The space
The listing is a personal abode built in 2003. It’s a living space away from the hustle of the tourism road yet still accessible to all of the island’s charms and destinations. It is a home with a small staff that takes care of you and the host’s family. Typical days are filled with bird sightings, the sound of waves, and quiet evenings.

If you want to stay by the ocean without the crowded spaces and motorbikes, this is your spot. We don't have next door neighbors over the fence.

The estate is surrounded by wildlife and is perfect for peaceful beach walks, paddle-boarding, and swimming during high tide. Sunrise is particularly beautiful since we face directly East.

Guests can walk down the beach for a pump-boat tour of all of Dapa's destinations, like Corregidor, Middle Bucas Grande, as well as other popular surf and island destinations.

The property has two separate buildings. One is the host’s home and the other is the listed Airbnb guest house. We only allow one booking at a time so that the host and our visitors can enjoy the exclusivity and space.

Neighborhood highlights

The Filipino word for a neighborhood is barangay. Barangay Union is one of the largest barangays in the island, yet it is still listed as a neighborhood of main port town Dapa. Union is unique in that it is a fishing village that specializes in catching squid, clams, and sea crabs. The roads of Union are still made of white sand, and you’ll have to trek along a narrow, bumpy, limestone and coral road to reach our house. On your way, you’ll cross fishermen tending their nets, kids playing on the street, and people singing their hearts out on karaoke machines. It’s a neighborhood that hasn’t yet been affected by the rapid tourist development in General Luna. Most tradesmen have contracts in GL, also known as General Luna, and are able to support their families by working there.

Union has its own elementary school and small market place, but many still shop in Dapa where you’ll find more variety in produce and slightly cheaper prices. You can still find sweet mangoes and fruit, or a case of beer and chips for your afternoon merienda, which is Filipino for snack time. You’ll also be able to find basic vegetables and other cooking supplies a few minutes' walk from home. Walking out of the gate, you'll pass by Union residents smiling and curious to meet you. There is also a nearby seawall where you can lounge around and soak in the true island life and meet the boatmen who you can commission on an island-hopping adventure. If you want to get really local and enjoy what our neighbours do, walk 2 minutes from our gate and visit Comahig Resort where Karaoke by the ocean is king. Order a few beers and try kinilaw while doing your best to impress the crowd with your favourite song.

Where I went to school: University of California at Santa Cruz
My work: Weddings and Events
I grew up in California and moved to the Philippines for surf in 2012. I married my husband at our home in Siargao and opened it up to Airbnb in 2017. I started my own events venue 2018 to promote Siargao as a tropical wedding destination. I am a working mom that continues to focus on her health, business, and family. I love aquaponic farming, dance parties, and enjoy karaoke. I also love playing ping-pong and badminton outside!
