Pura Vida is a 3 bedroom home with 100% AC on a quiet and safe street in Esperanza, Vieques. We are one block to the Malecon (ocean front Caribbean), a quick & less than 5 minute walk. We are baby and kid friendly and also offer a Honda Pilot 8 seat SUV. We charge $50 per day plus refundable security deposit for our SUV which has plenty of room for people and beach gear (which we have plenty of at the house).

The space
Pura Vida is an inviting home located in Esperanza, the quaint fishing town of Vieques as well as the most popular tourist area. The three bedroom, one bath house is located in a great neighborhood, only 1 block, or less than a 5 minute walk, to the Malecon.

There is a lack of rental cars on Vieques, and if not reserved ahead of time, they may all be sold out. Avoid being left without a car to explore Vieques. Our SUV has three rows of seats holding 8 passengers. If you are a larger group staying at Pura Vida, an 8 passenger SUV negates the need to rent two vehicles, you can everyone fit in one SUV, thus saving you money on both rental fees, gas etc. We do charge extra for the SUV, please inquire and I will promptly respond with the rate. Similar sized vehicles rent for $100+ on Vieques. While we try and shake the sand out of the floor mats, the SUV is made for going to the beach. Our competitive rate for the SUV may mean there could be some leftover sand on the floormats.

We are baby and child friendly! At Pura Vida we have a Pack N Play crib, child booster seat for feeding (works well instead of high chair), Britax car seats, booster style car seats, and stroller. We may also have a beach toys, child snorkel gear, books, games and puzzles to keep kids entertained. That is if they aren't worn out after a long day at the beach. We are happy to provide these child amenities to our guests free of charge, pending no abnormal damage to them. Each bedroom has a TV with Roku streaming media device. There is also a Blu Ray DVD player, vast library of adult and children DVDs, Playstation 2 and Wii with games for you to enjoy.

Although we offer a SUV, our convenient location allows one to easily enjoy much of what Vieques has to offer without driving. Stroll to dinner and dine overlooking the Caribbean, grab a drink at one of the oceanfront bars, spend the day at the park, or experience the beauty (and nightlife) of Esperanza Beach and the Malecon, all within walking distance.

Part of Puerto Rican culture focuses with roosters, from show to fighting. There are roosters in virtually all of Esperanza and Vieques as a whole. Neighbors near Pura Vida, and many residences in Esperanza and Vieques, have roosters. You can hear roosters during the day at Pura Vida and most everywhere in Esperanza. Around dusk they are quiet. With the AC running they are virtually inaudible within the house. Most people report roosters don't bother them and they get used to it. Therefore we want to make it clear that roosters do exist on Vieques and the neighborhood.

All bedrooms have Air Conditioning. We also have a central Air conditioning unit in the main living area giving Pura Vida 100% AC comfort. We also have WiFi at Pura Vida for your use.

We love the fact we can walk to the Malecon (oceanfront bar, restaurant and gift shop area). If some people in your party are getting ready and others want to walk down, it's very easy to do. The neighborhood is also very safe.

We purchased Pura Vida in the summer of 2006. Myself (Jeff), my wife (Michelle) and our two kids (Andrew born 2007, Caroline born 2010) are the proud owners of the property. We have put countless hours of sweat, capital and time improving and maintaining the home, which is not exactly easy on a remote Caribbean island! When we are not on Vieques, we live full time in Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania where we enjoy boating, fishing, skiing and all the other activities our kids keep us busy with. We feel we provide an excellent location, value and convenience with our vehicle at Pura Vida, and many others feel the same. We have had many repeat guests who have become friends each year, hopefully you will become not only a guest but a friend as well. Each year we continually invest with capital improvements to make your stay more comfortable. We continually update and replace amenities for your satisfaction. Our rentals have averaged 250 days per year, we would not have rental numbers such as those without amazing and knowledgeable care takers, and satisfied guests. No house can claim to be all things to all people, however we feel we offer a tremendous value and location.
