Our two bedroom house with a spacious porch overlooking ponds and rice field is perfect for those who want to experience the laid back country side living. It is 10min walk to Honda Bay's longest beach, and 1hour by public transport from the city.
The house's location is on an elevated ground overlooking a rice field situated on the edge of a private mini forest. It is made of concrete foundation and the walls are a mixture of wood and concrete while the inner walls are a mixture of concrete and bamboo. The bathroom has a built-in cabinet, tiled floor and walls. The bedrooms and kitchen floors are tiles, while the dining area and porch have wooden floors. The bedroom have screened windows and clear glass louvers that can be opened and closed to regulate room temperature. Although we currently do not offer AC, the place is breezy and surrounded by greenery.
In front of the house are four ponds stocked with fish that you can catch if you fancy fishing a little bit. Wildlife abounds in the mini forest. Birds, monitor lizards, and freshwater turtles are a common sight. We have our own water system and the house has plumbing and uninterrupted water supply. We are still landscaping some areas of the property but overall, its a peaceful little place where you can relax and enjoy, either alone or with a small group of close friends and family members. The place is ideal for 2-4 people, but you can squeeze up to six persons.
You will have access to all cooking and dining utensils if you wish to cook your own food. All the facilities in the house are free to use, provided that you take good care and clean it after use. We also provide complimentary drinking water (purified water).
I travel often and if I am not in the house during your stay, my brother and his wife will be there to assist you with your needs. If I am not travelling, I will be in the house during your arrival to orient you with the house rules. During your stay, I will stay in another house about 30 meters uphill from you and I will be available most of the time in case you need any assistance. For guests who are travelling alone or in pairs, I also rent the the place on a per room basis at cheaper rate.
The neighborhood is peaceful and friendly. We are a fishing and farming community. The beach is usually empty save for some local fisherfolks that use the area for subsistence fishing. It is usually great for early morning walks. We are midway between underground river and Honda Bay and ideal for people who wanted to experience and get acquainted with a more laid back lifestyle in the rural villages of Palawan (no night life here except if you go to the nearby resort). Try catching your own dinner using traditional fishing gears, or experience wading in ricefields and plant rice with the local farmers. Experience Island Hopping in Honda Bay, visit the Underground River, or trek to water falls and caves during your stay.
All sorts of public transport (jeepneys to AC van and buses) going between Puerto Princesa City and El Nido ply the route between 6am-8pm, beyond that, there maybe 3 to 4 trips available. Reservations can be made for trips from Puerto Princesa to El Nido. Fare is between 50-84 pesos to go to my place from the town center of Puerto Princesa. From the airport, you can hire a tricycle to take you to the public transport terminal where you take a northbound bus (El Nido or Taytay) and get off at my place (will send you a more detailed instruction upon booking). I suggest taking the Roro or Cherry Bus since they offer comfortable seating. I can also pick you up from the airport as long as you make arrangements prior your arrival. If you have your own vehicle, free parking space is also available.
We offer assistance on tours to Honda Bay Island Hopping, Underground River, hiking to waterfalls and caves, and pretty much anything beyond and between at a cheaper rate. There are local stores (sari-sari stores) that offer most of the stuffs you find in convenient stores (at cheaper price). There are also several fully serviced beach resorts (one walking distance from my house (1km away) where you can use swimming pool and other facilities. There is a small canteen owned by my brother just uphill of the house. It only serves student meals and open only on school days for lunch. However, you can preorder meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and have it served to you during your stay. Meals use mostly fresh ingredients from the village and from our own vegetable garden.
Palawan is such a beautiful island! Doods' place is a great way to get a local taste of Palawan, away from the city yet has access to interesting sights and experiences. Doods himself is very communicative and helpful since my first inquiry and made sure that me and my companions will have a great time overall in Palawan. I highly recommend the place and Doods as host.
Me and my girlfriend had the pleasure of being hosted by Doods.
I must say I felt more like family than a visitor.
Doods was excellent on communicating with not only me but also my girlfriend.
Even with the 12hr time difference he would reply to me seems like soon as I would hit enter,
Doods took care of all the arrangements I needed and even suggested some local stuff to do that was off the beaten track and would only have been know by a local.
He picked us up at the airport and even paid for a night at a hotel.
He took us to get the permits for the underground river and even arranged transport there.
Now his place is about 40min from city center but it is well worth the stay. Not only because of his hospitality but also his brother and sister in law and other family members.
The place is spacious and the layout excellent. There is a kitchen with full utensils if you do elect to cook.
Take it from me let the sister in law cook if she is available. She made some of the best Filipino food I have tasted .
You feel secure and at peace when at Doods place.
There is no trike noise like in the areas close to the city limit.
It has numerous ponds with fish and the area is surrounded by lots of flowers, orchids and a working rice field.
He made arrangements to have meal cooked for us and I must say they were some of the best Filipino food I have eaten.
When we elected to go into the city it was easy via the bus system think it was about 50p or so and it was fun riding with the locals.
Doods told us all about the history of the area and was great pointing out info and asking questions.
The guides he arranged to take us to the falls and other local point of interest were just as kind and hospitable as he was.
Me and my girlfriend will be back in the area and this is were we will say.
I will say you chose this location you will have a enjoyable relaxing and memorable time as of Doods and his family.
