The loft is beautifully designed and was an absolute pleasure to stay in during our time in Hong Kong. It is in a fantastic location with many nice bars and restaurants nearby.
Candace was an amazing host and responded quickly to all of our requests.
Camdace has exceptionally good taste! Iove all the decor in this loft and Can has been very responsive and helpful. Thank you for your beautiful space! I had a great time there
This is a beautiful space in a very lively and convenient neighborhood. The apartment is much larger than your typical HK apartment. I loved my stay here and would recommend it to others. In fact, I may stay here again in the future! Thank you, Candace!
Sadly we were quite disappointed with this apartment and tried to contact airbnb within the first 24 hours only to find there is no phone contact number for support. This is a $10 billion company that leaves you to your own devices when there are issues.
When we arrived at the apartment, the fridge had not been cleaned out and was 90% full with the owner’s food, drink and medication. All her clothes, handbags and shoes were hanging in the closet area, however there was little space left for our clothes. The cleaner had hung damp bed linen in the 0.6 m of hanging space left for us. At this point we rang Candace and she said breezily, ‘Oh, just throw what you don’t want out of the fridge and move the damp linen somewhere else to make space in the closet” For A$260 P/N you don’t expect to have to clean someone’s fridge out and re-arrange their closet after arriving tired from traveling. We were particularly unimpressed when we received a text from Candace three days in to locate a piece of her clothing and leave it with the doorman. It just took away the quiet enjoyment and sense of privacy that we had paid for. Candace should consider meeting guests when they arrive to show them where things are and how they work. We spent 30 minutes on the first night searching for the correct power lead to inflate an air mattress for our daughter to sleep on.
The site’s photos are by a professional photographer, however, the apartment in reality is crammed with Candace’s work materials. There are no photos of the bathroom and we now understand why! The bathroom is only 2 sq meters total - the toilet / wall basin area is 1 sq meter - about the size of a plane’s toilet. Using the wall basin and mirror setup is libel to give you a skull fracture if you try to brush your teeth!
When trying to make breakfast after the first night we found there was no kettle to boil water or a toaster to make toast. The hi-tech electric hot plates kept turning themselves off every 20 seconds so when frying we had to constantly re-set and turn it on again and again. It was maddening! The building’s stairwell was quite dirty and smelt bad every time you returned or went out.
On the plus side, Candace dropped off a toaster and kettle as well as extras hangers for us within 12 hours. The doorman (Mr Leung) was very helpful and welcoming. The location was great with many interesting antique shops and restaurants and cafes. The apartment was spacious by Hong Kong standards and the air conditioning was fabulous. It just lacks some of the fundamental equipment and amenities at this price point.
One final thing to note, this apartment does not have a TV. Who does not have a TV in their apartment!
Lesley has portrayed in accurate account of her stay, as can be verified by the many other reviews left by guests.
Fridge: contains basic cooking items (flour, sugar, spices, condiments, coffee, teas, water).
Closet: it is as photographed and there is more space then you would ever receive in a hotel to hang (website hidden) /Tea Kettle / Toaster: the flat is not listed as having these 3 items. I was kind enough to buy her a kettle & toaster and deliver to the flat within 2 hours of her request.
Outlets: they are located at quite standard, reachable points in the flat. Searching for 30 minutes to find this is a reflection of the guest's capabilities.
Text Request: was only in response to Lesley's many requests.
Stairwell: there is a clean well-kept lift in the building. Stairwell is a fire exit.
Candace was very responsive to all questions and concerns. Unlike the hotels that I've stayed at in Hong Kong, Candace's place is very accurately reflected in her photos. Anyone who has spent a significant period of time in Hong Kong will truly appreciate the great layout, space, and decor that Candace offers. The location is awesome, just a 10 min walk from some great restaurants and popular bar scene. Hope it's available next time I need a place to stay!
My favorite place in HK so far! I've been traveling out of a suitcase for 2 months and this apt is where I felt the most at home. It's in what I consider the best area of HK, with many restaurants, galleries and artsy shops and Central 'next door'.... plus the place is beautifully designed. Candace was a great host and very responsive especially considering she was in a different time zone. Just wish I could stay here every time.
Great location on a lively street, super easy to check in and check out. The interior design is very cool, and comfy at the same time. The gentlemen at the front door are friendly and helpful with directions and info about the neighborhood. I had a great stay, highly recommended. A gem in Hong Kong.
