Years ago in the early 19th Century some people's homes had a room, typically with it's own separate entrance in which folks passing through had a comfortable place to rest for an evening or short stay. This room was known as the "traveler's room" or "traveler's quarters". Come and stay in the "travelers quarters" at Midlane Farm. Adjoined but separate from the main house your quarters is quiet and cozy, appointed with antiques including a 200 year old cannonball bed (don't worry it's sturdy), a small but efficient bathroom and a television. Relax on the back porch with an iced tea or julep and dream of days gone by, stroll the garden (organic) and grounds, cook from the garden if you wish in the modern main kitchen, sit and watch your favorite TV program or read a book in the "lower kitchen" (which some have deemed the best single room in the city of Louisville), enjoy complementary Bourbon or cocktails. The bar at Midlane Farm is always open and always well stocked! Hospitality would not be complete without towels, linens, and breakfast. If you need room for more than two no problem. You can stay in the main house and we'll move to the traveler's quarters! Please contact us first though to ensure that we don't have any conflicts. The main house can host six easy. Let us share our passion for the preservation of this "grand ol dame" with you. Sleep tight at your old Kentucky home. Good night.........
I had a wonderful time at this historic hide-away in Louisville. Chas and Kim go above and beyond when it comes to hospitality. I enjoyed some lovely meals with them, a great tour of the city and chats by the fireplace. They are very warm, friendly people and have a beautiful home.
Chas and Kim were AMAZING hosts, and I can't recommend their airbnb enough! The travelers quarters are beautiful and the bed very comfortable. Kim went above and beyond with breakfast to accommodate my dietary restrictions, and Chas was kind enough to take me on a driving tour of Louisville. My weekend in Louisville was definitely a great experience, much because of their hospitality.
We had an awesome time at Midlane Farm! I wish we could have stayed longer!! Kim and Chas were incredibly friendly and hospitable. They welcomed us and our small dog, gave us suggestions on places to see around town, gave us a (taste) lesson in all that is bourbon and provided us with a nice southern breakfast the next morning. We truly could have stayed a week and will be back again if we are ever in the area!
We loved our stay at Midlane Farm! Chas and Kim are wonderful hosts and great people to meet. They are very warm and attentive. We felt very welcomed in their home. The traveler's quarters were cozy, with a private entrance so that we could come and go as we pleased. The lower kitchen was fantastic to sit by the fire and read, hang out with Rufus or talk with Kim and Chas. The house is beautiful and conveniently located so that nothing is more than 20 minutes away. We had a great experience and are excited to go back in the spring to see the garden. I'd highly recommend staying at Midlane Farm and trying out Chas' homemade hot sauce!
It was a relaxing place to stay & as described. Gracious host & hostess have a huge yard & a very unique historic home in a neighborhood that is convenient & made me feel very safe.
Kim and Chas were both very hospitable, offering a cozy fire and spirits at the end of our evening out on the Urban Bourbon Trail in downtown Louisville. The room was pleasant and clean, had internet, a tv, information about the Bourbon Trail which we had asked about, toiletries, drinking water, clean linens. It was a perfect little spot for us to stay and they were kind enough to let our dog stay with us. The only issue was proximity to the downtown area, which cost about $60 in cab fare round trip. Depending on what your purpose is (for us it was experiencing downtown Louisville and sampling KY whisky!), consider the amount of cab fare. Other than that, it was wonderful to stay in a historic home in Kentucky and there's nothing quite like sipping bourbon by the fire on a cold November night!
Chas and Kim were a delight to stay with! The travellers quarters was spotless, comfortable and with very charming decor that gave the private bungalow a lovely rustic charm. We were on a music holiday and they even sent us off to our show with CDs to listen too to inspire and some bourbon to end the night with. A lovely breakfast was served and this was really a lovely experience and we will happily be visiting again.
Awesome room and hosts.
If you are a business traveler and wont to break away from the hotel life this is the place. You can not ask for a more pleasant setting. The hospitality is the best you will ever receive.
It is truly like "home away from home"
Thanks Chas and Kim
Chas and Kim were really great! This was the first day of our trip that we had any spare time and Chas took us all over Louisville. We felt that we had made real friends. We hope we get to return the favor someday if they ever get out here.
