A beautiful collection of old stone cottages on the edge of a sleepy hamlet a few hundred yards from the idyllic Rance estuary.

Cosy in winter - with 2 wood stoves and a stunning kitchen/dining extension. And perfect in summer with a big garden, patios, and woods.

The space
At the end of a small, quiet cul-de-sac in a friendly hamlet, our holiday home opens onto woods and fields.

The big house has three bedrooms, accessible via a steep staircase. One twin, one double, and one small set of bunk beds (for children), plus a bathroom with shower and toilet.

If you are group of six adults, you can use the twin beds in the first cottage, which also has an en suite bathroom and washing machine/dryer.

Bedding and bath towels are provided.

If there are more than six of you - or you have elderly parents or a couple wanting more privacy - please contact us about renting the second cottage (for an additional fee), with its ground-floor double bed and en suite bathroom.

The centrepiece of the main house is the stunning new dining area with a fully-equipped kitchen, wood stove and high windows. Outside there's a stone barbecue, patio, table and chairs.

The sitting room, with its open fire place, wood stove, beamed roof and television, is perfect for a snug evening.

The large garden and countryside beyond are ideal for children. Our kids have spent every summer here for many years, exploring the woods, walking or cycling down to the beach or into the nearby village, and swimming or sailing on the Rance.

Plouër-sur-Rance, Bretagne, France

Follow the road downhill to reach the estuary and the lovely Chapelle de la Souhaitier. If you keep on the left-hand side of the water, there’s a private path you’re allowed to use, all the way to a secluded stony beach. There’s a lovely, longer, walk up through the forest from the beach and back via the Rigourdaine hotel.

The house is less than 3 km (from the small town of Plouer Sur Rance, with its old square, cafes, restaurants, marina, beach, supermarket, boulangerie (bring bicycles and cycle in for bread in the morning), sailing school and quiet charm.

The beautiful historic town of Dinan (cobbles, timber-framed buildings, battlements, river port, restaurants) is a short drive inland along the estuary.

St Malo (port, history, beaches, restaurants), Dinard (ditto), Cancale (oysters), and Mont Saint Michel are all nearby.
