Years ago in the early 19th Century some people's homes had a room, typically with it's own separate entrance in which folks passing through had a comfortable place to rest for an evening or short stay. This room was known as the "traveler's room" or "traveler's quarters". Come and stay in the "travelers quarters" at Midlane Farm. Adjoined but separate from the main house your quarters is quiet and cozy, appointed with antiques including a 200 year old cannonball bed (don't worry it's sturdy), a small but efficient bathroom and a television. Relax on the back porch with an iced tea or julep and dream of days gone by, stroll the garden (organic) and grounds, cook from the garden if you wish in the modern main kitchen, sit and watch your favorite TV program or read a book in the "lower kitchen" (which some have deemed the best single room in the city of Louisville), enjoy complementary Bourbon or cocktails. The bar at Midlane Farm is always open and always well stocked! Hospitality would not be complete without towels, linens, and breakfast. If you need room for more than two no problem. You can stay in the main house and we'll move to the traveler's quarters! Please contact us first though to ensure that we don't have any conflicts. The main house (Midlane Farm 1820 Federal Home) can easily host six, but also rents individual rooms. Let us share our passion for the preservation of this "grand ole dame" with you. Sleep tight at your old Kentucky home. Good night.........
The Traveler's Quarters is your space. Common areas are the outside 2 acres, back porch, lower kitchen and main kitchen. Smoking is permitted outside only.
Kim and Chas have clearly raised the bar for the Airbnb experience. Although I stayed in the winter, and the photos are all from lovely summer weather, I had the great enjoyment, comfort and aroma of a real fireplace, which was perfect during the extremely cold weather we had. Being made to feel welcome is one thing, but feeling as if you're part of the family is another, and I applaud them on achieving this experience for their visitors.
Because of the extreme cold, I actually stayed in the main house, not the Travelers' Quarters, but I would have been happy in either one. If you're in the Louisville area, you won't go wrong to stay with Kim and Chas, and their lovely dogs Rosie, Rufus and cat Beauregard.
My boyfriend and I have stayed at Midlane Farm twice now and absolutely love it. The home has amazing character and history, which is well preserved by Chas and Kim. Chas and Kim are very welcoming hosts and make you feel very much at home. This is a great place to stay when visiting Louisville. You are in the city, with easy access to local attractions, but the home still offers a peaceful place to retreat to at the end of the day.
What a delightful experience! Midlane is conveniently located just minutes from the airport and downtown, with the charm and quiet of a rural country manor. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The Travelers Room offered privacy and comfort, but the proprietors, Kim & Chas made us feel like we were visiting old friends.
Every detail was taken care of. From special dietary requirements to fully appointed accommodations to a roaring fire in the lower kitchen/ shared space. Cant wait to go back in the Spring and see how beautiful the property is in full bloom!
Kim and Chas are A+ hosts! Wonderful people. They're place is so cozy and beautiful and they have super friendly dogs. If you get a chance, stay here. Also, Kim makes a killer breakfast.
Highly recommend! Kim and Chas are the most wonderful hosts, and the house and travelers quarters are beautiful. Hi Rufus and Rosie!
Midlane farm was a step back in history and a cozy little place to stay for the night. Kim and Chaz were fantastic and very accommodating hosts! We loved the dogs and talking with them. They gave us great suggestions of where to eat and my husband had a great conversation about bourbon. Chaz even gave him a few samples :) Kim also made us a delicious breakfast in the morning. They are a lovely couple, with a great little place to stay. I would definitely recommend them.
We had a wonderful time -- the room was cozy, the hosts were incredibly hospitable (we sat with them to eat a tasty breakfast and got lots of great local recommendations), their dogs are super sweet, and we had a fun time in louisville generally -- urban bourbon trail, etc etc :) I would highly recommend this place -- my husband and I really enjoyed staying --

Chas and Kim Laramore-Stephens are owners/caretakers of Chas' family home "Midlane Farm" built in 1820 and never out of the immediate family. Working on the home be it inside or out are the passions of Chas and Kim. Tending the vegetable and flower gardens and consuming and sharing the fruits of their labor gives the couple much pride and happiness. Both professionals Chas and Kim have other jobs as well. Kim's hobbies are all that is southern, hailing from Mississippi and Georgia she cherishes the southern lifestyle of hospitality and graciousness.
