My 'all amenities' studio apartment with private balcony overlooks the beautiful golden beach of Sandy Bay, on the Mediterranean/Eastern side of Gibraltar, at the foot of the amazing Rock, with just a few steps down to the sand. It is in a very peaceful part of Gibraltar, but within a short regular bus ride into town for the sights, nightlife and shopping. There are amazing sunrises, as well as ships, yachts, and if you are lucky, whales and dolphins. Nearby is Catalan bay for great food.

The space
MY APARTMENT IS CLEANED TO AIRBNB COVID SAFE STANDARDS. The building is very well maintained in its shared spaces. On entering my apartment, you will see the sumptuous super-king sized bed made up with luxury high thread count cotton bedding. Your eyes will quickly be drawn to the window, and you will not be able to resist going straight out to the private balcony to appreciate the amazing view of the sea, which is literally on the doorstep. Look to the left to appreciate the Spanish Andalucian mountains, and to the right to admire the Rif (Middle Atlas) range in Morocco. The stylish studio apartment is just the right size to be cosy but spacious enough to be very comfortable. There is a small dining/dressing table, with three designer chairs. It benefits from a 32 inch smart TV with access to many Sky channels, and UK channels. Free wifi is included. USB charging points available by the bed. There is a telephone for you to use for incoming calls, as well as a powerful hairdryer. It has a lovely little kitchen with quality equipment by Joseph Joseph, a full oven, microwave. toaster, and a fridge with ready chilled water for you. You will be provided with a welcome pack to get the first days of your holiday off to a good start, and a cafetiere for your coffee essentials. There is a foldaway table in the kitchen and stools for extra food prep space, or eating, but I think you will be spending all your time dining alfresco on the balcony! The super-king sized bed can be separated into two singles, with firm mattresses and memory foam toppers - extraordinarily comfortable! The bathroom has a powerful over-bath shower, and heated towel rail to keep your towels dry and the apartment toasty in the winter. There is a large wardrobe with hanging space and shelving, and a built in safe for your valuables (not necessary as Gib is very safe!). There is a comprehensive information file with bus information, maps and activities to enhance your enjoyment of this amazing place. It is very clean, stylish, and has a beautiful outlook, you can relax at night to the sound of the lapping waves, the peace and quiet is wonderful, although the bustle of town is in easy and quick reach. The nights are cooler in summer on the East side of the Rock, but I also have reverse air conditioning for your comfort summer or winter. The windows have blackout blinds, so you can sleep later or gaze at the amazing sunrises if you prefer! The private balcony is equipped with sun loungers and a table and chairs. Lanterns add to the romance of the summer's evening with the sound of the waves lapping. There is an awning for the balcony so you can have shade if you wish!
I am sorry there is no lift, and the apartment is down a flight of stairs, so may not be accessible for the disabled. I have catered for your safety with a smoke alarm, fire blanket, and fire extinguisher.

Where you’ll be

Gibraltar, Gibraltar

The first thing you will notice as you arrive in the amazing place that is Gibraltar is that everyone speaks English, and the Currency is British Pounds! You then can't fail to notice the Rock, as the North face towers over the airport. Then, you have the unusual experience of walking/driving across the runway, as the road from the airport/to Spain crosses it.

Gibraltar is a fascinating, small - 2.6sq miles by 1400ft high - British Overseas Territory, which means it feels like Britain, but is warm and sunny. There are an unbelieveable 32 miles of tunnels within the Rock itself, and six beaches, with Sandy Bay arguably the best!

Paddleboarding is available from the 'doorstep' beach by the apartment ((SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page is 'Stand up Paddleboarding in Gib')

The next beach along from the apartment is a favourite, Catalan Bay. This is a historic fishing village, where you will find eateries with local seafood, and an American diner, along with the 4*Caleta Palace Hotel. It is within easy walking distance for a meal out, and is popular with the locals.
Gibraltar is also a 'stopover' for migrating birds, and popular with birdwatchers.

The locals are friendly, and speak a curious mixture of English and Spanish called Llanito. There is a brilliant sense of multiculturalism and religious tolerance, with Catholics, Jews, Muslims and Hindus living peacefully together.

There are even Marks and Spencers, Debenhams, and Morrisons, along with the red post boxes and phone boxes to ensure you feel at home!
The 'Rock' has been British since 1704 and it has a fascinating history and military heritage, much of which is available through tours including the Great Seige tunnels, the museum, World War 2 Tunnels, and through a 'speaking plaques' app on your phone!

Rosia Bay is where Nelson's body was reputedly landed following his death at the Battle of Trafalgar, and the Trafalgar cemetery holds the remains of some of his crew.

Gorham's cave, the world heritage site, is thought to be the last known habitation of Neanderthals, with cave art engravings.

There is much to do and see, for both the adventurous, and the less adventurous, including a trip up to the top of the Rock in the cable car, where you will meet the local Barbary Apes. St Michael's cave, about a 20 minute walk from the top cable car station is a great venue for concerts and has an amazing variety of stalagtites and stalagmites. You can even book a more adventurous and challenging tour of the Lower St Michaels Cave, with its beautiful underground lake.

A new free suspension bridge on the 'Thrill Seekers Trail' is constructed over a 50 metre gorge, and is 71 metres long. Also, for the fitter amongst you, is Mediterranean steps, an approximately hour long walk around the southern tip of the Upper Rock, with fantastic views, and quite a few steps! There are also various walks around the upper rock nature reserve, for example the Royal Anglian way.

At the Southern tip of Gibraltar, the Southernmost point of the European continent, you will find Europa Point, with it's historical displays, lighthouse and great views of Africa, 7.7 nautical miles across the Straits of Gibraltar.

Shops will tempt you in Main street, where the currency is the British Pound.

On Saturday mornings there is a re-enactment of some of the history, with excitement of muskets and Cannons at Casemates, the Plaza at the lower end of Main Street. Don't forget to stop for churros on a Saturday morning in one of the cafes.

There are many excellent places to eat in town, Catalan bay or Ocean Village, with its luxury yacht hotel, Sunborn, and Casino.

Dolphin watching cruises are also available from Ocean village.

Alternatively head to Queensway Quay for a glass or two, or a meal in the evening sun.

On a Wednesday, there is a 'mad market' in Spain, just across the border in La Linea, which is fun and great for bargains.

Kings Bastion Leisure Centre, a short bus ride away from the apartment has a cinema showing the latest films, bowling and even an ice rink!

You can easily enjoy some time in Spain nearby, don't forget to bring some Euros! There is a great 'mad' market on a Wednesday in La Linea (Mierca do Loco).

A day trip to Tangier is a must, if you have time, although you will need at least a week just to experience Gibraltar!

You can even get married in Gibraltar with one day's notice.

I found this as well, which looks fun -
To book a horseback trip please call or send a message to Alberto Collado (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)or Natalie Scott (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) in (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)
'Book your trip on horseback for only 20 euros for 2 to 2.5 hours. Now we can also organize tours around the countryside or on the beach. Our pilots are trained for the first time so that no experience is required, and provide helmets. We have years of experience and our horses are very well behaved. '

There is so much to see and do, as well as sunning and swimming on the beach just outside the apartment. You will have trouble choosing your itinerary as there is so much choice!

You will find a welcome folder with lots of information on what to see and do as well as this.

The website (URL HIDDEN) will also add information for your visit.

I am easy going, but also a bit of a perfectionist, and really want people to love my apartment and love Gibraltar. I have lots of family in Gib, and love the sun and the beach, and the feel of the place. It is home to me. Our apartment allows us to stay there when guests aren't there! One life, live it - Carpe diem, seize the day!
