Casa Sombra Verde is a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom Mexican style villa located in the gated beachfront community of Playacar Fase I, adjacent to Playa del Carmen’s tourist center. Casa Sombra Verde is a one-of-a-kind unique vacation rental property that you won’t find anywhere else. Walking through this house you can imagine yourself in a typical Mexican hacienda or a large traditional home. There are so many things to discover in this villa that it is really too much to mention but you’ll find all of this and more: arches, woodwork, talavera, wrought iron, Mexican tile and fabrics, painted wooden cabinets, hammocks, it simply doesn’t end. Besides many traditional Mexican furnishings and designs you’ll also find the house is equipped with the amenities needed for a relaxing vacation: TV, AC, and a safe in all rooms, SKY satellite service and wireless internet. The 2 best features you will find on the roof and the ground floor. The rooftop terrace has been made into a real Mexican cantina with a bar and stools, a fridge to store cold beers, a BBQ, and a spectacular ocean view. The second feature is the splash pool in front of the house. It is small but wonderful, you’ll feel like you’re in your personal cenote with a waterfall - just imagine yourself sitting in the pool with the water cascading onto your head. Come and check out this wonderful villa for yourself because the rates are wonderful too!
All instructions regarding the working of the appliances, internet password, cleaning days, check out procedure, etc can be found in the condo upon arrival.
House was just as advertised on all the reviews. Clean, well equipped, lots of interesting things to look at. Very close to the beach and the town. The beach was beautiful and significantly less crowded than the public beach. Playacar community is beautiful and very safe!
Casa Sombra Verde was truly a vision and definitely the best vacation rental I ever had! 2 min walk to the beach, and the house was equipped with everything necessary to not even have to leave it! It really looks exactly like the pictures, even better! I would definitely go back again!
Overall we had a great trip and the location of the house was great. 5mins to the beach, 10mins to 5th ave, ~20min walk to the grocery store. The house was decorated beautifully. A couple things to mention that I wish I'd known before I rented: the oven in the kitchen does not work, the jets in the tub pictured don't work, and the bed on the top floor is sitting on concrete so it was pretty uncomfortable, the two other beds were fine. I suppose that I aasumed certain things were standard in renting a full home, This was my learning experience that if something is not specifically mentioned than not to expect it.
The pool in the front was cute, however it really doesn't get sun so it's pretty chilly. We ran into some issues with trash pick ups, however we contacted the property managers and they helped resolve out problem in a timely manner.
If having the amenities of a home like a full kitchen is not important on your stay, this would be a great place for you.
Monica, the Property Manager at for house in Playacar, was professional and responsive to any questions we had about Playa and the property - wonderful place to stay - would definitely stay here again - just a block away from beach and there were some chairs and an umbrella we could use while there - just a 10-15 minute walk to Avenida Quinta and the ferry via a shortcut path through the park - hope to be back again.
Very comfortable and nice place, it is really one of a kind mexican villa. We enjoyed the whole place, the sitting are on the roof, little swimming pool. Direction were sent to us by Monica couple of days before we started the trip which were very helpful. They kept the place clean and there was maid service also to clean up every other day. The house is full of nice artifacts, decorated walls and every room has a AC including dining and living area. Every bathroom had lots of towels. It's proximity to 5th avenue and all the restaurants was a plus. Monica was not there when we arrived but she made sure one of here colleagues visited and checked with us if everything was fine.
We were glad that we stayed here and overall liked this place.

I'm originally from Amsterdam but in 1999 I chose the sunny skies of Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The same year I became a PADI dive instructor and the following years I spent a lot of time swimming around in the beautiful Caribbean waters. In 2006 I got the opportunity to look after a beautiful villa in Playacar. This is when I found out this work suited me really well. The rest is history, I started a property management and vacation rental business called Latido de Mexico. Now, 5 years later I'm still enjoying my job and my life in Playa del Carmen.
