The space

Escape the crowd of Marrakech and Fez, come to chill out overlooking the oasis of Todgha. La Maisonnette is the place to soak up the beauty of the High Atlas mountains. A place for relaxation, mountain walks and wonderful introduction in the Berber culture which surrounds it.

OVER VIEW

170 km east from Ouarzazate, on the way to the sand dunes of Merzouga, La Maisonnette is nestled in a beautiful Berber village overlooking the Todgha Oasis, just in front of the bustling city of Tinehrir. Surrounded by High Atlas Mountain and Djebel Sagho hills, this traditional rammed earth house was built in 1920'. With a true passion for Berber culture and architecture, we restored it with traditional and local materials. Subscribers of back to basics form of tourism and convinced that travelling is to understand our world and its people better, we decorated the house with simplicity, in complete harmony.

The 5 comfortable rooms with private bathrooms are individually decorated. Some have access to the garden or terraces, all have spectacular view on the oasis. Guests also enjoy the fresh natural food we cook for them, the warm child friendly environment and the direct access to the oasis and fields.

THINGS TO DO
Walking, trekking, climbing, riding, biking, cooking or just relaxing, it's up to you

Set in Tinghir city, 15 kilometres far from the famous Todgha Gorges and 1 hour-drive from the Dadès Gorges, the Maisonnette location is a perfect departure point to explore the south Moroccan region. It offers also a large range of outdoor activities for adults and children.

Walking or riding through the oasis and the surrounding hills is a pleasure worth indulging in. In addition to easy walks and picnics locally, guests can explore the region on longer treks including the remote Salt Mine of Aït Lahcen. La Maisonnette's mountain guides offer different treks and climbing excursions to suit all levels of fitness.

You can experience also a taste of Berber village life as you pass through the many local villages or meander in local markets.

Mustapha, the chef and warm host offers cooking courses. If you wish, you can visit with him his local providers to get fresh, seasonal and local products you will use to prepare a large range of typical recipes, such as alfalfa couscous and Berber bread.

The spectacular view is probably the most loved feature of the house, and is ideal for relaxing with a book or lying in the shade in the garden.

Relaxing henna sessions also available.

SAISONS PROPICES

This secluded house, tucked away off a backstreet away from the main centre of Tinghir is a perfect place to relax. Although it can be a bit hard to find, Fanny's directions were perfect and we had very few issues managing to get there despite it being a bit hidden. The set up was two separate rooms (one double, three singles) which had a partition door. Both rooms were outside the main building, which is occupied by Fanny's charming brother in law. While we were expecting our rooms to be inside the house, it was nice to have their company but also be able to expect privacy too. We never felt like they intruded. Breakfast on the terrace in the morning was wonderful, and we'd definitely recommend dinner if you get a chance. Make sure to ask to go up on the roof before sunset too - the views are one of the highest and provide an amazing 360 panorama of the valley. We wish we'd dedicated a bit more time to exploring Tinghir (it was a stopover for us between Merzouga and Marrakech) but equally we had a great time just relaxing. Thanks so much!

Did not meet Fanny, but her husband Mustafa was a terrific host and chef, and this place was easily our favorite of the 2-week Morocco trip! The place was modest but comfortable with all the amenities we expected, the view and grounds were great, and we very much enjoyed learning from Mustafa and eating his food! Would definitely stay here again.

This is a true local experience. Fanny and Mustafa are very friendly and flexible. They showed us around Tinghir and made us feel very welcome. The view from the room on the top floor is fantastic and the home made dishes even more so. We would definitely come back!

Fanny and Mustafa were really great hosts, they welcomed us with a fantastic dinner and also helped us planning the trip for the following days. Fanny guided us around Tinghir and explained a lot about the typical buildings, the renovations and the neighborhoods. Hopefully I will be able to stay at their place again for a longer time!

Inch Allah.
