About this listing
A spacious flat with nice views -from a family who lives in it most of the time -in a quiet street in one of SF's best neighborhoods. 4 bedrooms, sleep 10, walking distance to public transport and to the restaurants of the Mission. The place has plenty of charm and quirks, to experience the city like a true San Franciscan.
Full flat: a large unit at the top of Liberty Hill, near the Valencia corridor and with easy access to BART, MUNI, public transportation and freeways.
The 4 independent rooms all have a queen size bed in it and one of the rooms also has a bunk bed. There is a large dining table and even a grand piano. But keep your inner Beethoven in check, it's a middle floor with neighbors above and below.
I live in this flat year round, and I host occasionally on Airbnb when I'm not around***. While you'll have the place to yourself, you won't be in a sterile hotel room. My kids' art is on the walls; there are quirky features. I love my place, and I hope you will too. For you, it's like staying at some friends: you'll have plenty of space to yourself, but some of our belongings (books, kids' toys, some clothes in dressers in the kids' rooms) will still be here. We trust you with our stuff, it shouldn't get in your way.
The pictures may not show that the place is lived in. I'm upgrading as I go, and while it's not perfect, it's getting better all the time. Check them out carefully anyway: some were taken by a professional airbnb photographer, and the most recent ones by me; you'll see some changes already!
The amenities in the unit is basic. The kitchen has all you need. But there is no TV, no cable. It's bring your own tablet/laptop and stream Netflix (wireless Internet is provided). There is a music box where you can plug your iphone or play CDs.
It is a private unit. Unless I'm traveling, I am usually nearby and will assist you right away should you need anything.
The guests have access to the kitchen, bathroom and may even request the garage. You may use the kitchen, but the place is not designed to entertain and cook up a feast. Just basic stuff, pots and plates and mugs and coffee maker and microwave.
It's on the third floor of a 4 unit building with nice views over downtown. You can see the Bay Bridge from the kitchen and views of SOMA and the Bay from the bedroom.
The unit is in a wonderful neighborhood, near Dolores Park and near Valencia Street's restaurant. In particular, Tartine Bakery is 3 blocks away, Delfina restaurant, Bar Tartine, Locanda, Farina, Bi-Rite creamery, all are a short stroll away.
You won't need a car! It is walking distance from the BART station (24th st is a few blocks away; but the house is uphill from the station, be mindful of this!) The J-Church muni train is a block away to wisk you downtown/financial district/moscone center/embarcadero/ferry building.
The place is on Liberty Hill, among a row of former embassies and similar spectacular building. The neighbor across the street recently purchased his place, his name is Marc Zuckerberg.
It is easy access from the freeways, so if you need to visit the South Bay/Silicon Valley, you'll be on 280 relatively fast.
*** If you are a business traveler who is put off by this kind of set up, Airbnb may not be for you in San Francisco. Per city rules & regulations, only hosts who really live in the place can host on the Airbnb platform in San Francisco, and we can only host for at most 90 days for the whole place. This is to protect long term tenants in our city.
You will be able to access all rooms in the unit! It's all for you to enjoy.
Interaction with guests
If you are in my unit, it means I am not! I may be on a business trip, in which case I won't be able to interact with you directly. I am almost always reachable by phone and email. And often enough, I'm staying nearby. I will send detailed instructions that should take care of most issues. If not, let me know, and I'll update.
This is an extremely walkable neighborhood, and you won't need a car. The easiest way to go around town is to take the MUNI light rail. The J-line is a block away from the front door, and it's a flat walk to the stop. You can easily walk to the Mission and to Noe Valley, both nice neighborhoods with lots of amenities, bars, restaurants, shops, cafes, etc. And you can take BART: it is a 10mn walk from the place, with a big caveat for some: the last block is a steep uphill.
Other things to note
Quiet hours are to be respected as the apartment is in a shared building. There are neibhbors above and below. Loud noise after 10pm or before 8am will result in termination of the stay with no refund, per AirBnB rules.
We ask that guests remove their shoes in the unit since we installed new carpet.
No pets in the unit.
There is a coin-operated washer and dryer on the ground floor of the building.
French guy who has lived in SF since 1997. I work in tech, like most everyone around here. I fell in love with this neighborhood, I'll never move away; but I have lived in the Sunset, panhandle, lower Haight, and Bernal Heights. So you can ask me about the city...
