We have a bright little bachelor suite with a queen size bed, a claw foot tub, a kitchenette and a desk. WiFi is available. The kitchen has an under cabinet fridge, two burner hot plate, a Webber BBQ, a French press coffee maker and a toaster oven. We provide some light breakfast items for your first morning. The entrance is separate and private.
The suite is located on the ground floor of our house and our house is located 8 km from Nelson and 2 km from a regional park with a sandy beach that gets lots of late sun. Our home ski hill is Whitewater - which is about 30 km away. Red Mountain is just 60 km away so our place is a pretty good split between them both. Kootenay snow is famous and so is the food.
We have one toddler and can be lively after 8 am and quiet after 9 pm.
Many lovely walks are right outside our doorstep.
Our house is close enough to Nelson to feel like you are there but far enough away to know that you are not.
Please give advance notice of your arrival time.
Our little suite is equipped with a simple kitchenette and you are welcome to use it however we would request that you not fry food or cook greasy meat etc. inside. There is a small barbecue under cover just outside you are welcome to use. Also please dont use candles or smoke inside.
Our driveway is steep; if its snowy or icy and you don't have snow tires and 4X4, please park at the top just off the road.
As always, Nancy, Jesse and Lilac were friendly and accomodating; breakfast was available in the suite, and they gave us towels for our visit ot Ainsworth -all really nice little gestures that go a long way.
Seeing the area in the spring is a nice surprise too, their location on the water is stunning and so much nicer than a banal hotel room.
We stayed 4 nights as our first airbnb experience and we couldn't be happier! Nancy and Jesse were great hosts. The room was a suite in the bottom of their house and ground level. It was overlooking a river with a 7 minute drive to town. So peaceful. We fell asleep listening to frogs every night.
We would definitely stay again. They checked on us to see if we needed anything but were not intrusive in any way. Thanks for everything Nancy, Jesse and Finley....Oh and Lilac too!
My husband and I had a wonderful time! We felt very welcome and the room was so nice, spacious, private, and clean. Having the little kitchenette was nice because we were able to save some money by making our own dinner. Jess recommended a wonderful hike to Pulpit Rock and gave us a few other trails to try. Nancy was very sweet and friendly, and I loved having Lilac (their dog) greet us. She is such a sweet dog. We definitely felt at home and would love to stay again :)
We loved our stay at Where the River Meets the Lake! Nancy and Jesse were overly accommodating, leaving us a guidebook to local skiing in the room as well as delicious breakfast goodies for the next morning. The apartment is small and cozy, private and clean.
We made a last minute reservation and were very grateful Nancy was able to accommodate us. This suite/apartment was perfect for our little family. Jesse greeted us and was kind enough to offer to help us unload our vehicle that was parked at the top of the driveway, since the snow and ice made it difficult to park down by the entry. The space was cozy and warm and there were plenty of hooks to hang our outdoor/ski clothing to dry. Breakfast was provided the first morning, which made our mornings very relaxing and easy. Our 2-year-old daughter loved the space too. Some kid's toys were left for her to play with which was very kind. There was a bit of shuffling noise from upstairs, but the fan in the room provided great white noise to block it out. A bit of a drive to downtown Nelson and the ski area; the description of the listing is very accurate. Overall a lovely stay.
About the Host, Nancy
We are an active family of 3 (actually 4 - we have a sweet shepherd cross who was mis-named Lilac). She is friendly and fun.
We love Lilac and we love to play outside. Jesse and I have both traveled a bit and between us we can manage in English, Spanish and French. Our son Finn is 4. We thought since we are home for another while yet, it would be fun to have some visitors from lands distant and close. Welcome!
