About this listing
We have 2 beautiful rural cottages located in Normandy. They are next to each other , and could be rented together to accomodate larger parties. This listing is for cottage 1.
During August we only take full week bookings.
The cottage has a large combined kitchen, dining and lounge area, with a gorgeous wood burning stove, and a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher,. The cottage has 1 double bedroom, one family room with double bed and 2 singles. There is a small shower room with toilet. The courtyard room contains a washing machine, toilet and shower. The cottage benefits from a beautiful large garden, with bbq equipment, and is excellent for relaxing and eating in on those warm summer nights! There is parking at front of house.
Normandy really is the perfect place to visit as you have a great choice between seaside and countryside. The seaside boasts stunning coast lines with beautiful cliffs and long sandy beaches, while the countryside is packed with thatched cottages, and traditional farms!
The house benefits from an Ideal location for touring Normandy beaches. It is just a 20 minute drive to Omaha Beach, and as well as being scenically beautiful the area is also steeped in history. This historic beach was the primary point of landing on June 6, 1944, for the entry of American forces into World War II and saw some of the most intense fighting in the entire war. You will also see an interesting sculpture by Anilor Banon right on the beach called "Les Braves".
We are also approximately a 35 minute drive to Bayeux. In Bayeux you will find the Bayeux Cathedral which towers over the entire town. The exterior is surrounded by the helpful informational signals on stone or wood blocks, explaining aspects of the church's construction or architectural features. The interior has some excellent views of the architecture, statues and murals, and there are several (empty) crypts you can visit beneath the church.
As already written in the title of the ad, very cosy cottage! Situated in a quiet village between the Normandy D-day beaches and Mont St Michel, it was an excellent location to explore the region. It has a large yard where one can enjoy the fresh Normandy air while having a BBQ. The interior has a great French/English antique atmosphere, and the cottage had all utilities we needed. We did not meet Joy, but in our communication with her she was helpful and responded promptly.
Joy's cottage provides a true escape to the French countryside. It is both charming and rustic. We loved spending time around the huge dining room table and walking around the church across the street. While the church bells are very near, they stop at 22:00 and we did not find them to be too loud. We would recommend that visitors stock up on groceries before arriving as their are few ammenities in this sleepy town.
The cottage is located in a french hamlet across from an old gothic church, within 30-45 minutes of the D-Day landing beaches. The cottage itself is neat, clean, and very spacious; our party included 4 adults and a baby, and we had room to spare. Overall, the property exceeded our expectations and we would definitely recommend it to other travelers.
The cottage was just as cosy and comfortable as it appeared. Everything was in good working order. Although it was chilly outside, we were very comfortable without using the available heaters. Jackie and her husband, the caretakers were welcoming and helpful. The area was quiet and the church bells mentioned in the other reviews were not as loud as we expected. We rather enjoyed them.
Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt in ihrem Haus. Alles war sehr hübsch. Danke dass wir bei ihnen zu Gast sein durften. Wir würden dieses Haus jederzeit wieder buchen. Danke!!!

Joy's cottage was perfect for us! If you expect hotel standards, get a hotel room. This is a somebody's home! Our family of 4 stayed in the larger room upstairs that is exactly as pictured, and my in-laws stayed in the other room. As other reviewers mentioned, the bathroom is small, but the additional bathroom downstairs helps with the congestion.
The garden in the back is beautiful and peaceful, perfect for morning yoga. I wish Joy would put a picture of it on the website. My favorite feature of the cottage was the iron stove. It was rainy and damp during our stay and the stove was easy to operate and very efficient as it warmed up the cottage in no time and you could leave it on for the night (with all the vents shut tightly) and you'd walk into a warm kitchen in the morning. My kids were impressed with the wifi that worked very well when we were all on it simultaneously. Joy's caretaker was kind enough to provide some staples for us since we were getting in late and we much appreciated it.
This was the first time we used air bnb, and I am happy to report a positive experience. Thank you!
Nice place to escape from the noise of the big cities! Well equipped cottage with all you need inside. Their is a fireplace you can relax in fron of.
