A magical Redwood Treehouse located it the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. There is a live tree growing right through the main living area and another in the bathroom! It is simply incredible. It was built by my friend, Randy, a stained glass artist. Everyone who sees it are delighted by it.
Please read entire description before making a reservation request.
It has a delicious high-bed, a kitchen with a small stove and refrigerator, and typical cooking tools. There is a full bathroom with shower and toilet of course.
There is now a hot-tub at about 103 degrees ready for your soak before bed or a morning treat.
The Treehouse is a short walk of a few hundred yards (about four minutes) through the beautiful woods from the parking area.
There is a gas stove for heating. There is a TV and DVD player with many movies to choose from.
Redwood Treehouse comes with its own cat, Grey, who lives outside. She is employed as a mouser and does a fine job. She is friendly and loves attention.
For travelers this is the best of both worlds. A wonderful treehouse nestled in the redwood forest, a short distance to HWY 1(Pacific Coast HWY) the main vein to Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, Capitola and Santa Cruz and the HWY 101 Corridor.
People come from all over the world to experience the Pacific Coast specifically the Monterey Bay area. It is an area rich in history. Here you will find world class art, music, cuisine, golf, surfing, sightseeing, hiking, biking, sunbathing, whale watching, birding, fishing, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and so much more. You can spend the day engaged in a variety of activities, physical and/or cultural. However you spend your day you can return home to a mountain treehouse and quiet.
The weather here is excellent. It is located in a micro climate called a ‘banana belt’. Though the beach is only 25 minutes away we are often in the sun when our neighbors in the valley and on the coast are in the fog. Winters are mild we average 25” of rainfall a year. Summers can be warm but delightful. The fog rolling in at night is nature’s air conditioner and everything cools down. The weather is nearly perfect. Fog burns off early enough to make the beaches comfortable all day.
The Santa Cruz Mountains are home to Sequoia Sempervirens commonly known as a Redwood Tree. They are native only to a specific part of Pacific Coast region.

Wow! Everything about this place exceeded our expectations. We were warmly welcomed upon our arrival and given helpful info about our stay. The treehouse was so peaceful and provided much needed relaxation. We spent our time cooking meals, reading on the deck, playing with Grey (seriously the nicest cat either of us have met), resting in the hot tub, and playing games. We hope to return again!
Our stay at the treehouse was unique and memorable! We bought groceries at Nob Hill before heading to the treehouse for a nice dinner & breakfast the next morning. It's quite a drive if you have to leave the house to get some groceries after you've arrived. The narrow trail is buried in the redwood forest which just added to the great experience we had. (Note: Try not to bring rolling luggage because it is a dirt trail) Once the treehouse was in view, Grey the cat greeted us and followed us down the trail. The house is quaint and cozy. Everything was clean and most amenities were available (linens, cookware, etc) The best part is waking up in the morning and seeing the lush redwoods outside through the window. We spent the day in Monterey, and were excited to come back to the treehouse for a quiet retreat and sleep. I recommend this to any couple who wants a little getaway into the woods!
This was an amazing experience! We loved it! Mary Jane and her family were wonderfully friendly. You are greeted and provided with a map when you arrive and then you are on your own to experience the magic of the "fogship beaver". Starting w a fun jaunt through the woods until you come upon the treehouse lit in twinkle lights. That's about when you meet Gray. Best treehouse kitty ever. The tree has everything you need to be perfectly content. Bring groceries and your good to go. There is even shower hygiene products provided. The photo album with the construction and back story on the treehouse and it's originator is a real treat. I think it can safely be said that when Randy Beaver built this wonderful place it has maintained all the magic it was Intended to have and carries on it's original purpose to serve. I hope to return again someday, though I know if I do, pleasant as it will be it will never be as awesome as our first trip. The only thing I would change is the bed. It is comfortable, but has a pronounced dip in the middle. But hey, that's where you meet your lover anyway, right? So maybe the beds just helping out ;) this will hands down be one of my favorite memories for all time. It was that much fun! The hot tub was a great bonus as well. And who doesn't like scrabble by candle light with your favorite person. Can't say it enough, GREAT WEEKEND!!!!! Thank you again, Mary Jane and family!!!
What a wonderful and beautiful treehouse! We had a great time staying there in the middle of winter. After we arrived and took our little walk to the treehouse, we were greeted by the friendly cat, Grey, who has a bed on the side of the house. The treehouse is quiet and surrounded by redwoods and especially gorgeous in the morning when the light comes through between the trees. We brought our groceries and had a really nice feast of steaks, sauteed abalone, and mushrooms. Heating worked great in there - it was very warm and cozy. We went hiking the next day at Wilder Ranch which has a trail along the coast. The whole experience was wonderful! I will definitely come back to this treehouse!
A cozy and unique spot in the redwood trees--we loved the hot tub under the stars and our weekend cat, Grey. Beautiful!
Absolutely loved it! Such a cozy little place and perfect for a relaxing getaway. Gray's company made it extra special. Only wish we could have stayed longer.
Treehouse was fantastic and Mary Jane was super sweet, met us right when we got there, explained where everything was and gave us a number to call if we had any issues, extremely helpful!
We had an adventure staying in the Treehouse. It was very quaint. Unfortunately we picked the first heavy rain of the season and being in the forest it was a little noisy. The bed was very cozy and in spite of the rain we did manage to tune things out and sleep. The gray kitty cat was very friendly and greeted us in the morning. We brought our dinner, wine and breakfast with us which made it very convenient. Mary Jane was a good host.
The treehouse was absolutley amazing! The scenery was breathtaking and we loved the trail to reach the treehouse. It was so comfy and cozy and Grey the cat was the cutest little addition to our experience. She was so friendly and affectionate, we miss her already. The treehouse had everything we needed to make our stay completley comfortable. The kitchen had all the appliances we needed to cook our dinner. There were even fun board games to play and a good selection of movies to watch. My boyfriend and I can't wait to stay there again.
