Two well-lit, furnished porches and a fire pit make it easy to feel far away from the noise of ordinary life. Come for a deep retreat in our one-of-a-kind temporary autonomous zone. Your host wrote the award-winning book The Good Life Lab about this very property.

ABOUT THE DOME
A private guest house tucked into a corner nook of a private, acre-sized, earthen-walled property. Beautifully high ceilings and supremely quiet.

HOT SPRING
Our naturally 108-degree hot spring is situated in a large, enclosed, open-air area surrounded by trees, where you can view the night sky and the sunrise. It is available to two sets of guests, but never at the same time — assuring each guest plenty of privacy and tub time.

Dome guests have the hot spring to themselves on all even hours (8am, 10am, etc.) day and night. Our other guests have the hot spring to themselves on odd hours.
One-foot-thick walls assure supreme quiet inside the dome. The dome is stocked with everything needed for heating up leftovers and making coffee or tea — mini fridge, microwave, electric kettle, and French press.

Pet-allergen and chemical-free. Cleaned with natural products and scent-free detergent. High-speed WiFi accessible in the dome and on both shady porches — rock solid and reliable. Ductless heating and AC that you control. Off-grid on PV solar. Fruit trees and multiple furnished shady porches make for a casual, laid-back natural environment perfect for forgetting about the big stuff.

NATURAL 108-DEGREE HOT SPRING — OUTDOOR

Soak in our 8-foot diameter, 4-foot deep, naturally 108/109-degree outdoor hot spring in a spacious, private fenced area with views of Turtleback Mountain, star-studded night skies, and glorious sunrises. Dome guests have the hot spring all to themselves on every even hour, day and night (6am, 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, etc.). Our other guests have the hot spring to themselves on odd hours.

Please soak at your own risk — we assume no liability for accidents. No radios. You’re welcome to soak through the night; quiet hours are 10pm to 9am, which means whispers when in the tub.

OUTDOOR SPACE: Two covered porches, lit in the evenings with WiFi.

FIRE PIT: A tree-encircled fire pit with flagstone patio, available to guests. Wood: $25 per bundle (approx. 15 pre-cut pieces). Fires must be kept small.

PARKING: Every guest has their own dedicated off-street parking space.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Before you book, please know this is an adult-only, quiet, retreat-like environment — not suitable for children or pets.

All guests must be listed in the booking and registered in the Airbnb app. There is a $150 fee per unregistered guest.

By booking you agree to the House Rules, which include: a maximum of 2 registered adult guests, no additional visitors on the property, and adherence to the hot spring schedule and instructions.

Because we respect our next arriving guests, we ask that any request for early check-in or late check-out be made at least 48 hours in advance — this gives our cleaning service the best chance to accommodate you. Guests who have not checked out by 11am are charged $50, plus $100 per hour starting at noon until checkout is complete.

There is a $300 fee for bringing a pet or child onto the property.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Neighborhood highlights

Located in the historic bathhouse district in downtown TorC. Walk to cafes, restaurants, yoga, a movie theater, bookstores, a nearly year-round swimming pool, the Rio Grande, and eclectic thrift shops. In less than an hour you can be hiking the Apache Kid Wilderness, at the Spaceport, or in Hatch where you can get famous green chili.

Truth or Consequences is a very casual place whose keynote is relaxation. Most locals rise and set with the sun. The town can feel as though it’s in a time warp — some say we’re stuck somewhere between the 50s and 70s. If you love nature, walking and hiking, meandering by rivers and lakes, gazing at the night sky, taking in sunsets, and soaking in hot springs, you’ll be delighted. We have many talented bodyworkers too!

Check the website Go Sierra County for area event listings. Always call ahead before going to an activity or restaurant — TorC businesses keep odd hours!

Suggestions: Arrive mid to late afternoon and hit Bullock’s grocery store for snacks. Scoot to dinner early — restaurants don’t stay open late here. Walk off dinner with a stroll along the Rio Grande and up the mesa on the Healing Waters Trail. Pop into the brewery for entertainment and to meet friendly locals.

We have a historic movie theater and many great shops best discovered on foot.
