Lindsay and John were brilliant hosts, answering all our questions, being v honest about the suitability of their property for youngsters, and even welcoming us with a cream tea when we arrived (much needed after a 10 hour drive).
They were always on hand to help out, give us maps of the area and even sort an extra parking space.
Lovely hosts of a beautiful place. We hope to be back v soon
Me, my husband and 4 friends had a lovely stay. Lindsey and her husband were helpful, but equally gave us space to enjoy and explore. The cottage is beautiful with amazing views and you really feel away from it all. However we were also able to explore the Lake District from the great location (for car drivers). Would highly recommend this place for families or groups of friends. Thanks for a great stay. We hope to return next year.
We had a brilliant stay at the Sturdy Bank Barn. Lindsay made us feel very welcome and spent the time telling us about the area.
It was lovely to be out of the heavy tourist traffic and yet convenient to major sights and supermarkets. The house itself was spotless and comfortable. Our only challenge was finding the entrance to the Barn when we arrived as it is a small driveway off a busy road and doesn't match the postcode GPS.
Sophie and family were ideal guests and left the house spotless and also alerted us to a piece of broken glassware that they found in the cupboard and left out for us with a note explaining that they had found it in that condition. We were sorry not to see more of this family but we left for a well earned holiday ourselves.
The barn was fantastic and Lindsay and her husband were incredibly accommodating. We can't think of much to say to improve the experience other than the photos do not do this place justice. The views are stunning and a lovely big kitchen/diner for eating in the evening opens onto the garden BBQ area - great for groups.
We had 4 nights here with 5 cyclists. The location is excellent for some long and hilly cycles into the lakes, hardknott pass and wrynose. Lindsay let us store our bikes in the garage which was very useful as we spent some time getting our bikes ready for the rides. Also thank you for letting us stay past check-out.
We had a truly wonderful time at the Barn, which is so well done, great design, everything you could need to be comfortable and spotlessly clean. The views were amazing, location perfect and we lucked out with fantastic weather. We had a family reunion, 6 of us stayed at the barn, the rest either camped or did a b & b, it was the perfect location and Lindsey and John were really great, helpful and put up with all 13 of us at some meal times. If you have never been to the lake district, go!! The view is to the estuary and you are surrounded by sheep and rolling hills, it just doesn't get better than this and was a total bargain to boot.
Best of on airbnb so far, we have rented 3 places on this trip.
Our family (three generations) visited Sturdy Bank Barn over a weekend in August. As with other guests, we were delighted to find scones and cream waiting for us. We were all mesmerized by the views around the area, and as we walked into the house, we were all immediately blown away by the design features inside. The entire property was gorgeous, each room was beautiful, and the views out of the windows was amazing. We could see rolling hills, a small village, a farm, and a river - all rolled up into one view. There are several towns a small drive away, all with friendly people. The entire area is absolutely amazing, and we would all recommend it to anyone who loves breathtaking scenery and inspired design.
Perfect location for a home base to explore the Lake District and Peninsula. Sturdy Bank Barn is a modern comfortable well equipped home. Views from the home are spectacular on their own. Our hosts greeted us with smiles hugs and scones the perfect start to our stay. Great food options were shared pubs with wonderful food and even a special bistro night. Highly recommend Sturdy Bank Barn and know we will return.
