Our place is completely and totally isolated. The cabins are perfect for hunting, fishing, beachcombing, and kayaking. We recommend our place for couples, solo adventurers, or small group retreats. Eventually, it would make an amazing wedding venue. The cabins are not on the Kodiak mainland, but rather on a nearby island. You will have to contact me to find out information about getting from Kodiak to Whale Island.

The space
The Whale Cabin is very rustic, but cozy. It has been used as a hunting cabin for years. It has a queen-sized Tempurpedic bed and bunk beds. It is a dry cabin, but has a fully equipped kitchen. The wood burning stove offers plenty of warmth in for the winter season. It has a dining room table, a lazy boy chair, and a TV/VCR. I have provided plenty of videos to watch. Also, the cabin is right on the cove with a view of the water.

Guest access
You can access all 4 acres of the property, the lakeside at the rear of the property, and the beaches below the high tide mark. You will not need a Daily Use Permit from the Afognak Native Corporation to walk elsewhere on the island unless you plan to hunt or fish.

Other things to note
The cabin is dry. There is an outhouse and clean rainwater. This is an amazingly remote vacation. It is unlike anything else you have experienced. If you book with me, I will make sure you have all the information you need to get yourself settled in.

I am a high school History teacher who is preparing her retirement. This property is designed to operate remotely, but I look forward to one month of hosting each summer. My favorite place to be when I am not working is Whale Island. I am an unobtrusive host, but will be available when needed. I will accommodate in any way I can.
