The two door "saddlebag" cabin is surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forest and near McKee, a Kentucky Trailtown. Nestled in a small valley, our quaint cabin is the perfect mountain getaway. Built in 1894, by the Lakes family, it has a romantic, rustic and nostalgic feel. If you are a history buff, interested in Appalachian culture, or just want a charming, outdoorsy and secluded getaway, this cabin is for you.
After making your reservation, be sure to check out the "House Manual".

The cabin is close to several hiking trails.
Flat Lick Falls is a popular destination and boasts a 30 foot waterfall, interesting geologic formations and well maintained hiking trails. (20 minutes from cabin)
The Sheltowee Trace Trail is also nearby and is open to hikers, bikers, horses and ATV's. "Sheltowee" was Daniel Boone's nickname, given to him by the Shawnees and means "Big Turtle". This trail is 319 miles long and traverses the Commonwealth from Tennessee to Ohio.
The Pinnacles (40 minutes from cabin) is known for its beautiful overlooks. Multiple trails are well maintained and easy to follow. A great spot to day hike.
Farther afield is Berea (45 minutes from the cabin.), where The Boone Tavern and a variety of activities are located. In Berea, a small college town, there is a great pizza place, fudge shop and shopping. The Boone Tavern makes some of the best bread pudding in Kentucky and Berea is known for its unique artistry and crafts.
