Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
The GlassHouse is the much talked-about experience that we had crafted within a sprawling forest preserve. Its wrap-around windows allow breathtaking views to bring out the romantic in all of us! We are stone’s throw up against the Appalachian Trail right on the Dutchess/Putnam line and are less than an hour from Manhattan.

Minutes from Fahnestock & Hudson Highlands State Parks & the Empire State Trail!

Welcome to The Glass House. Come see what the press calls "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House" and The Today Show calls an "off-grid oasis."
Feel the stress melt away in this glass-enclosed tiny house retreat, just an hour from NYC, but a world away.

This is a truly special place, nestled beside a nature preserve and bordering the protected Appalachian Trail lands. With families of deer wandering by, countless songbirds, and a flutter of butterflies in season, it offers an immersive experience in nature. To help keep this ecosystem thriving, we avoid outdoor lighting at night — reducing light pollution and protecting the natural rhythms that forest life depends on. Here, the stars shine brightly, the nights are peaceful, and despite its secluded setting, you’ll find the comforts inside surprisingly luxurious. Use your cell phone light to walk up the trail if you arrive after dark.

The listing includes:
-A 180 square-foot glass-enclosed tiny house, offering spectacular views from within pristine woods nestled on a hidden hill on 100 acres of private land, just off the Appalachian Trail.
-Unbelievable access to nature. There are many private trails on the land, as well as easy access to the Appalachian Trail, and minutes from Fahnestock State Park.
-15 minutes from the bustling city of Beacon! Visit the Dia: Beacon for your art fix, and go out to a nice meal before retiring in this woodland oasis.
-Lots of privacy on 100 acres of private land.
-Outdoor dining and lounging furniture, along with access to a fire pit and your own grill with propane cooktop.
-A plush queen-sized bed with a super-comfy Casper mattress and insanely comfortable pillows
-A dining table with two chairs for sitting and eating and/or working.
-A modern stainless-steel kitchen with a mini-fridge, outdoor grill/cooktop for cooking, microwave, and electric kettle. Despite the small size, it has just about everything but a range oven.
-Wifi (even though you know you should be unplugging!)
-Heat and A/C for all-season comfort.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: Can I get to the house without a car?
A: The house is about 15 minutes driving from the Beacon Metro-North train station (about 60-90 minutes from Grand Central). If you choose not to drive the whole way there are Zipcar pickups at the train station (reserve in advance!) and Uber/Lyft and Beacon Taxi all drop off to us. However, a car is highly recommended (especially if you want to explore the area as you will feel quite trapped without one), and the car-free will need to show up with everything they need for the stay (though Uber Eats is starting to deliver and there is local pizza delivery).

Q: How close to the house can I park?
A: As the GlassHouse is on a wooded nature preserve, the designated parking spot is approximately 100 feet away. While this walk is very short, guests should note that this path is uneven, unpaved, intentionally devoid of artificial light so as to protect the natural surroundings.

Q: Do I need to bring towels or linens? What about a hairdryer?
A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Q: How will I receive the key?
A: The house features a lockbox and keyless entry system. This allows for effortless check-in and entry.

Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests?
A: Yes, and we take pride in providing a clean home for guests. Take a look at our reviews—We think you'll find our guests agree!

Q: What's up with the cleaning fee?
A: Every cent of it goes to my cleaner, who is a professional and worth every penny.

Q: What's my total booking price?
A: I honestly have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest, and not the host, the total cost. This figure should be present after you enter your dates. Note that, pricing varies on a daily basis, so you will need to enter the correct dates to see your price.

Q: I am looking for a last-minute stay. Can I make a same-day booking?
A: If you're looking for a same-day booking and the place is free we will do our best. Check-in may also have to be later than the listed time in order to make sure the place is ready. Still, can't hurt to ask.

Q: I know it says "No Animals". Can I bring my small/well-behaved dog?
A: I love dogs, but there are safety reasons why we cannot allow them on the property. First: There is a farm dog who gets very nervous when other dogs are around. More importantly: This is for your dog's safety, as there is wildlife out there. Basically: Please don't try to sneak one in--this really doesn't end well and guests who violate this rule will be evicted immediately without refund nor exception.

Q: I'm a blogger/YouTuber/influencer. Can I stay for free?
A: No.

ONE LAST THING: We really appreciate you reading all of this. Again, if you ANY questions please send us a message right now and we are more than happy to answer them. Hope to see you here on the farm!

Guest access
Make yourself at home (you know: within reason). A touchpad smartlock allows for keyless entry and effortless check-in and coming-and-going. The GlassHouse also comes with access to outdoor furniture and a fire pit, as well as absolutely incredible views and total relaxation.

Other things to note
The GlassHouse has a unique, sustainable feature being in a nature preserve! Please take note:

-The toilet is a Laveo dry-flush toilet. This is the same toilet Matt Damon used in The Martian. When you "flush", it basically deposits your business into a sanitary and completely odor-free vessel without using water. It's actually cleaner and smells less (as in: not at all) than a composting or even regular toilet. This system features cartridges that are changed out between guests, and offer around 20 flushes per stay. This is typically adequate for two guests for two nights, but guests are advised to conserve flushes. There are videos on the changing of the toilet and the swapping in of a new cartridge in case you run out of flushes that I will send you. It’s easy!

Guests will also need to dispose of this in the garbage can on their way out (again: I promise, it's easy!)

ALSO:
-Firewood can be purchased at any gas station in the area on the way in.

-The house is very much immersed in nature. Nature has bugs and animals. You may see both. There may even be an ant or similar such bug in the house. I promise it won't hurt you...unless you leave the knives out! Bwaaaahaaahaa!

-As the GlassHouse is situated on a wooded nature preserve, the parking spot is approximately 100 feet from the house. The walk is short but uneven and unpaved, so guests should be aware. (Please do not attempt to drive or park past the designated spot or you will damage the grounds).

This path is also intentionally left without artificial lighting to protect the wildlife and reduce light pollution. Artificial light at night can disrupt the natural rhythm that forest plants and animals rely on for rest, feeding, and migration. By keeping the woods dark, we help the ecosystem thrive — and give you a breathtaking view of the stars. Please use your cell phone flashlight for your safety and enjoy the peaceful glow of nature.

-The kitchen is fully stocked but does not have a cooktop to avoid stinking up the tiny house. The grill runs year-round and features a side burner that works just like a cooktop. Couldn't be easier!

-The property is in a wooded area with naturally occurring snow and ice in winter. We provide ice melt/sand and encourage guests to use it as needed. Surfaces may become slippery — please walk carefully. We make every effort to keep things safe, but guests are ultimately responsible for their own safety in this wooded environment when it comes to things like slipping and maintaining proper footwear.

-Please don't put hot pans or similar items on any tables. They will burn and we will need to bill you for the replacement cost. (Sorry to mention, but it's happened!)
