The space
Built in 1872 Sanger House is an impressive Victorian home; it's magnificent gardens feature hundreds of different plant varieties including, trees, shrubs, conifers, perennials, annuals, tropical & grasses. The urban gardens are visited by hundreds of visitors and horticultural enthusiasts each year.

Events
The gardens are capable of hosting business events, weddings, and private dinners. We have caterers who have worked at our venue over the years but we also allow our visitors to use a caterer of their choice. We can recommend florists, photographers, musicians, bartenders and rental companies for tables, chairs and staging.

During the restoration of The Carriage House we wanted to reuse and recycle as many materials as we could to keep the space as authentic and natural as its chocolate box surrounding. We recycled 100 year old yellow pine flooring combined with added custom finishes such as wainscoting & wooden ceilings and beams to create a very unique space. The Carriage House offers forced air heat and air conditioning.

Kitchen
The kitchen is well equipped with all modern amenities: stainless steel appliances, including a 15 cubic foot refrigerator, gas cook top, microwave oven, toaster and Keurig coffee maker. We supply a variety of K-cup coffee types along with bottled water and a changing selection of wines. If there is special request we will do our best to accommodate you. The kitchen is supplied with glasses, dishes, silverware, napkins, paper towels and cleaning supplies.

Lounge
The lounge has two comfortable armchairs, a coffee table and a 50 inch smart TV. The TV service is free; we use Roku internet network which is equipped with simple to use apps which bring you everything from local TV to 40 different providers including Spotify , HULU, ACORN, and Spectrum channels. In addition the entire space is equipped with free WIFI service along with ample charging and internet connections.

Bedroom
The large bedroom is a second floor loft style with skylights. It has been furnished with a queen-size sleigh bed dressed with a cozy quilt and Egyptian cotton sheets. There are also a full length mirror, a chest of drawers, a vanity table and rocking chair. Ample closet storage is available in the bedroom for your stay. There is a charging station and internet connection adjacent to the table.

A south facing openable window allows a view of the gardens and (depending on the time of year) the city skyline. We provide our guests with plenty of pillows and extra blankets. Let us know if you have a special request or need something for your stay, we will try to have ready for you when you arrive.

Shower room / Bathroom
The bathroom is located on the first floor. The floor is ceramic tile, as is the spacious shower. There is a ceiling light in the shower and a large sliding glass door. We provide you with bath towels, facecloths and hand towels. The vanity is large so you have plenty of counter space and room for all of your toiletries. There is a large lighted mirror over the vanity, and a south-facing window with custom artglass for privacy. The bathroom is vented, heated and air-conditioned. Neighborhood highlights

Brewers' Hill
Brewers' Hill is a small, diverse neighborhood north of downtown on the Milwaukee River. The neighborhood is bordered by North Avenue to the north, Holton Avenue to the east, the Milwaukee River and Pleasant Street to the south, and Martin Luther King Drive to the west.
The name Brewers' Hill is derived from the large number of brewery workers and owners that once inhabited the area.

Brewers' Hill contains an architectural mix of Greek Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne and Colonial Revival buildings dating from the 1850s to the 1920s. Part of the neighborhood, the Brewers' Hill Historic District, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Having lived in Brewers Hill for over 30 years we are very familiar with the area. The neighborhood is located just a few short blocks from our downtown business and entertainment districts. Our local eatery is "View MKE" it offers a "farm to fork" cuisine. It has a great open air patio area with a fantastic view of the skyline of Milwaukee, It is one block from The Carriage House. Across from View MKE will be Uncle Wolfies, a new breakfast & bar opening in 2019. If you are looking for a true Milwaukee experience visit The Lakefront Brewery, it is a few blocks from the carriage house. They have great home brewed beers and offers daily tours.

Other attractions nearby reached by foot or a short Uber drive is the Water Street entertainment district here you will find numerous taverns & restaurants along with the Performing Arts Center, where you can enjoy the Symphony Orchestra, Opera and other venues. Also close by is the Brady Street district offering numerous taverns, restaurants and retail shops.

If sports is something you would like to do the new Milwaukee Bucks Fiserv Center is a newly completed, spectacular sports venue. You will find professional basketball, hockey and college sports all within a block of each other. We are 5 minutes way from all of these venues and much more.

Visitors to Milwaukee not only come for great food, breweries and festivals during our summer months but a special attraction is the Milwaukee Arts Museum located on the Lakefront. the Museum features the: Burke Brise Soleil. Unprecedented in American architecture, the Burke Brise Soleil is a moveable, wing-like sunscreen that rests on top of the Museum’s vaulted, glass-enclosed Windhover Hall. It's wingspan is comparable to that of a Boeing 747.400. jet. Unlike the airplane, the Museum prefers to remain on the ground. It was designed by world renowned architect Santiago Calatrava.

We are a 10 minute cab or Uber drive from the museum.

My work: Self -employed
Lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
We, Angela & myself are avid gardeners. Visitors to Sanger House have told us what a serene and beautiful place we have created. A few years ago we decided to open our private garden up for use for events, anything from weddings to private dinners to business meetings. The response had been wonderful, thousands have visited and dozens of events have been held here. Many of our visitors asked if we would ever be on Airbnb, since they wanted to stay here, so we renovated our carriage house put in a nice kitchen, new bathroom and a lovely bedroom upstairs. We have been told its a cross between a cabin and resort everybody loves it. We play a lot of jazz here thru Spotify and folks love to sit in the garden after along day of sightseeing or business and just relax and unwind from their day. When I travelled for work I looked for this kind of place to stay, away from the hotels, different from what most folks do. I guess a sense of adventure along with finding something out about the City I was in, so I stayed at places that could tell me about the city I was in what it really is like. They gave me hints and ideas where to go , I liked that they were ambassadors for their City. We know Milwaukee quite well, we are 5 to 10 minutes from the convention center and some of the best restaurants in town. Just ask Peace in the Garden.....
