Gorgeous, 1910 Architect designed, 3 Bedroom, 2 1/2 Bath, house
Wrap around deck with Redwood trees in the large landscaped yard.

Adams Point, is one of Oakland's coolest neighborhoods. One block from Lake Merritt, there are many good restaurants and bars within easy walking distance and Oakland's vibrant Uptown is just a 20 minute walk away.

We now only rent by the week. Shorter stays may be made by special arrangement. Our rates have been adjusted to reflect this change.

The space
This is a home in the grand old style, but because of how we like to live, it is a casual and comfortable place.

It's a house perfect for a quiet dinner for two on the deck. Large gatherings or parties are strictly limited, but we commonly host family reunions, graduation or wedding gatherings by special arrangement. Please describe your event.

The detail of this 1910 architect designed home is stunning, from the deep overhanging eaves richly ornamented with California rafters and brackets, outside, to the huge gorgeous oak front door, the wide entry hall, vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors and eclectic artwork from out travels inside. We love our home - - we are always grateful that we live there, and we think that you will be grateful that you chose it for your stay.

It is always amazing, while sitting on the deck or in the yard, watching squirrels scurry in the giant redwoods while listening to bird song, that we are living on the edge of downtown Oakland.

Adams Point is a gorgeous urban neighborhood in which many of the grand old homes remain. However, those homes are neighbor to many apartments and condominiums, giving the neighborhood a natural economic and cultural diversity. This spirit enlivens the Grand/Lakeshore shopping and dining area just blocks from the house. New restaurants seem to be opining every day.

And on Saturday, Farmers' Market Day, you can walk along the shore of Lake Merritt to the market, and see and feel what draws so many to that event. It's almost like a festival surrounding the lake. A mile in the other direction is the vibrant restaurant and bar filled Uptown Neighborhood. At the end of your day, return to the quiet elegance of your home.

Steve and I are your hosts - Steve comes from a long line of Californians. He is an alumnus of UCLA and holds a Master's in Architecture from UC Berkeley. After living in the Haight in San Francisco and Mill Valley and Sausalito, in Marin County, he is delighted by the vivacity and excitement of Adam's Point in Oakland. He writes a travel blog - ontheroad.guide. I am a Chicago native, and graduate of the University of Wisconsin ( BA, MA) (Master's in Public Health from UC-Berkeley), and I have never stopped being grateful for the perfect match I found when I moved to Oakland thirty-six years ago, where I raised my two sons and where my grandchildren live. My neighborhood, in the vast Bay Area, forms my small community. I know the other people who run the lake every day and the merchants, and I have watched with amusement and pride as our neighborhood has become the 'hip' place to be. After a thirty-year career as a community college English teacher, I have recently retired to enjoy my grandchildren, my partner, entertaining friends and family, indulging my reading addiction, and traveling. We both love our home, as do the many friends and family we have entertained over the years. It is a place of warmth and welcome, which we extend to you.
