We have 2 beautiful rural cottages located in Normandy. They are next to each other , and could be rented together to accomodate larger parties. This listing is for cottage 1.
During August we only take full week bookings.
The cottage has a large combined kitchen, dining and lounge area, with a gorgeous wood burning stove, and a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher,. The cottage has 1 double bedroom, one family room with double bed and 2 singles. There is a small shower room with toilet. The courtyard room contains a washing machine, toilet and shower. The cottage benefits from a beautiful large garden, with bbq equipment, and is excellent for relaxing and eating in on those warm summer nights! There is parking at front of house.
Normandy really is the perfect place to visit as you have a great choice between seaside and countryside. The seaside boasts stunning coast lines with beautiful cliffs and long sandy beaches, while the countryside is packed with thatched cottages, and traditional farms!
The house benefits from an Ideal location for touring Normandy beaches. It is just a 20 minute drive to Omaha Beach, and as well as being scenically beautiful the area is also steeped in history. This historic beach was the primary point of landing on June 6, 1944, for the entry of American forces into World War II and saw some of the most intense fighting in the entire war. You will also see an interesting sculpture by Anilor Banon right on the beach called "Les Braves".
We are also approximately a 35 minute drive to Bayeux. In Bayeux you will find the Bayeux Cathedral which towers over the entire town. The exterior is surrounded by the helpful informational signals on stone or wood blocks, explaining aspects of the church's construction or architectural features. The interior has some excellent views of the architecture, statues and murals, and there are several (empty) crypts you can visit beneath the church.
Very nice place to stay with your family. You feel at home and you can really enjoy the region. The wood burning stove is very charming during cold nights. You will find everything you need around the village (between 10 to 20 min by car). We could not enjoy the garden in this season but it looks nice for the summer season. Perfect organisation by Joy.
Charming cottage that was a great central home base for the Normandy beaches, Bayeax and Mont St. Michel. Well stocked kitchen, access to washer/dryer, reliable wifi were all perks as well. Joy was easy to communicate with and the instructions she left for the wood burning stove, etc. we're very helpful. Although we didn't have time to take advantage of it, the back yard outdoor space was lovely as well. Some things to note: although the cottage comes up accurately on (website hidden) Maps, the GPS in our rental car had a hard time with the address. Also, the house is essentially in the countryside, so spiders, flies, etc. are part of the deal. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a place to stay in normandy.
Charming cottage in rural Normandy- small but comfortable. All of the amenities are there. The bathroom is quite small but has all one needs. Property caretaker was very responsive to our unexpected supply need as well. All in all, a great place to stay.
We enjoyed our stay in the small village of Lison. The church bells added to the charm. The apartment was very clean and the water pressure for a shower was great.
We had a great stay at Joy's house in Normandy. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and pots and pans so we could cook most meals at home. The church across the street was charming and while we really enjoyed hearing the bells ring, we also were glad that we could close the windows and barely hear them when it was time for the kids to go to sleep!
We also really appreciated having a washer and dryer to use. With four kids and several days spent at the beach, it was really helpful to be able to do laundry. I was especially impressed with the dryer, which dried our clothes quickly and efficiently.
This was a great home-base from which to explore the area. We saw the Normandy beaches, the American cemetery, Mont Saint-Michel, the market at St.-Lo, etc.
