The Log Cabin at Lost River was built in the 1960s and sits right in the George Washington National Forest. A convenient two-hour trip from the Washington D.C-Metro area.

Surrounded by nature, the quaint log-cabin charm is ideal for small families, couples & furry friends. Kayaks are provided!

As of 2019, we've installed a chimney liner making fire starting easy. There is a new Lennox AC/Heating System and a "tankless" water heater for endless hot water. Per request, we've added an electronic coffee grinder so u can enjoy your favorite coffee!

Inside the Log Cabin you will find an eclectic mix, from the furnishings to the art, not to mention all the comforts of home. The exposed logs provide the ideal ambiance for relaxing, paired with a beautiful natural stone fireplace.

The bedroom features a Queen sized bed, and the living area has a comfy day- bed. Enjoy the spacious living area that includes a dining room table perfect for serving and hosting. There is a full kitchen equipped for home cooked meals . Full bath with towels, shampoo, Conditioner, and shower soap.

This cabin is truly unique and a one of a kind getaway. It acts as a couples or writers retreat. It provides spiritual rest and a getaway for families. The nature offers much-needed silence. Enjoy the surrounding public lakes: Warden Lake and Trout Pond Recreation. Kayaks are provided along with life vests.

You may lose cell service 10 miles out from the cabin. This an off-grid experience! But if you need to connect to the internet, there is service just a short ride into town.

Please look for the sign next to the road that welcomes you.

This 1960's vintage hand-hewn log cabin sits on 2.66 wooded acres in the George Washington National Forest. Minutes from Trout Pond Recreation area, West Virginia's only natural pond. DUE TO COVID...VEHICAL ACCESS IS LIMITED TO THE TOP ENTRANCE...A NICE, FAIRLY SHORT HIKE TO THE BEACH IS REQUIRED.
The recreational area is great for boating, fishing, hiking, swimming and more.
Hiking trails through the GW Forest are abundant.
A quick 8-mile drive into Wardensville, you will find Kerr's Grocery store, wonderful restaurants, a farmers market, Lost River Trading Post, art galleries and other happenings. We also try to have current events listed for you when you arrive in case you want to venture out.
Larger hiking trails and other sites are listed in the Cabin journal which you will see when you arrive. Above all the rest, "The Cabin at Lost River" gives you the quite setting that provides the rest and relaxation you deserve after long days of stress in the hectic world you might sometimes find yourself in. Morning & evening walks around the property are a great way to start the day or wind down from the day out.

I am a native of Washington DC, (not many of us left.) and My husband is a Marylander.
Both of us have been coming out to the mountains of WV for many years. My family fist started coming out to the Shenandoah Valley in the 70's, I'm sure that's why I have an affinity for the mountains. My husband, before he became my husband, was also venturing out, purchasing a log cabin not far from this one. After we got married it seemed the natural course to pick up and get out of the city. Now living in a log home just outside of Winchester, VA. ( I think we like log houses). We are Parents to two boys (grown young men now), 2 donkeys, a bird and our SharPei Oliver. “Ollie” for short.

I am a designer working in North Bethesda and an artist, as is my husband. He is a jeweler in Bethesda, MD and a successful musician keeping him busy doing what he loves.

We are grateful that we can share what we think is truly special with our guests. A place of peace & rejuvenation of spirit. Any chance to connect with self and each other is fine by us.
