We have a first-floor,two-room suite with its own entrance in our home, located on an official Vermont Scenic Highway, in the middle of the Green Mountains. The suite has a large sitting room with some cooking facilities, a bedroom with queen bed, and bathroom with tub/shower.
Our home is easy to access and easy to find. We are located just 20 minutes from Killington and Sugarbush ski areas and 10 minutes from the Middlebury Snow Bowl. It is 30 minutes to Middlebury and an hour to Burlington and Hanover. (45 minutes to Ben & Jerry's)
You will have your own entrance off the front porch. There is adjacent off-street parking.
The sitting room has a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, plates, dishes, cups and silverware.
Your studio is quite private, but you can have access to several nice sitting porches and our gardens.
There is a country store almost across the street, and it's a two-minute walk to a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week.
We will greet you, show you the accommodations and answer any questions we can about the area and its attractions. We have lived here for over 40 years, so we know the area and the people very well.
Eighty percent of the town of Hancock is Green Mountain National Forest. The setting is very rural, but there is a surprising number of interesting activities year-round. We love this community.
We feel very lucky to have found this suite and to meet Dick and Dorothy. They were incredibly accommodating and friendly hosts that made us feel welcome from the first minute! The suite itself was clean, prepared for guests, and perfect for a last minute VT ski getaway. Dick and Dorothy took care of almost every detail from having milk in a mini-fridge to the excellent coffee-table books in the living room (we really liked the scientific analysis of snowflakes). Arriving there was easy; Dick left me a message instructing us where to park and was very flexible on the time since we were coming directly from skiing. One highlight we especially enjoyed was Dorothy's homemade banana bread (something worth a visit back, by itself). Hancock, VT is really close to Sugarbush (about 25 min) and there are tons of small towns nearby (like Rochester) with small cafes, stores, and plenty of nature trails. With the location, the warmth of the hosts, and the quality of the accommodations we cannot wait to come back to this suite!
Our journey through this winter wonderland was greeted by two lovely people: Dick and Dorothy. Our stay was more than a beautiful home and great hospitality, but a home away from home. From the first day Jeanine and I already felt more acquainted with Dick and Dorothy. They're willingness to help us out of the driveway when our car was stuck, greeting Jeanine a happy birthday, and actually spending time with us on our last night are times we will never forget. Saying our stay here is an understatment for how we really felt after the weekend. We left Vermont making two wonderful friends.
Dick and Dorothy are amazing hosts and we had a blast. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate with our ski plans, but Dick was most gracious when we decided to end our trip early. The location is perfect and the apartment is clean and comfortable. I feel like I have a home away from home and I can't wait to get back up there.
Suite in the Green Mountains was lovely. We had a great time, the location and accomodations were perfect. The rooms were a good size, very clean and you felt right at home immediately. Hancock is a small town but there were places to eat/purchase food within foot steps of the Suite. The breakfast at the Old Hancock Hotel were delicious home cooked meals. Would definitely stay there again. In fact, we are checking out calendars to see when we can return.
