee maker, blender, microwave, etc.

★We strongly encourage you consider shopping for your stay in Kahului (near the airport) if you’re planning on cooking or staying for an extended period. There is a Costco, Target, Walmart, Whole Foods, Safeway and other “big box” stores in this area. We do have many local markets in the area but things are VERY expensive in Hawaii and Maui is the most expensive of all the Hawaiian islands. You’ll probably have “sticker shock” when you see milk for $7 a gallon for the first time.

If you desire a stay greater than 30 consecutive days, please contact us for information.

★No smoking of any kind in our condo. ( No Vaping, No Bongs, No E-Cigarettes, No Marijuana Smoking or any type of smoking product) Your security deposit will be forfeited if either of these rules are violated.

★Kahana Reef is a NO PET property. Service animals are welcome with proper documentation. We’re sorry our HOA does not allow Comfort Pets on any species on the property. By Airbnb policy, you are required to notify the owner of intent to bringing any animal on property before booking. Bring any animal on property without prior notice will result in forfeiture of deposit.

It is Tenant's responsibility to immediately notify Owners of the Annie's Surf Shack of any issues that they incur during their stay so that they may be promptly addressed. Owners of Annie's Surf Shack shall not be held liable, or otherwise take any responsibility, for any injuries that may occur to Tenant, and/or Tenant's invitee, that is caused or permitted to be caused by the intentional, unintentional, negligent, or careless acts of said Tenants, and/or invitees to the Annie's Surf Shack, the property and/or the possessions on the property including all structures and equipment. By the written or electronic endorsement of this Agreement, Tenant agrees to forever hold harmless and indemnify Owners of Annie's Surf Shack from any liability and/or responsibility arising therefrom.

Kahana is a quiet mostly residential neighborhood seven miles north of Lahaina. Kahana is located between Napili-Honokowai and Kapalua. There are a couple of small resorts in the area, but no major resorts. Most of the waterfront condos in this area are privately owned. If you're looking for a low key place to stay, this is it. Lahaina is a 10 minute Uber ride away.

There are plenty of restaurants, pubs, markets, surfboard, bicycle and snorkel equipment rentals within walking distance from for the Condo. The China Boat Restaurant is directly across the street from the Condo. There is a convenience store, pub and McDonald's one block away.

During your stay
We have Host Free Check-in, meaning there is not an office to check-in and no key to pick-up. We provide you with a personal access code to electronic door lock. The door code changes at 3:00 PM the day you arrive and will change automatically at 11:00 AM the day of your departure. Please keep your code in a safe place.

We split our time between Maui and Washington State. Because of this, we have an on-island manager to handle any issues that may arise. Phone numbers for our manager, cleaning company are located in the condo.

The access codes for the WiFi can be found in your Welcome Packet, and on Airbnb after you've booked. Also is located on the Modem.
