We have 2 beautiful rural cottages located in Normandy. They are next to each other , and could be rented together to accomodate larger parties. This listing is for cottage 1.
During August we only take full week bookings.
The cottage has a large combined kitchen, dining and lounge area, with a gorgeous wood burning stove, and a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher,. The cottage has 1 double bedroom, one family room with double bed and 2 singles. There is a small shower room with toilet. The courtyard room contains a washing machine, toilet and shower. The cottage benefits from a beautiful large garden, with bbq equipment, and is excellent for relaxing and eating in on those warm summer nights! There is parking at front of house.
Normandy really is the perfect place to visit as you have a great choice between seaside and countryside. The seaside boasts stunning coast lines with beautiful cliffs and long sandy beaches, while the countryside is packed with thatched cottages, and traditional farms!
The house benefits from an Ideal location for touring Normandy beaches. It is just a 20 minute drive to Omaha Beach, and as well as being scenically beautiful the area is also steeped in history. This historic beach was the primary point of landing on June 6, 1944, for the entry of American forces into World War II and saw some of the most intense fighting in the entire war. You will also see an interesting sculpture by Anilor Banon right on the beach called "Les Braves".
We are also approximately a 35 minute drive to Bayeux. In Bayeux you will find the Bayeux Cathedral which towers over the entire town. The exterior is surrounded by the helpful informational signals on stone or wood blocks, explaining aspects of the church's construction or architectural features. The interior has some excellent views of the architecture, statues and murals, and there are several (empty) crypts you can visit beneath the church.
This was a very cosy property, which was very well equipped for our travelling family. A highlight was the wood fire which kept us all very warm! The village was very quiet and the property was well located for trips around this bucolic region.
We spent a week in the cottage and did find it cosy in deed. Since we were there in November we were happy to find it easy to keep a fire going and it warmed the entire space. I loved the charming dinning table and could see a family having a terrific retreat here because of the large and gorgeous back yard, numerous beds, and this large table. The location was good for getting to all of the sites we were interested in seeing but the village is also charming. We were touched by the Armistice Day ceremony held in the church yard right across from the cottage. I definitely recommend this property.
We stayed three nights in the village of Lison at this roomy cottage. The location is central to a lot of the Normandy sites. We had to light fire the first night as there was a rain storm (no leaks). Enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area. one small note the church across the lane chimes on the hour until 10 pm at night, so you might want to stay awake until then. Overall this is an opportunity to experience a bit of the Normandy country side.
We stayed in Joy's cottage for three nights in September and it was fantastic. Firstly, I need to point out how relaxed she was, despite the fact that our last minute booking was made the day we arrived! This didn't faze her and she had everything prepared for our arrival.
The cottage is located in a typically beautiful french village that is tranquil, but 10 minutes drive to Isigny-sur-Mer, which has lots of shops.
When we arrived, the cottage was clean and spacious. It is decorated beautifully and has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. There is plenty of hot water, wifi, complete laundry facilities and a beautiful garden with seats and a BBQ.The big stove fire in the living room heats the whole house well and the kitchen has everything you'll need to make a big meal. In fact, it is so well equipped, it probably has a second set of everything you'll need :)
There are so many positives to this place, I don't think I can get it all into my review! I think it rained every day that we were there, but this made it weirdly better because the place is so inviting.
It is clear that this place is loved and has absolutely everything you could need for a break from the world in a cosy and inviting setting. Absolutely perfect and recommended for people looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday.
We had a very enjoyable late summer break staying in Joy's lovely cottage which is cosy, attractively decorated and furnished and has everything you could need for a holiday visit. A great spot from which to explore the area on bicycles - you can get to the coast and inland on quiet rural roads.
Highly recommended for a relaxing break in Normandy.
Great place to stay, very comfortable & well equipped, even had a proper teapot. The information & maps left on the table was very useful.
Lison is a very small place and peaceful except at 7am & 7pm when the church bells go berserk. The garden is lovely, we enjoyed sitting out in the evening with a glass of something local..
Recommended for couples who want a peaceful rural holiday.
We have been for several days in the cottage of Joy. It was a wondeful and cosy place. The cottage was fully equiped and there was nothing to complain. Even the Wifi went very smooth. There were instructions about the cottage and information about the surrounding. The garden was very huge and lovely to 'walk around'.
It is a good spot to discover D-Day sites and the north-west coast near Cherbourg. The village is very small and quiet.
Thanks Joy for renting your place.
An excellent rural destination in Normandy. Easy access to WWII beaches, Bayeux, Mont St. Michel, and other great Normandy spots.
Includes a well-supplied kitchen, a large dining table (great if you have a big family), modern laundry, and attractive grounds in back to further expand to.
We enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave!
Hi, I stayed with my girlfriend and we had an amazing time here. We were close to my working location, as well aareas that you can visit. All house amenities are available and work well. Thanks Joy.
